Angela Hill: 'I'm right there' for title shot with UFC on ESPN 72 win vs. Iasmin Lucindo
Angela Hill might be 40, but she still thinks her most glorious MMA moments still are on the horizon. Longtime octagon veteran Hill (18-14 MMA, 13-14 UFC) will take on 23-year-old Iasmin Lucindo (17-6 MMA, 4-2 UFC) on Saturday at UFC on ESPN 72, which takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas (ESPN, ESPN+). With three victories in her past four fights, Hill sees herself on an upward trajectory in the strawweight division. She has no thoughts about retirement, and argues that beating a promising prospect who is 17 years her junior would be a statement about where she fits in the weight class. "I think I've really expanded the idea of what the window could be," Hill told MMA Junkie Radio. "I think just keeping that momentum going and see how long I can push it, see how good I can get, how high I can climb. I'm motivated by the close decisions I've lost because I feel like in an alternate universe, I would've fought for the belt by now. "It's more so the motivation of showing the potential I have before it's too late. That drives me every time I get in there. Now that I've been in the top 15 for a few years, I know I'm right there." Lucindo has had a quick rise through the 115-pound division, already racking up wins over former title challenger Karolina Kowalkiewicz and longtime contender Marina Rodriguez. The Brazilian is coming off a setback against Amanda Lemos at UFC 313 in March, and although Hill also has a loss to Lemos, she said it was much more competitive. Hill is not relying on MMA math to get the job done, but she sees vulnerabilities in Lucindo's game, and intends to take advantage. "If I'm fighting someone that likes to stand and bang, I'm like, 'Oh yeah, we're going to get that money,'" Hill said. "It's also nice because there's more opportunities to take advantage of someone with less experience. I feel like with her, because she's a little wild, because she comes in swinging wide and tries to throw big, there's moments where I can capitalize on that. I'm definitely excited."

What intrigues Rose Namajunas most about Kayla Harrison vs. Amanda Nunes fight
What intrigues Rose Namajunas most about Kayla Harrison vs. Amanda Nunes fight ATLANTA – Rose Namajunas says Kayla Harrison vs. Amanda Nunes will be very good for women's MMA. Newly crowned UFC bantamweight champion Harrison (19-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) is expected to make her first title defense against the returning Nunes (23-5 MMA, 16-2 UFC), who once reigned over both the 135 and 145-pound divisions. Former strawweight champion Namajunas (13-7 MMA, 11-6 UFC), who meets Miranda Maverick (15-5 MMA, 8-3 UFC) in Saturday's UFC on ESPN 69 co-headliner (ESPN, ESPN+) at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, gave her take on the matchup. "I'm definitely very excited for that fight," Namajunas told MMA Junkie and other reporters during Wednesday's pre-fight news conference. "It'll be interesting to see how Kayla Harrison deals with Amanda's striking. I think that's probably mostly what everybody might be thinking or might be the big question, but Kayla, her striking is looking better and better each time she gets in there. So, it'll be interesting to see if she can get her hands on Amanda, but Amanda's got great jiu-jitsu, and she's super strong." When asked who she thinks will win, Namajunas admitted that her answer is a little biased. "Prediction? I don't know if I have one yet, but I love them both, and Kayla Harrison made me a huge fan of hers," Namajunas said. "Just the way that she represented her faith in Jesus, and she just put it out there, and spreads the Gospel. I'm a little biased when it comes to that, so I'm going to be rooting for her, but Amanda Nunes is obviously the greatest so, yeah, I'll be watching."

PFL announces title eliminator for Usman Nurmagomedov; Paul Hughes calls out 'rage bait'
PFL will determine the next title challenger for lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov this month, much to the dismay of Paul Hughes. The promotion announced on Friday that a lightweight title eliminator between Mansour Barnaouri and Archie Colgan has been added to its 2025 PFL World Tournament 6 event on June 20, which takes place at INTRUST Bank Arena in Wichita, Kan. (ESPN, ESPN+). Advertisement According to the announcement post, the winner will be granted a fight against undefeated 155-pound Champions Series titleholder Nurmagomedov (19-0), who hasn't competed since a thrilling victory over Hughes (14-2) in January. The news seemingly came as a surprise and frustration to Hughes, who called for a rematch with Nurmagomedov after a quick knockout win over Bruno Miranda at 2025 PFL Europe 1 in Belfast in May. He quickly replied to the announcement post, labeling it as "rage bait." Barnaouri (22-6) is coming off a third-round submission of surging prospect Alfie Davis in November, which came after a first-roudn finish of Yusuke Yachi in May. Colgan (11-0), meanwhile, has put together an undefeated career so far that is highlighted by wins over former Bellator title contender Emmanuel Sanchez and UFC veteran Thibault Gouti. The latest lineup for 2025 PFL World Tournament 6 now includes: Gadzhi Rabadanov vs. Kevin Lee Liz Carmouche vs. Elora Dana Mansour Barnaoui vs. Archie Colgan Mando Gutierrez vs. Justin Wetzell Marcirley Alves da Silva vs. Jake Hadley Alfie Davis vs. Brent Primus Jena Bishop vs. Katerina Shakalova Sarvadzhon Khamidov vs. Magomed Magomedov Antonio Caruso vs. Vinicius Cenci Darragh Kelly vs. Chuka Willis Lazaro Dayron vs. Matheus Mattos Ilara Joanne vs. Saray Orozco Alan Dominguez vs. Nick Meck This article originally appeared on MMA Junkie: PFL announces Nurmagomedov title eliminator; Hughes reacts
