But now 'the Sandman' is back as Happy Gilmore in an unexpected Netflix sequel to his 1996 hit. Sporting a scruffy beard and now with a family of his own, Happy is all grown up – until he isn't, as he steps out of retirement and returns to the golf turf. There are unexpected new additions to the ensemble, like Bad Bunny and Eminem, as Happy Gilmore 2 takes us on a trip across burger shops, delis, and, of course, country clubs. But don't expect any uptight gentlemanly play here as Sandler's brash man-child returns to the game in oversized jerseys, a hockey stick putter, and a vocabulary coarser than a sand trap full of sailors. Where was Happy Gilmore 2 filmed? While the first Happy Gilmore was shot entirely in British Columbia in Canada, the sequel makes its way to the United States. Most of the principal photography took place in New Jersey in September 2024. To make filming easier, Sandler and his family even moved to New Jersey last fall. The state boasts enough green pastures for the film's ragtag bunch of golfers to wreak havoc at. Pleasantdale Château, New Jersey The first-ever teaser of Happy Gilmore 2 offered us a glimpse of the palatial Pleasantdale Château in West Orange, New Jersey. It is here where Happy is honoured among other golfing legends like Tiger Woods and Arnold Palmer with a metallic bust that makes him look more like 'SpongeBob' with 'beaver teeth' than a golf pro. While the early 20th-century property was purchased by New York industrialist Charles Walter Nichols in 1912, the luxurious property has evolved into a private event estate, hosting weddings, corporate retreats, and plenty of filming projects. Before Happy Gilmore 2 pitched its tents here, the Château and its backdrop had featured in episodes of The Sopranos, along with Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, and Adrian Brody and Beyoncé musical drama Cadillac Records. A blissful dog-friendly beach on the New Jersey shore, Ideal Beach serves as an ideal training ground for whatever it is that Happy is practising. From the looks of the trailers, Happy masters the art of aiming a golf ball into a trash can at this idyllic seaside location. Verona Town Hall, New Jersey The New Jersey town of Verona welcomed Sandler and his crew with open arms as Happy Gilmore 2 features some scenes in the Verona Town Hall. The official Instagram account of the township shared some BTS stills with Sandler, sprinkled with a caption reading 'Come back anytime'. Kearny, New Jersey A suburb of Newark, this New Jersey town raised eyebrows among locals when Adam Sandler was spotted filming scenes with Ben Stiller. The Tropic Thunder star reprises his role as psychotic retirement home nurse Hal L from the first film, although this time with greying hair and yellow aviators. Kearny is one of New Jersey's more popular filming destinations, appearing in diverse productions from the original Annie to the 2022 psychological horror Smile. A RACING commentator says football legend Harry Redknapp's wife has been taken into hospital - where she is watching the racing with her hubby. Matt Chapman wished Sandra well during last night's horseracing coverage on ITV4. 5 5 5 It is not yet known why she was taken to hospital or how serious it is. The news came when Matt was speaking from Great Yarmouth Racecourse about the horse King of Bears, owned by Harry Redknapp, who is 78. He said: 'So, King of Bears, just to say Harry Redknapp will be watching this horse from his hospital bed, but not his bed, his missus Sandra is just being treated in hospital at the moment. 'Sandra, if you're listening in - I think she wanted to watch Emmerdale, but Harry's making her watch this race - I really hope King of Bears runs well. 'He's a character. He could win it, he could finish last, but he gives Jack Doughty a big chance for [trainer] George Scott.' However in the end, the King of Bears didn't win the race. Instead the 7/1 shot placed sixth. Sandra has been married to the former football manager for 57 years now. The pair were just 17 when they got together, and just three weeks ago on their anniversary he said: 'Where does the time go? I would be lost without you Sandra.' Harry and Sandra, both 78, literally wrote the book on marriage, publishing: "When Harry Met Sandra: Our Story' in 2022. With a date in the Two Puddings pub in East London in 1963, they soon married and had two children, Mark and Jamie, and grandchildren. Their relationship hit the public eye when Harry's adoration for his wife was seen shortly before he won I'm A Celebrity. On This Morning, revealing the secrets to a happy marriage, Harry said in 2022: 'You meet somebody, and you fall in love, and we just never fell out of love. But as the ex-footie boss fetched her home following surgery, he revealed that he had misjudged how far she had crossed a road after dropping her at shops. Embarrassed Redknapp said: 'I thought she'd crossed. 'As I went to drive off, I drove over her ankle, basically. She fell head first into the road. The couple tied the knot on June 30, 1968 at Barking Abbey church and since then she has been by Harry's side supporting him with his successful football career both on and off the pitch. After they met at the pub, the couple tied the knot four years later in 1967. Harry Redknapp has stated during his time in the jungle that he has never ironed his own shirt, cooked or cleaned for himself through their marriage. My friend Jim O'Neill, who has died of a heart attack aged 65, found his calling 20 years ago when he passed the London taxi cab 'Knowledge' test. A devoted Spurs fan who lived his entire life in Ilford, east London, and thus on the face of it a black cab driver straight out of central casting, Jim upended the profession's sometimes negative stereotype with his socialist views, unstinting kindness and cheerful embrace of everyone of every background, even West Ham fans. Born in Ilford, he was the second youngest of six children born to Catholic parents originally from County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, Bridie (nee Finlan), a nurse, and Jim O'Neill, a shop steward at the Ford car plant in Dagenham. After leaving Bishop Ward school in Dagenham aged 16, Jim worked as a labourer on building sites then as a house renovator, before being hired in 1990 as a supervisor on the Jubilee line extension project with the engineering company Drake & Scull, based in its South Woodford office. When the project came to an end after 15 years, Jim found himself on the dole and with a severely autistic son, James, to take care of. He was rescued by a friend who suggested he join him in the black cab profession. This was the life for Jim, giving him a stage for his cheerful temperament, scintillating wit and, most importantly, his practical philosophy of life, which was to do a good deed every day. Helping autistic children and adults get the most out of life was extremely important to him, but so too were his countless acts of kindness ferrying and assisting elderly people, disabled people and those who had fallen on hard times. Within his family and huge circle of friends from all walks of life, he was adored as a fount of wit, knowledge, outrageous soulboy dance moves and big-hearted charisma. In 1984 he married Gabby Pentek, who is now an office administrator for Age UK. She survives him, as do James, and Jim's siblings, Barry, Sean, Bridget, Ann and Bernadette.
