's (AI) current capabilities, describing it as 'the least impressive blah average of things.' Speaking on comedian Mike Birbiglia's "Working It Out" podcast, Docter shared his skepticism about AI's ability to fully replace humans in animated filmmaking, despite the ongoing anxieties sweeping through Hollywood.
According to a report by Business Insider, Docter acknowledged that everyone at Pixar is "troubled" by the advent of AI. However, he said that he believes it won't erase the human element from animation.
Pixar executive on why AI won't replace humans in animation
He drew a parallel to the early days of hand-drawn animation, where only a select "dozens" of artists possessed the unique combination of drawing skill, understanding of movement dynamics, and character acting sensibilities.
"Computers," Docter noted, made animation more accessible by removing the need for animators to be "brilliant draft persons." He sees AI as potentially serving a similar role, alleviating some of the more cumbersome tasks.

'I was wondering whether AI will continue to help us lift some of the heavy burdens that we have to carry as an animator and maybe put the focus more on the performance,' he explained.
This perspective suggests AI could free animators to concentrate more on the creative and expressive aspects of their work, rather than the more laborious technicalities.
His comments came at a time when AI remains a highly contentious topic in the entertainment industry. Critics fear widespread job displacement, a concern that heavily influenced the nearly five-month-long writers' strike in 2023.
Conversely, proponents like director James Cameron believe AI could significantly reduce filmmaking costs.

Harpal Singh Sokhi If you have been watching Laughter Chefs: Unlimited Entertainment, you have likely noticed judge Harpal Singh Sokhi, not just for his vibrant energy but also for his stylish chef coats and colourful turbans that add a unique flair to his on-screen presence. Chef Harpal has made it a point to move away from the traditional white chef coat. Talking to Mumbai Mirror, he says, 'The white chef coat is a symbol of pride for any chef, and I have around ten of them. But alongside those, I own nearly 60 colourful chef coats that reflect my personality. They create a different vibe and a different kind of energy. I like adding a bit of fashion and personality to the kitchen.' He adds, 'Wearing colourful chef coats is something I do for myself because I am a colourful person at heart. But I have noticed that people across the country have started experimenting with colourful coats after seeing me, and that is lovely. I often get compliments. That is enough. I just feel that, like food, which is made up of bright and vibrant ingredients, what we wear in the kitchen can bring that same joy and energy. ' His sense of colour extends to his turbans as well. I try to present the turban in a way that feels modern and personal while still honouring its cultural significance. ' Among his signature styles are his two tone turbans. He says, 'The first time I tried mixing two colours, it instantly felt right. It gave me a fresh look and lifted my mood. Over time, it became part of my daily wear. Wearing colourful turbans gives me confidence and makes me feel like myself. I have always loved colour, so playing with turban styles came naturally. It is now a form of self expression and my signature style. ' When it comes to fashion inspiration, Harpal follows his instincts rather than trends. 'I simply do what I love and what feels authentic to me. I have built my own identity, and I prefer to stay true to it. As a Sikh and a chef, my personality and how I style myself reflect who I am,' he concludes.
