Andhra Pradesh poised to emerge as a model for other States in agrivoltaics, says NSEF CEO
Addressing the A.P. State Consultation Workshop on 'Agrivoltaics', organised by the NSEFI, New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP) and Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation, here on Wednesday, Mr. Subrahmanyam said that with its vast agricultural landscape, abundant solar resources, and a progressive policy framework, A.P. was poised to become the model for other States for agrivoltaics in India.
He asserted that A.P.'s approach to agrivoltaics (using land for both agriculture and solar power generation) would not only accelerate its energy transition but also provide a replicable model for other States.
The NSEFI was working closely with agricultural universities for aligning agrivoltaics with the specific needs of the State's diverse agro-climatic zones.
'It is crucial to integrate climate-resilient agricultural practices with agrivoltaic systems. Combining solar energy with farming can not only provide farmers with an additional source of income but also help them in adapting to changing climate conditions, thereby ensuring sustainable growth in the two sectors,' Mr. Subrahmanyam added.
NREDCAP Vice-Chairman & Managing Director M. Kamalakar Babu said A.P. had been a front-runner in the adoption of solar energy, and agrivoltaics could further strengthen the rural economy and energy resilience.
A.P. was making rapid progress in RE, particularly on the solar power front, which was essential for the State's sustainable growth.
The integration of solar panels with agriculture would facilitate the generation of additional revenue for farmers while ensuring sustainable power generation for the State. In areas like Rayalaseema, where small crops like pulses and millets were primarily cultivated, agrivoltaics offer an opportunity to diversify farmers' income streams, Mr. Babu added.

Tesla leases space in New Delhi's Aerocity for 3rd showroom in India
The Indian arm of the US electric carmaker Tesla has leased retail space in New Delhi's Aerocity for its third showroom in India. The space has a monthly rent of Rs 17.22 lakh, with a 15 per cent escalation every three years. Tesla India Motor & Energy has signed a nine-year lease for the space, according to property registration information shared by CRE Matrix, a real estate data analytics company. The retail unit on the ground floor of Worldmark 3 in Aerocity spreads 8,200 square feet, translating to a starting monthly rent of Rs 210 per sq ft. Tesla has deposited Rs 1.03 crore as security deposit, which has a three-year lock-in period. The transaction was registered with administrative authorities on July 30 this year, but the lease started on March 15 and rent from July 13. Along with the retail space, Tesla will get 10 parking slots for Rs 6,000 each per month. It will pay common area maintenance charges of Rs 33.5 per sq ft per month. Earlier this week, Tesla leased a retail space in Gurgaon for nine years to run its second showroom in India at a monthly rent of Rs 40.17 lakh. This space will function as a service centre, delivery centre, and retail store. The rent at this location will increase by 4.75 per cent annually. The Gurgaon showroom is located on the ground floor of Orchid Business Park on Sohna Road and covers 33,475 sq ft, implying a monthly rent of Rs 120 per sq ft. In March, Tesla leased showroom space in Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) — India's most expensive commercial district —for a starting monthly rent of Rs 35.26 lakh (Rs 888 per sq ft). Telangana urges Centre's nod for Rs 6,895-crore green energy corridor; seeks tourism, welfare funds
HYDERABAD: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Thursday met Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in Delhi and requested him to approve the Intra-State Transmission System (In-STS) proposal submitted by TGTRANSCO under the Green Energy Corridor Phase 3 project. Vikramarka informed the Union minister that under the third phase of GEC, the Solar Energy Corporation of India had initially identified Renewable Energy zones with a total capacity of 13.5 GW across five districts of Telangana for the evacuation of power generated from wind, solar and pumped storage projects. Later, after extensive consultations with SECI and TGREDCO, and considering land availability and renewable energy potential, the RE zones were revised to 19 GW, now covering eight districts of the state. In accordance with this revision, TGTRANSCO prepared and submitted a comprehensive proposal to the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), comprising eight transmission schemes with a cumulative power evacuation capacity of 19 GW and an estimated project cost `6,895 crore. In view of this, the deputy CM urged the Union minister to expedite the approval process for this proposal as it would aid the state in accelerating its green power development.
