New 32-stall Peranakan-themed food hall with HJH Maimunah, salt-baked chicken & fresh oysters
Running daily errands or indulging in some retail therapy at Parkway Parade? Well, if your stomach's beckoning you for some food, head down to basement 1 and explore the all-new Kopitiam Food Hall, which opened to the public on 31 Mar 2025.
In collaboration with the award-winning The Intan Home Museum, dine in a coastal and Peranakan-inspired ambience as you explore the massive space. Kopitiam Food Hall Parkway Parade boasts 32 stalls and seats 600 people. No matter what cravings you have, I'm sure you'll find something that's within your wheelhouse.
Taking centre stage at Kopitiam Food Hall Parkway Parade is Flint Specialty Grill & Bar, which serves an array of flame-kissed meats like Grilled Chicken Chop w Potato Salad (S$9.90) and Grilled Norwegian Salmon Fillet Fillet w Butter Rice (S$16.90).
We tried the Grilled USA Pork Loin w Potato Salad (S$12.90), beautifully presented on a wooden board and complemented with purple cabbage. The meat was surprisingly soft and paired ideally with the homemade apple sauce.
You can also take a seat at the bar stools and chill out over a glass of Tiger Beer (S$11) or (S$12). If alcohol isn't your jam, there are mocktails like Shirley Temple (S$8) and Virgina (S$8) available, too.
Located next door is Donburi. Oyster. Beer selling Fresh Oyster (S$11.80 for 3 pieces, S$22.80 for 6 pieces), and Japanese bento sets like (S$9.80).
Briyani lovers can swing by Nasi Kandar by Chef Syed to feast on plates of (S$8) or Beef (S$9). You can also enjoy side dishes like (S$4.50) and (S$4.50).
To be brutally honest, I was expecting to find an array of curries slathered over rice, similar to the ones I had in Penang Island… hmm.
If you're with a friend, why not try the luxurious Lamb Shank Set (S$18) like we did? It features a rich, succulent slab of lamb shank, achar and delicious biryani.
Craving for something hearty? Head to King Grouper Fish Soup for a piping-hot bowl of Fish Soup (S$10/S$12).
I also managed to enjoy my favourite Salt-Baked Boneless Thigh Noodles (S$7.90) at Lam's Noodle & Chicken. The meat is tender and nicely seasoned, pairing perfectly with the dry mee.
Another dish that I highly recommend is the Set (S$8.50) from Bali Bali Indonesia BBQ. It features an aromatic, charred piece of chicken leg slathered in yummy kicap manis, rice drizzled with creamy kurma gravy, a fiery sambal, and a piece of fried tempeh — perfection on a plate.
Old Hup Kee has crowd-favourite hawker fare like Fried (S$6.90/S$8.90), Oyster Omelette (S$10/S$12) and Carrot Cake (S$7.50/S$8.50).
I wasn't expecting to be blown away by the Hokkien (S$6.90/S$8.90), but I was! It was the drier rendition with your usual accompaniments like sotong, prawns, pork belly, and pork lard. It was decently flavourful with a little wok hei, and the golden-brown morsels of lard were great.
My colleague, Rachel and I even thought that it was better than our recent experience at Xiao Di Fried Prawn Noodle. Oh well, I hope the standard holds up when you visit, and that it wasn't just cooked decently well for the media shoot.
Our Muslim friends can look forward to stalls like HJH Maimunah Mini (nasi padang), Fitra Hainanese Rice (chicken rice), Royal Rojak, Tek-Tek Indomie & Nasi Goreng, and Kim Dae Bak Korean.
Kopitiam Food Hall Parkway Parade also has Blanco Court Beef Noodle, Ann Chin Popiah, Royal Rojak, Dan Lao Scrambled Egg, and many other stalls left for you to explore for yourself!

