Eddie Redmayne won an Oscar for playing Professor Stephen Hawking, who lived with motor neurone disease (MND), in the acclaimed film The Theory of Everything.
MND is a fatal, rapidly progressing neurological disease that affects the brain and spinal cord, impairing people's ability to walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. Around 5,000 people are living with the condition in the UK at any one time.
The MND Association is focused on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by MND.
Eddie Redmayne told how his eyes were opened to the devastation caused by MND while he was researching and filming The Theory of Everything.
'I was struck by the brutality of MND, and how it robs so many people of a future with their families in the cruellest of ways,' he said.
'Every day in the UK, six people are diagnosed with MND and six people die from it. As the biggest charitable funder of MND research in the UK, the MND Association is working tirelessly to change this, investing in research to take us closer to effective treatments and a cure.
'This exciting partnership with Omaze will further the MND Association's vital work while shining a spotlight on MND, and the needs of those affected by it.'

Mother-of-two lands £4million Omaze mansion off £25 ticket... but her husband thought they had won a lifetime supply of SAUSAGES
A mother-of-two has won a luxurious £4million property for just £25 - after her husband initially thought they'd landed a lifetime supply of sausages. Emily Ward, 48, is now the owner of a four-bedroom home in the exclusive Alderley Edge Conservation Area in Cheshire's Golden Triangle - a hot spot for Premier League footballers and celebrities. Her new home - snapped up in the latest Omaze Million Pound House Draw - comes with panoramic countryside views, a full indoor leisure suite and landscaped gardens. Ms Ward said: 'At first, my husband thought we'd won a lifetime supply of sausages, but then we realised it was actually a £4million house instead, now that's a real banger.' Famous residents past and present include Cristiano Ronaldo, Sir David and Victoria Beckham, Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, Peter Crouch and Abbey Clancy. Its celebrity attraction has earned it the reputation as the Beverly Hills of the North. Ms Ward's new home comes mortgage-free, with all legal fees covered and an additional £250,000 in cash to help her settle in. When Omaze first arrived at her house to tell her that they'd scooped a prize, she and husband Richard, 60, were out buying tent pegs for a new campervan, so neighbours reached out to her. She won a luxurious £4million property after buying a £25 ticket - but her husband initially thought they'd won a lifetime supply of sausages. The mother, from Devon, added: 'One of the Omaze team had a sandwich on their t-shirt - so the neighbour thought I'd won a lifetime supply of food. 'They posted in the WhatsApp group and I replied, 'If it's not Omaze or Premium Bonds, I'm not interested.' A few minutes later, Omaze were on the doorstep. 'My husband thought we might have won a lifetime's supply of sausages - which he was genuinely thrilled about. 'Winning this house is more a case of bangers and cash. 'I said we can cook all the sausages he wants in the new house, so my husband is doubly happy.' And what did they do to celebrate the banging win? 'We went to the pub that night and then for a nice dinner with friends the next evening, where we splashed out on a special bottle of champagne,' a cheery Ms Ward said. 'My jaw hurts because I haven't stopped smiling since we found out. 'When I told my friends, they were so happy for us but just kept saying "you're joking" no one could believe it. I still don't think I believe it.' On her new house, she said: 'The house is spectacular - I can see why it's so popular with millionaire footballers. 'It's crazy to think that I might bump into Wayne or Coleen Rooney when popping out for a pint of milk. 'The house has got everything you could ever possibly want - a swimming pool, sauna, gym, wine store, incredible countryside views-It's definitely in the premier league of houses. 'We can't wait to jump into the pool and test out the sauna - I wish I'd brought my costume.' Although the couple haven't decided whether to sell or keep the house yet, she added: 'We'll definitely enjoy the house for a family holiday - maybe we'll enjoy a big Christmas up here. 'We're so excited to experience a house like this because it's not the kind of place you get to visit every day, let alone own. 'Whatever we decide to do long-term, winning this house has changed all our lives forever, it's an incredible feeling.' Ms Ward, who has worked in the same career for 25 years, had always dreamed of scaling back on work to spend more quality time with her husband, their children and the family dogs - but didn't imagine it would ever become a reality. 'People say that money can't buy time, but winning a house worth millions means we can finally work less and spend more time together. 'This win will give us the freedom to go on adventures. We'd actually just bought a campervan to try and go away more as a family - it's fair to say winning this house is a bit of an upgrade on a campervan.' The couple, who have a large family between them - Richard has three grown-up children in their 30s and four grandchildren - are looking forward to hosting in the luxury kitchen and stunning outdoor terrace area. She added: 'I've always said if I ever won something like this, I'd focus on enjoying life properly. Now that dream's suddenly a reality. 'It means I can finally take a breath after 25 years of working flat out. It's not just a win, it gives us so many incredible opportunities for the future. 'It changes everything - not just for us, but for our children too. 'Thanks to the £250,000 we also get as part of our win, we could afford to stay here for years if we decided to. Or maybe we'll rent it out to a new Man City signing.' The striking new home features dramatic cantilevers, walls of glass and recessed balconies - offering more than 6,300 sq ft of light-filled living space across three floors. The layout includes a double-height living room, with a floor-to-ceiling glazed wall and a wraparound, south-facing terrace connects directly to the landscaped gardens below. On the first floor, the custom-built kitchen includes a range of high-end Miele appliances. On the ground floor, a full leisure suite features an indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and gym with dedicated changing facilities. There's also a walk-in wine store, as well as a fourth bedroom with additional shower room. The second floor has the principal bedroom suite, complete with an en suite bathroom and large dressing room overlooking the garden- alongside two further en suite bedrooms. The house also offers a standalone home office tucked into a secluded corner of the garden- offering Emily a peaceful spot to work or unwind. James Oakes, President of Omaze, said: 'Everyone at Omaze is thrilled that Emily has won this spectacular home in Cheshire's Golden Triangle, whilst also helping to raise £3.7million for Anthony Nolan.

