Chandi Kubera Pasupathi Yagam concludes with ‘poornahuti' ceremony
Former ministers and notable dignitaries joined the final rituals, with Delhi-based spiritual and political leader Samudrala Venugopala Chary gracing the Rudra Pasupathi ceremony as chief guest. His presence added spiritual gravitas and national attention to the event.
Organized under the leadership of Vasudeva Sharma, President of the State Archaka Federation, the yagam was celebrated as a spiritually and culturally significant occasion. It was performed with heartfelt prayers seeking peace, prosperity, timely rains, robust harvests, and the overall welfare of the people of Telangana.
Prominent among those who joined the Yagnya included Tapala Venkatadri Charyulu, State Secretary; Anna Vajjula Sharma; and district representatives such as Chakravarti Charyulu from Jogulamba Gadwal. Others, including Lakshmikantacharyulu, Mahesh, and Ravi, played active roles in the rituals. Priests from numerous villages and mandals also participated, enriching the event with traditional knowledge and spiritual offerings. The organizing committee extended sincere thanks to all volunteers, priests, and supporters. Certificates of appreciation were awarded to individuals who contributed selflessly to the smooth execution of the multi-day event.
This culmination of the Chandi Kubera Pasupathi Yagam not only stood as a profound spiritual occasion but also as a unifying force for public well-being and social harmony across the state.

Pvt players likely to have limited access to data from GatiShakti portal
Private sector may soon have limited access to the PM GatiShakti national masterplan (NMP) portal as the government has 'nearly finalised' rules around it, a senior government official said. The GatiShakti national masterplan is a digital platform that intends to reshape how India approaches infrastructure development. 'The rules are being framed in a way that private sector companies will not be allowed to download data from the national masterplan portal,' the official told Business Standard. The extent of data sharing with the private sector has been decided by the respective line ministries that have integrated their data with the national masterplan. All the ministries and departments have uploaded every minute data related to its social and economic projects on the portal. They can access this data and plan their own projects or social initiatives around it. As a result, it is reducing duplication of efforts, and easing movement of goods and people. For over two years, the department for promotion of industry and internal trade has held inter-ministerial meetings and has done extensive consultations with various government departments and ministries on the matter. The idea behind giving access of the national masterplan to private players has been to help them in execution of infrastructure projects, depending on the extent to which data is shared. In the Union Budget announcement in February, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had said that certain data and maps from the PM GatiShakti portal will be provided to the private sector -- a move which could help them optimise last-mile delivery services and develop infrastructure-based applications. Ahmedabad-based Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-informatics (BISAG), under the administrative control of ministry of electronics and information technology (MeitY), is finalising the broader rules. BISAG's involvement is crucial since protocols for private users' access are sensitive considering security concerns, the official cited above said. At the moment, only state and central government ministries and departments can access the digital portal for detailed planning and implementation of infrastructure connectivity projects.

Tamil Nadu Blames Falling Birth Rate, Migration For Zero School Enrolment
Chennai: The Tamil Nadu School Education Department has confirmed that 207 government schools and 869 private schools have had "zero enrolment" this year. However, the state government clarified that it is not due to government neglect but to demographic changes, migration patterns, and parental choices. Responding to a media report on the closure of schools with no students, the department said the state's falling birth rate is the primary reason for the decline in admissions. Citing Census-based population projections, it noted that Tamil Nadu's total fertility rate (TFR) dropped from 1.68 in 2011-15 to 1.54 in 2021-25, with the number of children born annually falling from over 10.7 lakh in 2011 to 9.02 lakh in 2023, and further to 8.46 lakh in 2024 - a 6.2% drop in just one year. Of the 1,204 schools with zero enrolment across management categories, 208 are government-run (including Adi Dravidar welfare, tribal welfare, and municipal schools), with the majority located in rural or remote areas. In many of these localities, there are simply no children of school-going age, or children have moved with their families to towns, cities, or other states for employment. The department also pointed out that some families opt for private schools, paying fees for English-medium education despite the availability of nearby government institutions. While 72 per cent of zero-enrolment schools are in the self-financing category, officials stressed that government schools with no students will be reopened if new enrolments arise. Tamil Nadu currently has 37,595 government schools serving over 42.5 lakh students, and this academic year, 4,07,379 students have joined Class 1 in government and middle schools. The department listed several initiatives to attract and retain students - including smart classrooms, hi-tech labs, expanded noon meal schemes, recruitment to fill vacant teacher posts, school infrastructure upgrades, and extracurricular encouragement through sports and cultural festivals. Government data also showed that in 2024-25, government and aided schools have 1.75 lakh more students than private self-financing schools - countering perceptions of large-scale migration to private education. The department reiterated its commitment to increasing enrolment in the coming years.

Hassan/Mysuru: Jain mutt seer Swastishri Abhinava Charukeerthi Bhattaraka swami has alleged that vested interests are attempting to tarnish the image of the Dharmasthala. In a press release, the Shravanabelagola-based seer said the temple and the trust managing it, are known for their social service, which serves as a model for the country. Sadly, today he is subjected to false allegations which have no base or substance," the seer added. "It is highly condemnable that vested interests are spreading false news and are involved in defaming the temple. It is an insult to our society and culture," the seer said, adding that the attack was not just on the temple but on society as a whole. Meanwhile, in Mysuru, devotees of Dharmasthala will stage a protest Wednesday. A procession will begin from Mymul office on Bannur road at 10.30am and end at the DC office, where a memorandum will be submitted. Organisers said devotees and well-wishers are expected to participate in large numbers.
