Real Madrid forward Endrick suffers setback in recovery from hamstring injury

New York Times10-07-2025
Real Madrid forward Endrick has suffered a relapse of the muscle injury he sustained at the end of May and is expected to remain sidelined for a number of weeks.
The Brazilian, 18, initially suffered an injury to his right hamstring injury in the final league game of last season – a 2-0 win over Sevilla – which ruled him out of this summer's Club World Cup in the United States.

Endrick worked on his recovery in Spain, both at home and at Real Madrid's training complex in Valdebebas, with the help of his staff and the supervision of club specialists.
On June 28, he flew to Miami to finish his recovery closer to new Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso, the Spaniard's coaching staff and his teammates.
The plan remained, however, that he would not play in the tournament, in which Madrid were beaten by Paris Saint-Germain in this week's semi-final.
Endrick was involved in part of Monday's session with the group before the match, and appeared to be entering the final stages of his recovery.
But he has now suffered a setback.
Although there have been speculation over a possible exit for Endrick, sources close to the player, who wish to remain anonymous to protect relationships, indicate that his priority is to stay at Madrid this summer.
Meanwhile, Trent Alexander-Arnold will be checked to determine the extent of an injury picked up in training.
The England full-back felt muscular discomfort in his right leg in training prior to the PSG game, which he ruled him out of the 4-0 loss in New Jersey.

Norman Powell gives honest thoughts on getting ‘acclimated' since Heat trade

The post Norman Powell gives honest thoughts on getting 'acclimated' since Heat trade appeared first on ClutchPoints. With the Miami Heat trading for Norman Powell from the Los Angeles Clippers in the offseason, it's a move that has given the team a new level of excitement. As people around the Heat have praised the move to trade for Powell, the player himself speaks on getting used to his new surroundings. Powell has been recently practicing with the Jamaican national basketball team for the FIBA World Cup 2027 Americas pre-qualifiers, which have been taking place in Boca Raton, Florida. Specifically at Florida Atlantic University, where Miami has held training camp before, Powell would express how being in South Florida under this situation has been getting him 'acclimated,' according to The Miami Herald. 'It's getting me acclimated,' Powell said. 'It has been amazing to be welcomed here. Not only with the Jamaican national team, and that side of my culture that I'm embracing and learning about. But being here in South Florida, checking into the hotel, people already know who I am and welcome me and are excited about me being on the Heat.' 'It's been amazing,' Powell continued. 'I've always looked at my life as full-circle moments. Things that have been talked about and signs, and things that you don't really notice. But then it comes full circle. I was expecting training camp to be in Jamaica, but then I learned that it was in Boca. And then being traded to the Heat, being so close to where I'll be playing, and being able to go down there and go to the facility, look for a place to stay. … It's definitely cool.' Norman Powell on starting a new chapter with the Heat As Powell will now join the Heat's featured duo of Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro, the former Los Angeles Clipper gives the team a much-needed gutpunch on offense, as they ranked towards the bottom of the league in offensive rating. Speaking after a recent practice with the Jamaican national team, he would also express how eager he is to start a new era in his basketball career. 'Honestly, I'm super excited about it,' Powell said. 'It's always a shock when you get traded, especially coming off the year that I had, and talking to the front office, and it's all about extensions and things like that. And then you get a little rumbling that it's a possibility, but not really. And then you get traded. So the shock is always there.' 'But the Heat, they've welcomed me with open arms,' Powell continued. 'They've talked about how much they've wanted me and liked my game throughout the year, and they've tried to get me. So to come to a place that values you and wants you here and understands what you bring to the table and wants you to be you, you can't be upset or mad about that at all.' Last season, Powell averaged 21.8 points per game on shooting 48.4 percent from the field and 41.8 percent from deep. Powell is hoping to help Miami improve this upcoming season, as they were 37-45, which put them 10th in the Eastern Conference. While they would make it through the play-in tournament as the first 10th seed to do so, the Heat would get swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the NBA playoffs. Bam Adebayo's true feelings on ‘All-Star caliber' Norman Powell Heat addition