Film starring Eddie Redmayne as trans woman ‘already dated', says co-star
The Oscar-winning actress Alicia Vikander has said The Danish Girl, a movie about one of the first transgender women to undergo sex reassignment surgery, 'feels extremely dated already'. Ms Vikander, 36, starred as the artist Gerda in the film, the wife of Eddie Redmayne's Lili, a character inspired by Danish painter and transgender woman Lili Elbe, who lived in the 19th and early 20th century. Speaking to British Vogue, the Swedish actress said: 'I'm the first one to say it already feels extremely dated, which I think is a good thing. 'At that time, it was a pivot in something that it made [the subject of transgender lives] at least discussed. I hope that in a way it was a bit of an eye-opener and opened the way for art to cover those themes.' In an interview with the Sunday Times in 2021, Mr Redmayne described his participation in The Danish Girl as 'a mistake', adding that he 'wouldn't take it on now'. Ms Vikander won an Academy Award for her role in the film, released almost 10 years ago and adapted from the book of the same name by David Ebershoff. Reflecting on her Oscar win and the subsequent media attention, she said: 'It went so fast. I didn't have any time to reflect what's happening. It was a moment that probably took me years to understand, of realising how a public persona of you is created, one I too looked at and wondered, 'Who's that?'' Ms Vikander married the German-Irish actor Michael Fassbender in 2017, and the couple have two children together. Reflecting on her work-life balance, she told British Vogue: 'It can be very long days, and a lot of the time you will leave before the kids get up and then maybe not be back before they sleep. 'So knowing that one parent is always home… With all the parent and mum guilt that you already carry with you constantly – I am battling that a lot, all the time. 'Now with the four-year-old we talk about it: 'It's time for Papa to go back and then I'll be at home.' I love being a mum. I was terrified of what it is, going into it. I wasn't really very maternal until I had my own children. 'But maybe even more after the second one arrived, I started to feel like, 'OK, I know this a little bit now.' I'm a bit kinder to myself too. ' Ms Vikander has starred in films including Ex Machina (2014), The Man From Uncle (2015) and Tomb Raider (2018). She will make her London stage debut in a version of Henrik Ibsen's The Lady From The Sea, at the Bridge Theatre in September, and said she thought this day 'would come sooner'.

‘Powerful' biopic featuring ‘moving' performance from Harry Potter star will have fans in tears
A Harry Potter star has fans sobbing at his 'brilliant' performance in a film that is now ready to watch for free. A 'moving' Oscar Award-winning biopic can now be enjoyed at the click of a button, 11 years after its initial release. The Theory of Everything takes a deep dive into the life and work of modern-day genius Stephen Hawking who, from a very young age, had unprecedented success in the fields of physics. Despite suffering from Motor Neurone Disease at the age of 21, Hawking continued to defeat the odds with the 2014 film not only focussing on his career but his turbulent relationship with his wife Jane. Actor Eddie Redmayne, who is renowned for starring in Les Miserables, Harry Potter 's Fantastic Beasts franchise and The Danish Girl, stars as Hawking himself and won the Oscar for Best Actor in 2015. He stars opposite actress Felicity Jones as Hawking's wife Jane, with the 41-year-old also remembered for her roles in The Brutalist, On The Basis of Sex, Inferno and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Eleven years after it made its global debut, The Theory of Everything can now be watched for free. Redmayne and Jones' The Theory of Everything has been dropped on BBC iPlayer today, Monday, August 18, and is entirely free to watch. The only thing needed to get access to the streamer is a registered email address and fans are good to go. The award-winning biopic scored an impressive 81% on Rotten Tomatoes when it first came out with fans singing the stars' praises. Posting on the review aggregator, someone commented: 'Redmayne's physical performance astounds, and Jones makes a wonderfully empathetic female lead.' Another agreed: 'Jones and Redmayne give this study of a scientific mind something special - heart.' A third remarked: 'It seems that The Theory of Everything doesn't have to theorize as much to prove that Eddie Redmayne is staging, perhaps, one of the best performances of the year.' While another added: 'The Theory of Everything is an interesting story about a genius, but it will be the performances by Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones that will stay with you.' The Theory of Everything is now available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
