TN CM reviews Ungaludan Stalin public outreach prog from hospital
He reviewed the conduct of camps for the public outreach programme 'Ungaludan Stalin' (Stain with you) through video conference from the hospital room with Kanyakumari district collector R Alagu Meena, Kancheepuram collector Kalaiselvi Mohan, and Coimbatore collector Pawankumar G Giriyappanavar.
During this review, the Chief Minister told them to take appropriate and immediate action on the petitions received from the people at the camps.
Later, in a post on the social media platform 'X' Stalin said he reviewed with the officials on whether the camps for Ungaludan Stalin were being held as planned, how many petitions were received from the public till July 22, and the action taken to resolve the petitions.
'I have instructed the Chief Secretary (N Muruganandam) to gather all the details and ensure that there is no delay in resolving the people's problems," the CM said.
He was admitted to a hospital here on July 21 due to 'mild giddiness" that he developed during the morning walk. Doctors attending on him advised the Chief Minister rest for three days. PTI JSP ROH

Punjab: Maximum adulteration in ‘paneer', ‘desi ghee', says health minister
The maximum adulteration has been found in 'paneer' and 'desi ghee', Punjab and family welfare minister Dr Balbir Singh said on Wednesday. The minister said out of 531 samples of 'paneer', 196 samples were found sub-standard and 59 were unsafe for consumption. 'There is maximum adulteration in paneer (cheese) and 'desi ghee' (clarified butter),' said Singh. The sample results of unsafe paneer show that starch or some chemicals were used to make them, he said. Punjab and family welfare minister Dr Balbir Singh Regarding 'desi ghee', the minister said the health authorities took 222 samples and of which 20 were of sub-standard quality and 28 were unsafe for consumption. The minister advised people to purchase 'paneer' and 'desi ghee' from known sources like Verka. The minister informed that in the last five years, around 145 people were convicted and sentenced to six months' imprisonment for making unsafe products, especially 'paneer' and 'desi ghee'. Dr Balbir Singh also exhorted people to make maximum use of the 'Food Safety on Wheels' initiative, which has now been expanded to all districts. These mobile food testing vans are equipped for screening of adulteration among major categories of food, including milk, paneer, water and other daily consumables. 'I urge every individual to get their food tested,' said the health minister. The minister informed that under the current state government, a total of 18,559 enforcement samples along with 12,178 surveillance samples have been collected by the department. Additionally, over 13,000 samples have been screened for adulteration on Food Safety on Wheels so far, he said, while adding that the major categories include paneer, ghee, milk, spices, fruits and vegetable, sweets, khoa, etc. (With PTI inputs)

City docs replace heart valve via electrosurgery in woman
Jaipur: For the first time in India, doctors at Jaipur's Rajasthan Hospital (RHL) have successfully performed the country's first electrosurgical valve-in-valve mitral procedure, officials said Wednesday. The patient, a 74-year-old woman from Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar, had earlier undergone open-heart surgery for dual valve replacement and was facing heart failure again due to a malfunctioning mitral valve. The mitral valve is one of four valves in the heart and is located between the heart's upper left (left atrium) and lower left chamber (left ventricle). It directs blood from left atrium to left ventricle. According to officials, the doctors in Srinagar and Delhi ruled out conventional surgery due to her age and fragile health condition. Subsequently, the family approached the private hospital in Jaipur for treatment, where the surgery was performed. Dr Ravindra Singh Rao, chairman of RHL Heart Centre, and his team operated on her using an advanced electrosurgical technique. "Using a minimally invasive catheter-based approach, the team employed precision electrosurgical tools, including a fine electrified wire, to precisely open part of the malfunctioning mitral valve and implant a new one, all without opening the chest," Dr Rao said in a release. This procedure is informally referred to as the Batman procedure, as a catheter with a deflated balloon is inserted into the patient's blood vessel to repair or replace the mitral valve.
