PFL announces title eliminator for Usman Nurmagomedov; Paul Hughes calls out 'rage bait'

PFL will determine the next title challenger for lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov this month, much to the dismay of Paul Hughes.
The promotion announced on Friday that a lightweight title eliminator between Mansour Barnaouri and Archie Colgan has been added to its 2025 PFL World Tournament 6 event on June 20, which takes place at INTRUST Bank Arena in Wichita, Kan. (ESPN, ESPN+).

According to the announcement post, the winner will be granted a fight against undefeated 155-pound Champions Series titleholder Nurmagomedov (19-0), who hasn't competed since a thrilling victory over Hughes (14-2) in January.
The news seemingly came as a surprise and frustration to Hughes, who called for a rematch with Nurmagomedov after a quick knockout win over Bruno Miranda at 2025 PFL Europe 1 in Belfast in May. He quickly replied to the announcement post, labeling it as "rage bait."
Barnaouri (22-6) is coming off a third-round submission of surging prospect Alfie Davis in November, which came after a first-roudn finish of Yusuke Yachi in May. Colgan (11-0), meanwhile, has put together an undefeated career so far that is highlighted by wins over former Bellator title contender Emmanuel Sanchez and UFC veteran Thibault Gouti.
The latest lineup for 2025 PFL World Tournament 6 now includes:
Gadzhi Rabadanov vs. Kevin Lee
Liz Carmouche vs. Elora Dana
Mansour Barnaoui vs. Archie Colgan
Mando Gutierrez vs. Justin Wetzell
Marcirley Alves da Silva vs. Jake Hadley
Alfie Davis vs. Brent Primus
Jena Bishop vs. Katerina Shakalova
Sarvadzhon Khamidov vs. Magomed Magomedov
Antonio Caruso vs. Vinicius Cenci
Darragh Kelly vs. Chuka Willis
Lazaro Dayron vs. Matheus Mattos
Ilara Joanne vs. Saray Orozco
Alan Dominguez vs. Nick Meck

College World Series bracket: Schedule, matchups for 2025 NCAA baseball championship

The biggest stage in college baseball, the one that hundreds of teams across the country begin their seasons dreaming about in the dead of winter, is finally here. With the end of the super regional round of the 2025 NCAA tournament, which wrapped up Monday with Murray State's 5-4 win against Duke, the eight-team field for the College World Series has been set, with festivities beginning on June 13 from Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska. Five of the eight teams remaining in the national championship hunt are national seeds, a group led by No. 3 Arkansas, which is seeking its first ever CWS title. Unlike last year, when the field was evenly split with four SEC teams and four ACC teams, seven different conferences are represented in the 2025 CWS, including Oregon State, which played as an independent program this season following the dissolution of the Pac-12. Here's a look at the College World Series bracket, including matchups, teams and the schedule: College World Series matchups The 2025 College World Series will open with four games. The winners of those games will advance to play one another while the losers will do the same, with the latter aiming to avoid elimination with a second loss. Rajon Rondo gets thrown into Knicks head coach search

The post Rajon Rondo gets thrown into Knicks head coach search appeared first on ClutchPoints. The New York Knicks' search for a new head coach continues to generate buzz following the firing of Tom Thibodeau on Tuesday. Among the latest names floated is former NBA point guard Rajon Rondo, who was suggested by ESPN analyst Jay Williams during Wednesday's broadcast of Get Up on ESPN. Advertisement Williams acknowledged that Rondo lacks formal head coaching experience but emphasized the respect Rondo commands across the league for his basketball IQ and leadership. 'I'm going to give a dark horse guys and I'm sure everybody's going to react to it because he has no head coaching experience,' Williams said. 'But if you ask any NBA player how they feel about Rajon Rondo they always talk about how brilliant of an IQ that he has. And the fact that defensively, offensively he's great at building schemes on the fly. Ask Doc Rivers on those championship teams that he's won.' Rondo, 38, retired from the NBA in 2024 after a 16-year career that included stints with the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, and several other franchises. He won two NBA championships — one with Boston in 2008 and another with the Lakers in 2020. His career accolades include four All-Star selections, an All-NBA Third Team nod, five All-Defensive Team honors, and multiple statistical titles, including three for assists and one for steals. Rajon Rondo's coaching interest resurfaces as Knicks weigh options Williams noted Rondo's potential value to the Knicks given his knowledge of the Eastern Conference and his potential to elevate Jalen Brunson's game. Advertisement 'I'm not saying he's going to win,' Williams added, 'But I definitely think that's a name that people should consider to be an NBA head coach at this level because of his familiarity in the Eastern Conference and because of unlocking other guards in Jalen Brunson.' Rondo has previously expressed interest in coaching but had postponed formal steps in that direction to focus on raising his children. He participated in training camp with Doc Rivers and the Milwaukee Bucks ahead of the 2024–25 season as a guest coach and was expected to remain around the team throughout the year. Thibodeau was dismissed after five seasons with a 226-174 regular-season record and a 24-23 mark in the playoffs. His tenure included four playoff appearances and the franchise's first Eastern Conference Finals berth since 2000. He previously served as an assistant under former Knicks coach Jeff Van Gundy from 1996 to 2001. Van Gundy was also mentioned during Wednesday's Get Up by ESPN's Brian Windhorst, who suggested the Knicks should consider a potential reunion. 'Keeping Up With Taylor Swift' Serving As Travis Kelce Motivation?

'Keeping Up With Taylor Swift' Serving As Travis Kelce Motivation? originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is embarking on what many think will be his last NFL season, and his motivation for turning his form around might just be his girlfriend, Taylor Swift. Advertisement With the pair seen as the biggest power couple on the planet right now, there isn't much that the pair does that doesn't get attention. Kelce is coming off a poor season, and for ESPN's Hannah Storm, she jokingly thinks that Travis' motivation for 2025 might be Swift due to her ability to have such long concerts on back-to-back nights. 'Can I just say, he's got to keep up with his girlfriend, who can do a three-and-a-half-hour concert without skipping a beat,' Storm said on SportsCenter. 'And she does it back-to-back nights, you gotta keep up." Taylor Swift (left) and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce (right).Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images So will Kelce get his 2025 motivation from Swift and her efforts on tour? Possibly. Advertisement With the couple able to navigate some troubled seas after the Super Bowl loss, now they appear to be better than ever, with Travis now looking to end his storied career in a good way. It isn't known if Swift will be in attendance at any of the Chiefs' home games, given the scrutiny aimed at her and Travis after the Super Bowl, but we imagine she will make herself known a couple of times this year. As far as Travis' motivation for 2025, he doesn't have to look any further than how last year ended, but if he is short on it as he enters Year 13, then maybe looking at how Swift conducts herself might be the next step for the future Hall of Famer.
