Joey Harrington says Tez Johnson is the perfect fit for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Joey Harrington would know something about the quarterback and receiver relationship. During his time at Oregon and as well at the NFL level, Harrington got a bunch of quality receivers who are smart and understand the offense as well as he did.
Harrington sees Tez Johnson in that mold for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who took the former Duck receiver in the seventh round.
"Th one that has me intrigued is Tez (Johnson)," Harrington said on the Bleav in Oregon podcast with Zachary Neel and Jonathan Stewart. "Tez is never going to be a No. 1. He doesn't have the size, and at his size, he doesn't have the pure speed. But I played with a guy named Wes Welker. The thing I always knew when Wes was there was that he studied. He understood it like I understood it. Tez reminds me of Wes. Incredibly smart, incredibly hard-working, he's not afraid to go over the middle, and he is actually faster than Wes was.
"I love this landing spot. He has someone to take the pressure off on the outside (Mike Evans), he has a quarterback who is established (Baker Mayfield), smart and a good leader. It's a stable situation where he can step in and step in a hole and thrive."
If Harrington is correct, Johnson could be an absolute steal in the NFL draft and have another ring on his finger sooner rather than later.

He also said that scheduling will play a major role in whether he and other NFL stars can play, along with the NFL teams actually allowing players to play in them. Advertisement Regardless, he doubled down on wanting to play. "I would love to play in that game if given the opportunity," Robinson said. "But obviously, we'll see. I don't want it to affect my team and what we got going on here." This past season, Robinson rushed for 1,456 yards and 14 touchdowns, while also adding 61 catches for 431 yards and a score. Assuming the 23-year-old is healthy when the Olympics roll around, it's hard to imagine there is a more shifty and elusive option than him.
