Loose Women's Penny Lancaster opened up about a moment of frustration that saw dinner plates flying across her kitchen.
On the Loose Women podcast with Coleen Nolan, Penny looked back at the trials she faced while battling health issues amid the Covid-19 lockdowns. Recalling the difficult time, she revealed how a seemingly normal evening meal preparation for her rock star husband Sir Rod Stewart and their children Alastair and Aidan, turned into "disaster".
She said: "One of my hugest disasters wasn't so much the cooking, it was where it ended up, it ended up on the walls."
When quizzed about what led to the incident, she shared that it was during the lockdown when dealing with menopause that things spiralled.

She said: "It was during lockdown when I was going through the menopause, I went through a depression and I'd made this dinner for my boys and my husband and I was calling out and calling out because it was endless breakfast, lunch and dinner forever."
Her breaking point came when, despite her repeated calls, her family seemed indifferent, leading to a dramatic reaction as they eventually entered the kitchen.
Detailing the meltdown, she said: "I was fed up that they weren't coming down when I'd asked them, and then finally when they walked into the kitchen I'd had enough, I literally picked up the plates and burst into tears and threw them across the kitchen, so the dinner's ended up on the walls and I'd ended up on the floor in a crumpled mess."

Following the incident, Penny recalled how Rod swiftly stepped in to calm things down and offer her support: "Rod just went 'boys quick, just leave mummy, leave mummy, give her a minute' and he came over to me and said 'sorry darling, are you okay?' and then the boys came in and they all helped to clear up and they were like 'I'm sorry mummy'."
Penny has been married to the legendary musician since 2007, having first crossed paths with him at the swanky Dorchester Hotel in London back in 1999.
Since their wedding 18 years ago, the couple have welcomed two sons, Alastair Wallace Stewart in 2005 followed by Aiden Patrick Stewart six years on.
Before finding love with Penny, Rod had walked down the aisle twice previously, with Alana Stewart and Rachel Hunter, and is a father to eight children from five different relationships.
The NHS outlines that menopause typically impacts women between the ages of 45 and 55, though it can sometimes start earlier.
Leading up to menopause, women undergo the perimenopause phase, which often presents many similar symptoms to those of menopause itself.
Symptoms such as "anxiety, mood swings, brain fog, hot flushes and irregular periods" are common during this transitional period.

Queen Camilla praises literary prize for championing women authors

Queen Camilla praises literary prize for championing women authors Camilla made a surprise appearance at an open-air event (Image: Anadolu, Anadolu Agency via Getty Images ) The Queen has hailed a leading fiction competition for bringing female voices from the "margins" to the "very centre" of the literary world. Camilla made a surprise appearance at an open-air event celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Women's Prize for Fiction and met the shortlisted authors for this year's award. ‌ Writer Kate Mosse, co-founder of the prize, described Camilla as a "genuine reader" who has supported the project, and said about the royal appearance: "If you're going to lay on the Queen, if it's not Beyonce, it's got to be the actual Queen." ‌ The Queen stopped broadcaster Louise Minchin, who was hosting a discussion, to address the audience in Bedford Square gardens in central London, and told guests that 1995, when the prize was launched, was a significant year for women. While women were winning a Nobel Prize and piloting a space shuttle for the first time in 1995, she said things were "bleaker" in the literary world with only 9% of female authors shortlisted for major prizes despite writing 60% of novels. Camilla said Mosse led the founding of the Women's Prize for Fiction as "they believed that women's stories should be truly heard, understood and honoured; and that it was time to disprove Virginia Woolf's famous statement that ' often a woman'". Article continues below She added: "They did this by establishing the Women's Prize for Fiction and its instantly recognisable statuette, 'The Bessie'. This simple, but radical, step brought the female voice from the margins of the literary world to its very centre." Camilla chatted to the six shortlisted authors – Aria Aber, Sanam Mahloudji, Elizabeth Strout, Nussaibah Younis, Miranda July and Yael van der Wouden. Younis joked with the Queen and made the group laugh when she said: "We're trying to take each other out, the champagne glasses are spiked, there could be one left standing." ‌ After speaking to Camilla, she said about her fellow shortlisted writers: "I have read all of the books and I'm blown away. They're funny and so sexy and very erotic." The Queen was then introduced to the six shortlisted authors for the Women's Prize for Non-Fiction, including singer-songwriter and rapper Neneh Cherry, whose debut book, A Thousand Threads tells the story of her career. "I wrote a memoir, a book about my life," she told Camilla. ‌ "It took more than four years to write it and I'm still slightly recovering. It's out there now, I have let it go, it's out in the world." The Queen told Claire Mulley, whose Agent Zo tells the story of the Polish wartime resistance fighter Elzbieta Zawacka: "I think I will put that on my holiday reading list." And she delighted author Chloe Dalton by telling her she had read her memoir Raising Hare about swapping the rat race for a rural life. Mark Feehily's years-long health woes as Westlife icon makes agonising decision

