EastEnders actress Laila Morse has famous film star brother
She was introduced in 2000 as the matriarch of the Slater family and appeared for 16 years before departing initially.
It wasn't long before she returned, though, as she was reintroduced in 2018 before being written out again in 2021.
However, after a stint of a few episodes in 2022, she was permanently brought back in 2024, alongside great-grandson Freddie (played by Bobby Brazier).
With Mo having been a presence on EastEnders for so long, many fans might be aware her actress Laila Morse has a very famous film star for a brother.
EastEnders actress Laila Morse has a very famous film star brother
Laila's younger brother is Gary Oldman, who won the Oscar for Best Actor back in 2018 for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour.
The 67-year-old has appeared in many major films over the years, including in The Fifth Element, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, the Harry Potter series and Oppenheimer, among many others.
Gary was also recently knighted as part of the King's Birthday Honours.
Some might not be aware that Laila's break into acting is in part thanks to Gary, as he cast her in his 1997 film Nil by Mouth.
This was Laila's first foray into acting at the age of 51, and Gary's debut as a filmmaker.
She featured alongside Ray Winstone, Kathy Burke and Charlie Creed-Miles.
Laila's performance as the character of Janet won her the award of 'Most Promising Newcomer in any Category' at the British Independent Film Awards.
Another interesting fact is the link between Gary and the stage name 'Laila Morse', as the actress's real name is Maureen Oldman.
When Gary was in a relationship with Isabella Rossellini, she suggested to Maureen to use 'Laila Morse' as a stage name.
It is an anagram of 'mia sorella', which translates from Italian as 'my sister'.
EastEnders fans love that Laila Morse and Gary Oldman are related
The unique bit of trivia surrounding Laila and Gary being siblings always provides a lot of interest to EastEnders fans.
In a recent post on the EastEnders Reddit page, one person shared images of the two side-by-side saying: "Mo and Gary Oldman being siblings with [sic] never not be funny too me."
One person joked in response: "One is the greatest actor of our generation who has inspired millions and is beloved by all. The other is Gary Oldman."

EastEnders fans are all saying the same thing about Oscar Branning
EastEnders viewers are elated to have Oscar Branning returning to the BBC One soap – for one key reason. It was confirmed on Saturday that Oscar, the younger brother of Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa), will be returning to Walford following an eight year absence. The character, who was born on screen in 2007, is the son of Max (Jake Wood) and Tanya Branning (Jo Joyner). Bringing Oscar back is new executive producer Ben Wadey, who made quite the impact during his first episode last week, when he reintroduced Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan) after two decades. 'I'm very excited to bring Oscar Branning back to Walford and introduce viewers to him now that he's all grown up', he said. 'Oscar is very much a Branning which means there's going to be plenty of drama in store this summer.' It was also revealed that Netflix star Pierre Moullier will take on the role, as first reported by Metro in May. Pictures showed the actor filming on location alongside his on-screen sister, plus Ian and Peter Beale legends Adam Woodyatt and Thomas Law. The group seemed to be evading an attack from three thugs brandishing a cricket bat. Ben added: 'We're delighted to welcome Pierre as he takes on the role and can't wait for viewers to see him bring Oscar to life.' A new addition is always welcome on Albert Square – but even more so when fans are so enthused about the casting. Metro readers flocked to social media to comment on the striking resemblance between Pierre and Jake Wood, who is also tipped to reprise his Max role. 'Wowsers I'll give the casting directors something… the kid could be Max's IRL' said @thmshooper. @matricharchybaby added: 'He looks just like max omg.' 'Looks like Max. Excellent casting' commented @alaladelad. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Who's leaving Coronation Street? The latest gossip from Emmerdale? 'What a casting he's defo gonna be a mini Max' shared @mishybabez_. @guineasfinest agreed, writing: 'This unreal casting. Max Branning twin.' …and the replies didn't stop there. The last time we saw the character, he was portrayed by child star Charlee Hall. As a result, he was never at the centre of a huge story – though could be heard quite prominently during the reveal of Max's affair with Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner). More Trending Following the explosive fall out in that iconic Christmas Day episode, the youngster was crying upstairs. Tanya rushed to attend to him and pack her bags, and was sent tumbling down the staircase. On joining the serial drama, Pierre said: ''It keeps hitting me that I'm actually on Albert Square!' 'When I found out I was joining the Brannings, it was so exciting as they are such an iconic family, and I love that there are so many skeletons in the closet. The episode in question will air on E4 on at 7pm. Bloodthirsty Jez Blake (Jeremy Sheffield) has struck again, claiming the life of Ian, a social worker who he believed knew way too much. The crazed killer, as viewers know, has thus far killed Dilly Harcourt (Emma Johnsey-Smith) and Abe Fielding (Tyler Conti) since rocking up in the village. His murder spree, however, dates back decades, with the twisted gardener keeping track of all his victims' names in a notebook which he keeps close. An unexpected turn of events last week confirmed that one of those victims was none other than Dennis Savage (Joe Tracini), whose disappearance Dodger (Danny Mac) is investigating, unaware the culprit is much closer to home. In a bid to get answers, Dodger met with Tori's social worker Ian, who confirmed that a member of the Blake clan was harassing Dennis prior to his vanishing. That person was none other than Jez, who watched the secret meeting from afar, spooking Ian, who swiftly made tracks. However, as he got back to his car, he was confronted by Jez in an alley way, who proceeded to murder him. Feeling a rush as he did so, Jez returned to the flat and informed Martha (Sherrie Hewson), who was less than pleased to learn that he had shed more blood.
