Famous Perth model reveals major injury after scary accident
Gemma Ward has revealed she endured a severe injury following a freak surfing accident, explaining her absence from social media.
The 37-year-old Perth-born model took to Instagram on Monday, where she told her 222,000 followers she fractured three vertebrae in her spine during a surfing mishap.
She also said that in the wake of her scary injury, she had to keep working, even flying to Paris for a Lancôme photoshoot, which Ward described as 'an honour' to take part in.
The tragic update was the blonde beauty's first post to Instagram since January.
'A lot has happened since I last posted. I fractured 3 vertebrae's in my spine from a surfing accident, flew to paris to shoot for Lancôme again which was a complete honour but in the wake of my accident I forgot to renew my passport so I had to get an emergency one and nearly missed the whole shoot,' she wrote in the caption. She is now focused on working on her 'strength and rehabilitation', writing a novel and raising her three young kids.
'Hope you are all doing well and getting some rest here and there,' she finished.
Several of her famous friends flooded the comments section of the post with well-wishes.
Fellow Aussie Nicole Trunfio wrote: 'So many emotions. Get better soon. Miss you and the babes and a NOVEL?? I cannot [wait] to read!'

Dua Lipa confirms engagement to Callum Turner
Dua Lipa and Callum Turner are engaged. The Levitating singer's fans spotted she was wearing a diamond ring on her wedding finger in an Instagram post on Christmas Eve (24.12.24), and she's now confirmed the 35-year-old actor popped the question with a custom piece of jewellery he had made with the advice of her sister Rina and her best friends. Dua told the new issue of Britain's Vogue magazine: "Yeah, we're engaged. It's very exciting." Of her ring, she added: 'I'm obsessed with it. It's so me. It's nice to know the person that you're going to spend the rest of your life with knows you very well.' However, the couple - who began dating in January 2024 - have yet to set a wedding date because of their busy work schedules. Dua, 29, said: 'I want to finish my tour, Callum's shooting, so we're just enjoying this period. "I've never been someone who's really thought about a wedding, or dreamt about what kind of bride I would be. "All of a sudden I'm like: 'Oh, what would I wear?'' Although Dua has seen people get engaged in the past, she had "never really understood the weight of it' but now she thinks committing to another person is "special". She said: 'This decision to grow old together, to see a life and just, I don't know, be best friends forever – it's a really special feeling.' The Dance the Night Away hitmaker is keen to have a family of her own but admitted she doesn't know when would be a "good time" because of the demands of her pop career. She said: "I'd love to have kids one day. But it's like the constant question of when would there ever be a good time – how it would fit in with my job and how it would work if I went on tour, and how much time out I'd have to take. "I think it's just one of those things that's going to happen when it happens. I love kids, but I think there's so much more to raising a child than just loving children.' Dua and Callum had "many Sliding Doors moments", where they were in the same place at the same time without realising, before being introduced to one another at the River Cafe in London. A year later, she was having dinner in Los Angeles with her friend Mustafa the Poet when "all of a sudden" Callum appeared. She thought: 'Oh, it's that really hot guy from The River Cafe.' During their conversation, the pair realised they both "just happened to be reading" Hernan Diaz's novel Trust. Asked if she feels they were destined to be together, she replied: 'One thousand per cent.'

Will Smith rocked London with a surprise street performance
Will Smith electrified London with a surprise street performance on Wednesday (11.06.25) evening. Crowds flocked to the impromptu show outside of the city's King's Cross Station, where the 56-year-old star teamed up with DJ AG for a live rendition of his and Jazzy Jeff's hit Summertime - which was released in 1991 under Will's Fresh Prince alias - and the theme from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Those lucky enough to catch a glimpse of Will's surprise set shared their videos on social media, delighting even more fans. One person said on Instagram: "Legendary moment." A TikTok user wrote: "This is so nice to see, DJ AG you've come a LONG WAY!! Big up Will Smith and DJ AG every time." Another person on the video-based platform penned: "Wow, Will Smith this is incredible. This is amazing. I'm so jealous." Special guest Rita Ora suddenly rocked up and displayed some dance moves as Will and DJ AG got the crowd dancing and singing. And after Will was whisked away in a car, Rita performed some of her hit tracks, including Hot Right Now and R.I.P. Singer Jamelia hyped up the vast crowds before Will's surprise performance at 6pm. She sang her much-loved track Superstar, as well as her popular song Thank You. Will's appearance comes as he prepared to reunite with DJ Jazzy Jeff to play at Capital's Summertime Ball with Barclaycard at Wembley Stadium on Sunday (15.06.25). The star never did headline shows when he was part of hip-hop duo DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, who were responsible for creating hits including Boom! Shake the Room and Summertime. Will recently released his first full-length album in 20 years, Based on a True Story, and he is thrilled to be going on a global tour to support his new LP, as well as treat audiences with nostalgic hits. Appearing on the Broken Record Podcast, the star said: "This will be the first time ever that we put together a tour, and I get to headline a world tour. "I have my 90 minutes, I had never been on stage for 90 minutes before. "So I did two shows in San Diego a couple of months ago, it was wild. "The world is so desperate for nostalgia right now. "The world wants that so bad, and it's like people [are] just yearning for, you know, a time when things were a little bit easier."

MasterChef star Julie Goodwin looks dramatically different in new TV appearance
Don't miss out on the headlines from Celebrity Life. Followed categories will be added to My News. MasterChef star Julie Goodwin has stunned fans in a new TV appearance and social media video. The TV personality and author, 54, first found fame after winning the cooking show back in 2009, beating runner-up Poh Ling-Yeow, and later returned to the franchise for the All Stars edition. Goodwin took to Instagram this week to spruik a cooking segment on Sunrise and also share a sponsored advertisement for a cleaning product – but followers were quick to point out that she looks different. One admitted they 'almost didn't recognise' her with others commenting she 'look[ed] so different'. Fans pointed out that Goodwin looked dramatically different in her new post. Picture: Instagram She also popped up on Sunrise this week. Picture: Instagram In 2016, Goodwin opened up about accidentally losing 20kgs, pointing out it was no cause for celebration. 'It's not that I've gone on some stupid, sad diet and dropped a whole heap of weight in a hurry. It's not anything like that,' she told Women's Weekly at the time. 'I am running a business and running around like a mad thing, and sometimes I forget to eat, none of which is healthy.' After her MasterChef win, Goodwin went on to establish a successful career as a cookbook author, columnist, and regular TV contributor, but later admitted she had struggled with her mental health amid her rising fame. She has been in the public eye for nearly two decades. She spoke about it on the Head Game podcast in March, describing it as going 'right down to the bottom of the well'. 'I had made a decision that everybody, everybody, my colleagues, my children, my husband, my family, everybody would be better off if I just racked off and let them all be,' Goodwin said of her battle with depression and anxiety. 'I just had nothing left. It's a sickness, right, severe depression is a serious illness,' she explained. 'The only way I could shut off my brain late at night, was to drink wine, so I was doing too much of that. So I was self-medicating, and that's a terrible, terrible way to sleep, because you wake up with your heart hammering.' Fortunately, as Goodwin recently told Nine Honey, she's now doing much better – but admitted it was an ongoing effort. 'I'm good, I really am. But it's a concentrated effort to remain good, you know.' Originally published as MasterChef star Julie Goodwin looks different in new TV appearance