Missoma sale 2025: Shop Doechii and Bella Hadid's fave jewellery brand
The Missoma summer sale is an event we magpies like to mark in our diaries. Because if there's one thing we love more than shopping for new jewellery, it's shopping for new jewellery when there's a sale on. And while we're partial to a Van Cleef lookalike or a Cartier watch alternative, all eyes are on one of our fave affordable jewellery brands and the mega discounts available RN. Coming at you with the best discounts outside of Black Friday, Missoma's summer sale is offering up to 50% off (yep, you read that right) from 9 June to 2 July, so there's no time to dilly-dally, when stock is sold out, it's gone 4eva. 💔 When it comes to spending your hard-earned coin, you can rest assured that you're getting the best quality from Missoma. Designed exclusively in-house at their London studio, each piece is handmade by skilled artisans using responsibly sourced and 100% recycled 14ct and 18ct gold vermeil and sterling silver.'Whether you're getting on a flight or spending the summer staycation-ing, we've got you covered,' Marisa Hordern, founder and creative director at Missoma, said in a press statement. "We love to give our community exclusive offers to show our appreciation, which is why you can save on everything from best-selling pearls to timeless everyday essentials.' Shop the Missoma sale now Considering we're your besties, we couldn't let you scroll aimlessly through the site looking for the best Missoma pieces to shop. Instead, we've curated this edit of our fave pieces in the sale, plus, the most iconic celeb-approved pieces that you can bag for a hefty discount. Don't say we don't put you on. As seen on Bella Hadid. As seen on Selena Gomez. As seen on Simone Ashley. Now, we love Missoma for its tarnish-free options, incredible Bottega-inspired drop earrings and super-speedy delivery. But we'd be lying if we said the gaggle of VIP faces dripping in the brand hasn't won us over. The Swamp Princess – Doechii – was spotted wearing Missoma on the streets of NYC in June. And if this stylish queen is sporting something, we've got it on good authority that it's fashion girl-approved. As seen on Bella Hadid. While Doechii chose a gorge pair of Lucy Williams Gold Plated Entwined Hoops to top off her playfully tailored look, Bella Hadid was recently snapped in the Square Pearl Statement Earrings – an apt choice for anyone looking to invest in some timeless studs. As seen in The White Lotus. Although gold often complements warm-toned skin and olive undertones, I found that – after getting a personal colour analysis – my cool undertones actually make me much more suited to platinum and silver jewellery. I'm hoping to nab the Savi Dome Mini Hoop Earrings in the sale. The right necklace can take your fit from basic to brilliant in a matter of seconds, which is why you should never sleep on a versatile chain or head-turning pendant necklace. Whether you like a nice lil stack or love to go all out with an eye-catching, gem-studded cocktail ring, Missoma is here to make sure your fingers get the love they deserve. A diamond tennis bracelet is a classic choice that also makes for a great gift. It's a luxe finishing touch for a wedding guest outfit, pretty summer dress, or cocktail look. If you're more of a bangle girlie, DW, there's options – the Savi Singature Hinged Bangle in Mixed Metal is top of my list. Follow Shadé on Instagram. Selena Gomez Oreo cookies are available starting June 9: Where to get them Show Caption Hide Caption Oreo maker sues Aldi over alleged copycat packaging Oreo maker and snack giant Mondelez is suing grocery chain Aldi over allegations that the chain's store-brand product 'blatantly copies' its famous cookies. unbranded - Newsworthy The Selena Gomez-inspired Oreos have officially hit stores. The Limited Edition Selena Gomez Oreo Cookies are inspired by her love of horchata, according to Oreo, and include a layer of chocolate and cinnamon flavor creme atop a layer of sweetened condensed milk flavor creme with cinnamon sugar inclusions, sandwiched between two chocolate cinnamon flavored wafers. According to the cookie brand, the new flavor "brings together Selena's passions and fandom into one deliciously dunkable bite." In addition to the cookie, Gomez also created six unique embossments designed with her fans in mind, including one that spells out "Selenators." There's also one exclusive cookie, found in approximately every three packs, that features Gomez's signature, marking the first time Oreo has ever put an autograph on a cookie, the company said in May. "Making my own OREO cookie was a lot of fun. I grew up loving them, so being able to be a part of the process was a full-circle moment," Gomez said in a news release. "I wanted to find a way for it to feel comforting and have a bit of nostalgia from my childhood. The cinnamon flavor gives it this horchata feel, and I'm excited for my fans to try it." It's a wrap: McDonald's, Popeye's kick off latest fast food battle When and where can I get the Selena Gomez Oreos? The limited edition cookies have been available for presale in the U.S. since June 2 at They will begin rolling out at retailers nationwide starting June 9 and will be available only for a limited time, while supplies last. I moved from Switzerland to Thailand. I feel less pressure to be an 'Instagram mom' here.
