Jake Paul doubles down on Anthony Joshua claim as boxer provides fight update

Daily Mirror20-05-2025

The 'Problem Child' has provided a major update on the potential heavyweight showdown after the two boxers agreed to a fight next year
YouTube star-turned-boxer Jake Paul has expressed confidence in arranging a fight with two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.
The social media star grabbed the headlines earlier this year after he openly challenged Joshua on his YouTube channel 'BS with Jake Paul,' stating: "I want to fight Anthony Joshua because I know I will f***ing beat Anthony Joshua's a**. He doesn't have a chin and he has no skill and he's stiff. I love you, Anthony, we're friends and all this s*** but I want to fight you. I will beat Canelo, I will beat a lot of f***ing people."

Following their exchange, the pair promptly agreed over the phone to a future fight. During an interview with Ariel Helwani, Paul provided the latest on a potential clash between the two boxing stars. "Yeah, we talked on the phone for like ten minutes and we're both down. I said 2026 and he was like, 'Alright, let's get it,'" he said.

"We're gonna make it happen so I think that's going to be a mega-fight next year and something fun to test my skills at heavyweight. But I think his chin's gone and especially if he fights another time or two in between the end of 2026. I love Anthony, he's always supported me, I've always supported him but I just do believe I can beat him in a fight."
Joshua has confirmed he won't be stepping back into the ring until December at the earliest. 'AJ', hasn't fought since his shocking fifth-round knockout loss to Daniel Dubois last September. Speaking to ESPN about his plans, Joshua stated: "December, I'll fight again. That's when I want to fight again. I want to take some time and then I'll go in December."
When quizzed about his British rival Tyson Fury, Joshua responded: "Don't worry about him, he says a lot of stuff. I just want to get my body feeling good and my mind is going to be right and then I'll fight. No problem!" As speculation mounts over a potential showdown between Paul and Joshua, boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has issued a stern warning to the American YouTuber, suggesting that the 'Problem Child' may not fully comprehend the risks of facing his star client.
Speaking to The Stomping Ground, Hearn said: "The reason [people] are in to it is because it is so dangerous. [They think] if he hits Jake Paul, his head could actually detach from his neck. That's the world we live in. If it's what you want to see, I'm sure AJ would give you what you want. But unless you're going to do it next, don't talk about it. If you're going to do it next, we'll do it. AJ is not defending a belt, he's not trying to unify, he's not trying to become undisputed. We're looking for an opponent.
"If it's Jake Paul, it's a massive payday and a straightforward job. If I was walking into the ring to fight Jake Paul, I wouldn't be nervous. I could be competitive. It is impossible [Paul beats Joshua]. Jake Paul probably could have a dozen or so free shots on AJ's chin and it wouldn't even [faze him]. Respect to Jake, he wants to make the big moments and he'd make crazy money for that fight. If you want to do it, do it, but understand the dangers of that fight."

When he was 12 years old, he took on his first challenge: building a tiny home on wheels. Inspired by other DIY renovations on YouTube, Luke set about saving up. Over several months, Luke, from Iowa, raised £1,100 ($1,500) to pay for the materials needed for the build. Luke's local community chipped in by donating materials, and he swapped services for help with building. His dad helped him draw up plans and construct the house, while his mum assisted with the interior design. The tiny home is connected to electricity, and inside, Luke has fit a working stove, mini-fridge, a sofa with a drop-down table, and a loft bed. He even built a deck at the front using reclaimed materials. In total, the tiny home took the teenager a year and a half to complete. Luke, now a paramedic, said: 'The tiny house was always meant to be a space to have friends over and to entertain people.' And that's exactly what he did one Thanksgiving when he hosted his family in the space. We bought 2 shipping containers for $5,500 each and built our 'dream' tiny home - a key method helped us save even more Luke said: 'We had everything a normal Thanksgiving dinner would have. My family of five plus our dog all fit." Luke's build was such a success that at 14 years old, his twin brother, Cole asked him to build a 36-square-foot mini camper to go along with the tiny house. The camper is less than half the size of the tiny house and portable, so it was built in a different way to withstand high speeds in transportation. Since building it, the camper has been on more than 50 trips across the country, mainly used in the summer when the weather is fine. Inside, there is an L shape banquette seating which doubles into a sleeping area and a small table. 6 Luke's tiny home has a living area and kitchen Credit: @lukethill 6 And upstairs there is a single bed for sleeping Credit: @lukethill 6 Luke's tiny home (right) next to his second build, the camper (left) Credit: @lukethill But the main attraction is outside as the camper has a huge pull-out drawer which houses all their camping cooking equipment, and then doubles into a worktop to prep food. 'It houses everything you need to cook - we even have a gas propane stove," Luke explained in another video. "It's obviously not a full kitchen but it has everything you need in this sliding drawer under the camper. But Luke admitted: 'The tiny house will always be my favourite.' 6 Luke in front of his tiny home Credit: YOUTUBE

