Cowboys 'Girl Dad' Dak Prescott Shares Emotional Father's Day Reflections
Cowboys 'Girl Dad' Dak Prescott Shares Emotional Father's Day Reflections originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Dak Prescott opened up about becoming a father for the second time following the Dallas Cowboys' final minicamp session Thursday — and his words hit home.
"I'm blessed. I'm blessed to have the opportunity to raise two girls alongside my fiancée, to have a beautiful family, a healthy family," Prescott said from inside The Star. "For me, it's just about being grateful and not taking a moment for granted when I'm with them."
He continued, speaking not just as a quarterback, but as a man who's endured loss, grief, and adversity.
'I understand the love my mom had for me in a different way now that I have kids,'' he said. "When you've had some of the adversity I've had, you're so thankful — for everything. The good, the bad, anything in between … it just makes me even more focused on the small moments.'
Dak's mother Peggy died from colon cancer in 2013. His brother Jace, died by suicide earlier in 2020. And so yes ... the small moments matter.
Dak and Sarah Jane Ramos are now the parents of two baby girls, Margaret Jane "MJ'' Rose and their newborn, Aurora Rayne. ... and the "girl dad'' can't stop grinning when he talks of them.
As a fellow father of two, I can relate deeply. Kids change your perspective in ways no career milestone ever could. You start seeing life through their eyes — where everything feels new again. Ordinary moments become joy-filled. Small things become big.
And when you live that way, it sharpens your focus. You begin doing things not just for yourself, but for something far more important — your children. You want to be present. You want to be excellent. You want to maximize every moment, because you realize how fast they go.
That goes for Father's Day this weekend. It goes for every day.
Dak's message wasn't just emotionally personal; it was powerful. ... Because as any parent who's truly locked in knows: fatherhood doesn't distract you from your purpose. It clarifies it.

Caitlin Clark Bracing For Punishment After Fever-Liberty Game
Caitlin Clark Bracing For Punishment After Fever-Liberty Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark returned from injury on Saturday afternoon when Sabrina Ionescu and the New York Liberty came to town. Advertisement Clark suffered her quad strain on May 24 against the Liberty, forcing her to miss the Fever's next five contests. Indiana dropped 3-of-5 games, falling to 4-5 heading into Saturday. In her return, it didn't take Clark long to show off her competitive spirit. With 4:37 left in the second quarter, Clark was arguing an out-of-bounds call with the officials, but she may have gone too far, picking up her first technical foul of the 2025 WNBA season. Indiana Fever guard Caitlin ClarkGrace Smith/IndyStar / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images The Fever wound up challenging the out-of-bounds call after Clark's technical, but it was upheld, and Indiana was charged with a timeout. Ionescu made the technical free throw. Advertisement Barring the league rescinding the technical foul, Clark likely has a $200 fine coming her way. In the WNBA, a player's first three technical fouls each result in a $200 fine. The next three (4-6) result in a $400 fine each. And seven or more technicals will end with a $800 charge. However, the WNBA changed the technical foul rules around this season, likely due to the increase in scheduled games from 40 to 44. In recent seasons, a seventh tech would also lead to a suspension. However, this year, they increased that number to eight. However, Clark may be used to paying some of these fines. During her rookie year, she picked up six technical fouls, which ended up being $1,800 in total fines. Diana Taurasi, Natasha Cloud and Teaira McCowan led the league with seven techs apiece. Advertisement Following the Liberty game, Clark and the Fever will have a couple of days off before getting a rematch with the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday.