This as-told-to essay is based on a conversation with Sandy Cacchione, a 41-year-old Swiss woman raising her daughter in Koh Samui, Thailand. She is also the founder of a destination-focused travel and events platform. It has been edited for length and clarity. I met my now-husband in 2009 on a popular diving island in Thailand. I was on vacation from my hometown of Basel, Switzerland, while he had stopped on the island to complete his divemaster training during a yearlong trip around the world. After dating long-distance for a year and a half, we decided to move to Koh Tao to work at the diving center where we had first met. It's an island in the Gulf of Thailand, just a ferry ride from Koh Samui. He became a diving instructor, while I started off as an underwater videographer and eventually became an instructor myself. We got married five years later, and although we loved the time we'd spent on that island, we were ready to settle down and start a family. Koh Samui, over 10 times bigger, offered the environment we were looking for, so we moved there instead. It's a perfect mix of the laid-back island lifestyle we love and all the amenities we need. There is a cinema, a shopping mall, an international airport, and hospitals and schools. When I was pregnant, my mother moved to Samui to be close to her first grandchild. I gave birth to my daughter in 2020, who is now five years old and enrolled in an international kindergarten on the island. I have a flexible daily routine I normally drop my daughter off by 9 a.m. and pick her up between 3:30 and 4 p.m. It's on the later side, since the earliest she can do is 8:30 a.m., but I don't like to rush in the mornings, and neither does she. It's a Montessori-inspired school that follows the English curriculum. In Switzerland, the school day usually starts around 8 a.m., so kids need to get up much earlier. In the afternoon, students typically return home for lunch. Moreover, different grades have different schedules. When I was visiting a friend in Switzerland, her two kids didn't have the same lunchtime. Coordinating is impossible; your whole day revolves around your kids. Many kids back in Switzerland also participate in lots of activities. As a mother, I probably would've felt pressured to enroll my daughter in something. While there are extracurricular activities for kids in Samui, there is no pressure to sign them up. Nobody will say, "Oh, your kid's not doing ballet?" Everyone's friendly and supportive. There's less pressure to be an 'Instagram mom' Social media here is more about traveling and breaking free from a conventional lifestyle. There is nothing about "I'm a perfect mom, this is what I did today." Even in my daughter's school, the kids get exposed to so many different cultures and learn to be more accepting of others from a young age. People living in Samui tend to be more open-minded. Most of the people I've met have already lived in other countries before; this is rarely their first stop. Family activities after school are limited When my daughter sees videos of other children playing at a park on YouTube or from friends back in Europe, and she says, "Mommy, can we go to the park?" I say, "Well, there's no park." There are indoor play spaces but hardly any well-maintained outdoor playgrounds or parks like the ones I've seen back in Switzerland. I've found that if you don't want to do an activity, it's difficult to just go somewhere and meet other families. You need to know where to go or arrange to meet someone somewhere. For teenagers, it's much harder to find things to do. Some hang out at the shopping mall, but getting around the island can be difficult. Walking here isn't easy — it's hot, there aren't many sidewalks, and there's no public transportation like buses or subways. The roads can be dangerous, so I'd never want my child riding a motorbike here. My daughter can enjoy being a child They're really kid-friendly here. There's so much space almost everywhere, and she can run around. Even in restaurants, you never feel shushed. We live up in the mountains, about 10 minutes from the main road. There is no road noise, and we have a nice view of the valley and a little bit of the ocean. It's very quiet and slow, even in the mornings. If I'm 10 minutes late dropping my daughter off, it's not a problem. Even as a mother, I'm not stressed. Do you have a story to share about raising a child after relocating to a new country?