There will be an incredible ceremony at the Horse Guard Parade and an airshow by the Red Arrows. King Charles and Queen Camilla will soon arrive and wave to the crowds from a carriage, as the monarch is still undergoing his weekly treatments for cancer. Following them will be the horse-riding trio Princess Anne, Prince Edward and Prince William. Kate Middleton and the kids - Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and naughty Prince Louis, six - are yet to arrive. This year will be Charles' third Trooping the Colour parade. The Coldstream Guards are on display for the world to see, dressed in full military regalia, alongside a huge number of supporting staff. Over 1,400 officers and soldiers, 400 musicians, 200 horses and 10 bands are taking part in the Trooping the Colour event. King Charles asked royals to wear black armbands in remembrance of those killed in the Air India plane tragedy. Those wearing the bands will be the Prince of Wales, Colonel of the Welsh Guards, the Princess Royal, Colonel Blues and Royals, and the Duke of Edinburgh, Colonel Scots Guards. A spokesperson said this is "a mark of respect for the lives lost, the families in mourning and all the communities affected by this awful tragedy". There will also be a minute's silence at the event following Thursday's devastating crash which killed at least 241 people. The parade today is almost five months before King Charles' actual birthday. Charles was born on November 14, though the reigning British monarch has two birthdays. The sovereign's birthday, which is celebrated through the Trooping the Colour, usually falls in the summer months. Notably, the King's youngest son and his family are not present. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were not invited last year either. The late Queen used to invite the extended Royal Family onto the balcony, but this was later changed so that only working royals are allowed. Trooping the Colour dates back to the 17th Century, when it was first held by King Charles II. The ceremony takes its name from each regiment showing off their battle colours, which made them easier to identify when at war. Fans can either stream the event or attend live, though Central London is expected to be extremely busy. 8 Cheerful royal fans have gone all out in Union Jack clothing for the event Credit: Goff 8 Preparations are underway for Trooping The Colour 2025 Credit: George Cracknell Wright

David Beckham knighthood latest as huge achievement is tainted with sadness

Sir David Beckham has reached many amazing achievements throughout his longstanding career in sport and showbiz – all of which are now likely to be topped by last night's announcement that he is to be knighted. The 50 year old star, who is being recognised in the Kings Birthday Honours List for his services to Sport and Charity, has finally secured his long awaited knighthood. Speaking out about the incredible recognition, Sir David said he was "humbled" in a statement shared with the . He said: "I'm so lucky to be able to do the work that I do and I'm grateful to be recognised for work that gives me so much fulfilment. It will take a little while for the news to sink in but I'm immensely proud and it's such an emotional moment for me to share with my family." Sadly for the new Sir and Lady Beckham, the star's huge achievement has been tainted as the couple are currently embroiled in a sad fallout with their eldest son Brooklyn Peltz Beckham and his wife Nicola Peltz Beckham. And it appears that feud is still ongoing as Brooklyn appears to have snubbed his dad's huge achievement on his social media pages. Despite Beckham's family heartache, the footie legend will undoubtedly see this moment in his life as one to remember – as he has wanted a knighthood for a long, long time. Stay tuned on our live blog as we give you all the updates from the reaction of Sir David's knighthood and what it now means for the megastar and his wife, formerly known as Posh and now titled Lady Victoria Beckham. Romeo Beckham gushed over his pride for his dad in a sweet Instagram post, shared shortly after the news was released last night. The 22 year old son of David and Victoria posted a photo of himself and his dad at David's 50th birthday celebration – which son Brooklyn was noticibly absent from – on his Instagram story. The image showed a smiling Romeo looking lovingly at his dad as David pulls a face at the camera. "So so proud of you," Romeo gushed as he added four white heart emojis to the post. Sir David, who was made an OBE in 2003 and has been in the running for a knighthood for more than a decade, said in a statement to the Mirror: "Growing up in East London with parents and grandparents who were so patriotic and proud to be British I never could have imagined I would receive such a truly humbling honour. To have played for and captained my country was the greatest privilege of my career and literally a boyhood dream come true. Off the pitch I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to represent Britain around the world and work with incredible organisations that are supporting communities in need and inspiring the next generation. "I'm so lucky to be able to do the work that I do and I'm grateful to be recognised for work that gives me so much fulfilment. It will take a little while for the news to sink in but I'm immensely proud and it's such an emotional moment for me to share with my family." Days after speculation of David's upcoming knighthood, the King's Birthday Honours List finally confirmed he has received the long-awaited title. The ex-England and Manchester United player, who was given an OBE in 2003, said he was "immensly proud" for the gong to services to sport and charity. Sir David joins 1,215 recognised in the Honours List, including The Who singer Roger Daltrey, Hollywood icon Gary Oldman, TV legends Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly, and teenage darts sensastion Luke Littler.
