V Hanumanth Rao hits back at Kishan Reddy for

India Gazette20-05-2025

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], May 20 (ANI): Congress leader V Hanumanth Rao on Tuesday hit out at Union Minister and Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy over the latter's social media remarks accusing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of working against national interest.
Responding to Reddy's post on X, Rao said it was 'really unfortunate' that such a statement was made about the Gandhi family, which has 'sacrificed for the nation.'
'Kishan Reddy, being both the Telangana BJP President and a Union Minister, has posted on social media that Rahul Gandhi is working against national interest. This is truly unfortunate. He seems to have forgotten the sacrifices made by the Gandhi family for the nation. Rajiv Gandhi, Indira Gandhi -- they always prioritised the country, even at the cost of their lives,' Rao said.
He further said Reddy was playing 'cheap politics' in the name of Operation Sindoor and questioned the BJP's motives.
'Kishan Reddy, you are well aware of the all-party meeting held after the Pahalgam incident, where innocent people were killed. Despite political differences and opposition to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, every party -- including Mamata Banerjee's -- came together and wholeheartedly supported the government once Operation Sindoor was launched,' he said.
Defending Rahul Gandhi's statements, Rao added, 'Now Rahul Gandhi is simply asking how many aircraft were damaged. Is that wrong? Instead, you're playing cheap politics. Militant activities are increasing day by day, and instead of focusing on that, you are trying to politicise the issue.'
He also accused the BJP of manipulating the delegation process. 'A delegation is being sent, and the names were not even suggested by the Congress party. Yet, you are handpicking members and politicising the process in the name of Operation Sindoor. This is nothing but cheap politics,' Rao said.
Earlier, in a strongly worded post, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy had accused Rahul Gandhi of spreading 'Pakistan's falsehoods' and demoralising the armed forces.
'While the entire nation is united in saluting our soldiers for the success of Operation Sindoor, Rahul Gandhi seems to be working against our national interest. Instead of acknowledging PM Modi's strong response that has forced Pakistan on its knees, Rahul Gandhi is busy spreading Pakistan's falsehoods to create doubts amongst the people and demoralise our armed forces,' Reddy said in a post on X.
'It is truly unfortunate that Rahul Gandhi and the Congress continue to echo Pakistan's propaganda -- especially when the entire world has acknowledged India's precision strikes. Can we ever expect Rahul Gandhi and the Congress to rise above petty politics and stand with India? Will he ever change? Or is loyalty to the nation too much to ask from Rahul Gandhi and the Congress Party?' he added.
On Monday, Rahul Gandhi again questioned External Affairs Minister Jaishankar, accusing him of being silent about how many aircraft the Indian Air Force lost during the operation. He said that the nation 'deserves the truth.'
'EAM Jaishankar's silence isn't just telling -- it's damning. So I'll ask again: How many Indian aircraft did we lose because Pakistan knew? This wasn't a lapse. It was a crime. And the nation deserves the truth,' Rahul Gandhi posted on X.
India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that left 26 civilians dead. As part of the operation, Indian Armed Forces targeted terror infrastructure deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, eliminating over 100 terrorists linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen. A case has also been filed against the complainant, Wajahat Khan Qadri. Kolkata: Sharmishta Panoli, the 22-year-old social media influencer from Kolkata arrested over a communally charged video linked to Operation Sindoor, has been granted interim bail by the Calcutta High Court. Ms Panoli was arrested on May 31, over two weeks after she made the controversial remarks in response to a post questioning India's military action after the Pahalgam attack. The interim bail comes a day after the Kolkata Police filed a first information report (FIR) against Wajahat Khan Qadri, the man whose complaint led to the arrest of Ms Panoli. Mr Qadri faces allegations of hurting religious sentiments. He is on the run, the police said. An Assam Police team has also reached Kolkata with an arrest warrant for Mr Qadri. The Assam Police filed a case against him earlier this week for posting content on social media that contained hate speech and derogatory remarks, which hurt religious sentiments. He was not found at his Kolkata house when the police team went there on Wednesday. Mr Khan also faces many cases in other states. Ms Panoli was arrested from Gurugram last week after her Instagram post drew protests. Her arrest sparked a political row, with the BJP and its allies targeting the Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal. She was produced in court and sent to judicial custody for 14 days. Ms Panoli even received support from nearly 7,000 km away. Geert Wilders, a member of the Dutch Parliament and the leader of the right-wing Party for Freedom, has said the influencer's arrest is a "disgrace for freedom of speech" and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure she is freed.

Rahul Gandhi cites fall in vehicle, mobile sales to criticise govt's ‘event-driven' politics

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday cited the drop in the sales of two-wheelers and cars as well as the fall in the mobile market to attack the government and said the country needs politics that is not about the glitz of events but connected with the reality of everyday life. The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha asserted that the country needs an economy that works for every Indian, not just for a select few capitalists. "The statistics tell the truth. In the last year, two-wheeler sales have fallen by 17 per cent and car sales by 8.6 per cent. The mobile market has fallen by 7 per cent. On the other hand, both expenses and debt are constantly increasing: house rent, domestic inflation, education expenses, almost everything is becoming expensive," Gandhi said in his post in Hindi on X. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo — RahulGandhi (@RahulGandhi) These are not just figures, but the reality of the economic pressure under which every common Indian is suffering, he said. BJP leader calls Congress govt ‘heartless' after Bengaluru stampede: ‘Those who took selfies…'

BJP leader R Ashoka on Thursday took a dig at the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government in the state alleging that those who celebrated by raising the IPL trophy, went to airport and took selfies with the RCB team will not go to homes of those who lost their lives in the stampede. In a post on 'X' the leader of opposition termed the Congress government "heartless" and shared pictures from a felicitation ceremony held by state government in Vidhana Soudha for the RCB team. In one of the pictures, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was seen donning turban on Virat Kohli while in another picture, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar was seen lifting the IPL trophy won by RCB team after a wait of 18 years. "Those who celebrated yesterday by raising the trophy and taking photos will not come to support the families of the innocent people who died. Those who were happy yesterday when they went to the airport and took selfies will not go to the homes of the deceased today and shed tears," he alleged. Ashoka further alleged that those who honoured cricket players yesterday by donning turbans and garlanding them cannot even come to lay soil on the graves of the dead today. "The lives of ordinary people have no value for this heartless @INCKarnataka government," he added. He continued to reiterate his demand seeking resignation of Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar. According to Home Minister, G Parameshwara, 11 people have died and 56 have been injured in the stampede. Among the injured, 46 have gone back home after the treatment, while 10 are at hospital and their condition is not serious according to doctors, he added.