The post Bam Adebayo's true feelings on 'All-Star caliber' Norman Powell Heat addition appeared first on ClutchPoints. Ever since the Miami Heat traded for Norman Powell, it has no doubt brought a shock to the fanbase as the team found a much-needed gutpunch on offense. With the Heat amid the offseason, still looking to iron out the roster, star Bam Adebayo has broken his silence on his thoughts regarding the addition of Powell. The former Los Angeles Clippers guard had the best year in his NBA career this past season, averaging 21.8 points per game on shooting 48.4 percent from the field and 41.8 percent from deep. Adebayo said last Saturday that the move for Powell is a 'very good shake-up' for Miami, according to The Miami Herald. 'It's a very good shake-up for our team, and now there's a different dynamic to it,' Adebayo said. Adebayo was the one who put out the message after the season ended at the hands of a Cleveland Cavaliers sweep that changes were coming to the organization. The deal for Powell displayed that, with Adebayo no doubt being a fan of the move, saying that they added an 'All-Star caliber player.' 'I feel like Norman is one of those guys that floats under the radar,' Adebayo said. 'But as you saw this year, he's really shown that he can be an All-Star caliber player. You've seen what he's done, and you've seen him grow in this league. And, obviously, he wants to take the next challenge. Obviously, the next challenge is being with the Miami Heat. So I'm happy to have him.' Powell would praise Adebayo to ClutchPoints during his first press conference with the team, citing his excitement for the team-up. Heat's Bam Adebayo on the departures of Duncan Robinson, Kevin Love As the Heat will continue to be surrounded by rumors, the trade for Powell gives the team a different look and another weapon besides the featured duo of Adebayo and Tyler Herro. However, there were some decisions to be made in who gets traded from Miami's side, plus some other departures featuring a familiar place. In the Powell trade, the Heat would deal Kevin Love and Kyle Anderson (who came from the Jimmy Butler trade), and aside from that, long-time Miami sharpshooter Duncan Robinson would go to the Detroit Pistons in a sign-and-trade. Adebayo had been teammates with Robinson since the 2018-19 season and also had developed a close relationship with Love, as the star showed love to the two. 'I'm going to miss them, obviously,' Adebayo said. 'Just because Duncan has been here for eight years, and having that connection was special. And then K-Love was a leader that could speak to somebody from a championship level, could obviously encourage the younger group, be an example, but also he was the bridge between some of the coaches and the players. So like I said, I'm going to miss both of them. I'm glad we had the time that we did. It was, obviously, helpful for my growth and my development as a player and as a captain.' Miami is looking to improve after finishing last season at 37-45, which put them 10th in the Eastern Conference, though they would make it through the play-in tournament and punch their ticket to the playoffs. However, the Heat would be frustratingly swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA playoffs. NBA rumors: Former top-10 pick shunning Euro offers after Nets stint

The post NBA rumors: Former top-10 pick shunning Euro offers after Nets stint appeared first on ClutchPoints. Nearly two years after his release from the Detroit Pistons, former No. 7 pick Killian Hayes remains in search of an extended NBA opportunity. The French point guard has drawn interest from several EuroLeague clubs, but remains focused on signing with an NBA team, according to Gabriel Pantel-Jouve of BeBasket. ASVEL Basket, who play in the LNB Elite in France, reportedly made Hayes 'a good offer.' Prestigious EuroLeague clubs such as Real Madrid and Anadolu Efes have also made inquiries. 'Some clubs were keen to emulate the success of Théo Maledon, Killian Hayes' teammate from the 2001 generation, who relaunched his career by returning to ASVEL,' Pantel-Jouve wrote. 'However, the Villeurbanne offer was not enough to convince Hayes, who was determined to remain in the North American circuit.' Following his release from the Pistons midway through 2023-24, Hayes signed with the Brooklyn Nets last offseason. Killian Hayes searching for NBA opportunity following stint with Nets Killian Hayes made 18 appearances in the G League for the Long Island Nets, averaging 20.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 7.6 assists and 2.4 steals on 48/42/75 shooting splits. The Brooklyn Nets signed him to a 10-day contract midway through the season. He made six NBA appearances, averaging 9.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 5.2 assists on 42/38/83 shooting splits in 27.0 minutes per game. However, the Nets did not re-sign him following the conclusion of his 10-day. Killian Hayes entered the league with intriguing tools as a 6-foot-5 point guard with above-average passing and defensive ability. However, his offensive struggles have held him back during his five seasons. The 24-year-old has shot 38.3 percent from the field and 28.1 percent from three over 216 NBA appearances. Despite this, Hayes remains a candidate to join an NBA team on an Exhibit 10 contract during training camp. Should he be unable to land an NBA contract for the season, he should have substantial interest overseas.