Mark Feehily sadly won't be rejoining his Westlife bandmates on stage for the band's 25th anniversary celebrations, as his temporary break from the group is extended Westlife fans are waking up gutted this morning following the sad announcement that Mark Feehily won't be joining the band's 25th anniversary celebrations. Mark announced his shock exit from the Irish group last year, amid some serious health battles, but many had been hopeful he would return to the stage soon. "It is with the utmost level of regret that I must now temporarily stand down from all Westlife touring until a time that I have had the chance to fully recover from the turbulent journey I have been through as an individual," Mark emotionally revealed in February 2024. ‌ It sadly looks like Mark's temporary break has been extended for the foreseeable."Sadly, Mark will be unable to join the celebrations. We hope he can join us back on stage when he is ready and able. He sends his love and positivity to you all as always," Westlife wrote in a statement shared with fans on Wednesday night, signed by Mark alongside his bandmates. ‌ Mark has been quiet over recent months, rarely posting to social media. His health troubles began five years ago when he underwent surgery and developed severe sepsis due to complications. August 2020 Mark shared with his fans that he was "rushed to A&E" just days after the operation, showing symptoms of the potentially deadly infection, which required immediate emergency surgery. "I had developed severe sepsis, a life threatening infection that would require immediate emergency surgery to rectify the problem and basically save my life", he told fans at the time. After the emergency procedure, Mark spent several months in hospital, including a lengthy stay in intensive care during a particularly challenging and scary time of the Covid-19 pandemic. "I spent the next few months in hospital," Mark recalled. "For months, due to the strict Covid restrictions, I was not allowed any visitors including my fiancé and my then 10-month-old daughter. ‌ "It was physically and mentally a very difficult time, not to mention traumatic having to spend so long in ICU. I was eventually discharged from hospital in December 2020 but I have had ongoing medical problems as a result of it all." November 2021 Despite recovering enough to join his Westlife bandmates on their Wild Dreams tour in 2021, Mark was forced to withdraw from the tour later that year after falling seriously ill with pneumonia before a UK concert. "I was told I had to go straight home to recover and regrettably miss the rest of the concerts that December," a dejected Mark confirmed. ‌ May 2022 In May 2022, Mark underwent further surgery and three months post-operation he attempted to "soldier on" for his fans by returning to the tour. However, he confessed that the "physical demands of the concerts and extensive travel" were too much. He developed "a very large incisional hernia" and later that year, Mark had yet another operation to "fix it". "This would be my fourth major surgery since the start of it all, but I had no option." ‌ February 2024 After enduring his fourth operation in as many years, Mark announced that he is temporarily stepping back from all Westlife touring until he can fully recuperate from the "turbulent journey" he has been on. "That surgery took place recently and thankfully it went according to plan but with that, my recovery must now become my absolute priority at this time." With a heavy heart, Mark announced that he will be taking a temporary break from Westlife's touring schedule, saying: "It is with the utmost level of regret that I must now temporarily stand down for all Westlife touring until a time that I have had the chance to fully recover from the turbulent journey I have been through as an individual." ‌ He reassured fans, "Believe me, I wish things could be different," and urged them, "please don't worry". June 2004 - Final Instagram post In June 2004, a few months on from announcing his break from Westlife duties, Mark returned to social media to launch a new line of clothes by Human Collective to celebrate Pride month. "As much as I've been on a bit of a social media detox, I have jumped on a couple of times and I just wanted to say a huge heartfelt thank you for all of the amazing messages," Mark says towards the end of his video message. "I'm proud to have you guys as fans and on that note, Happy Pride from my family to yours and we'll see you very, very soon. Lots of love." In the wake of Westlife and Mark's announcement on Wednesday night, fans have been commenting on Mark's year-old video. "We miss you, Mark. I'm hoping you're feeling OK and we can see you on stage as soon as you're feeling," one told the star today, with another adding: "Just realised it's been a year since this last post. We hope you are ok."

Simon Cowell shares rare insight into family life as he admits 'I'm very worried'

Simon Cowell shares rare insight into family life as he admits 'I'm very worried' Simon Cowell has opened up on his relationship with his son Eric and admitted he's 'very worried' about the 11-year-old as he gets older and has access to more things Simon Cowell has opened up on his relationship with his son Eric Simon Cowell has confessed his concerns as he delved into the details of his bond with his son Eric. In anticipation of Father's Day, the Britain's Got Talent judge engaged in a candid conversation with Jeff Brazier about fatherhood during Thursday's (June 12) edition of This Morning. ‌ Simon and his partner Lauren Silverman celebrated the arrival of their son Eric back in February 2014. ‌ In the pre-recorded segment, the entertainment industry titan opened up about the significance of fatherhood and how it has positively transformed his life. "Honestly, [it means] everything. Out of everything I've ever done in my life, this is the best thing to ever happen to me. The very first time I saw his scan, I was literally obsessed," Simon expressed, reports Belfast Live. The BGT judge told This Morning's Jeff Brazier he's "very worried" about Eric as he gets older and has access to more things Article continues below He continued: "It kind of gives you a purpose I think. I enjoyed my life, I enjoyed my work. I was getting to a point where I was getting bored. Once you become a parent, then it's like everything is for them. I actually really, really enjoy his company. "So like, every night we read together before he goes to bed. I can wind him up if I want to because he's so easy, like Lauren, to wind up. "I just make stupid stuff up and he's like, 'That's not real' and it's like, 'No, it really is real' and he kind of half knows but he's still wound up but he's got a good sense of humour. He's a good kid." ‌ Addressing the challenges that come with parenting, Simon remarked: "We're getting to a point where the word phone comes up, 'Oh god, here we go.'". "I'm very worried Jeff, about how much kids can see at a certain age. I grew up... which was learning things at the right time, the right age, etcetera etcetera. I just would be petrified of him having access to anything, that would really worry me." Simon and his partner Lauren Silverman celebrated the arrival of their son Eric back in February 2014 (Image: Getty Images ) ‌ He went on to say: "I think schools put too much pressure on kids, which is, you're getting up at seven in the morning, you're coming home say at five, six in the afternoon, evening and then you've got to do two hours of homework. "It's like, they're ten, eleven, twelve years old. It's too much. I would say to any teacher watching, ban homework, you'll have happier kids and they'll do better." Reminiscing about his own upbringing and having named Eric after his late father, who died in 1999, Simon said: "My mum used to say, manners maketh the man and my dad was very good about respecting other people and I'm trying to do the same thing with him. ‌ "Which is, don't make it over complicated you know, find your path, be happy, be respectful to other people." Looking towards the future, Simon expressed his hope that Eric would look back warmly on his childhood spent with his parents. The BGT judge would love for his 11 year old son to declare that his childhood was "the best thing" that made him "happier" than anything else that has ever happened in his life.
