
Indian-Origin Founder Reacts Sharply To Ex-Employee's "Got Fired" Post, Gets Slammed Online
An India-origin startup founder is being slammed online for his blunt response to a former employee's viral post about getting fired. The controversy erupted when Namya Khan, now the co-founder of design agency Supafast, shared a post on X about how she was fired from her first tech job in 2023. Without mentioning the name of the company, she recalled being told by her product manager that artificial intelligence (AI) might replace her soon, just a month before she was fired. But instead of spiralling, Ms Khan said that she used that moment as motivation to start her own business.
"Looking back, getting fired was the best thing that ever happened to me," Ms Khan wrote, adding, "Lesson: If it won't matter in five years, don't give it five minutes of panic. Zoom out. Your worst day can be your biggest turning point."
After Ms Khan's post went viral, her former boss, one of the startup's co-founders, accused her of misrepresenting the situation to gain sympathy and freelance clients. Responding to her tweet, Keswin Suresh, co-founder of DarDoc, claimed that Ms Khan's job loss had nothing to do with AI, and was in fact because of her poor performance. "The truth is simple. The work was sloppy, deadlines were missed, and basic execution was consistently off. This wasn't AI replacing a job. This was someone not doing the job," he wrote.

Further, Mr Keswin called Ms Khan's post a "sob story". "We're glad she's running her own agency. We're not here to block anyone's growth. But don't rewrite history. Don't twist facts. And don't drag the company that gave you your first shot into your personal PR strategy. You weren't replaced by AI. You were replaced by someone who could actually ship working code," he said.
Mr Keswin's post quickly caught the internet's attention, with many users calling the entrepreneur "unprofessional". Some users also called his public statement unnecessary, especially since Ms Khan never named or shamed the company.
"Sorry to say, but this is not how a founder reacts. Demeaning your ex-employee was not needed here given that she does not names any organisation here. Even if you feel it's needed, not the ideal leadership quality," wrote one user. "It's impossible to convey how badly you are damaging your own reputation here. She never named your company but you're now sharing screenshots of her emails which are written with respectful professionalism," commented another.
"If your intention was to retaliate because she was giving your company a bad name, you miscalculated. You just made your startup look way worse than she did," expressed a third user.

"While she may be clickbaiting, I still find it bad style from a founder to call out a former employee publicly like that. Be better than this," added another.

India seeks exemption from US' 10% baseline tariff
The fate of the 10% baseline tariffs that the Trump administration invoked on imports from all countries on April 2 is among the issues now at the heart of negotiations between New Delhi and Washington as they attempt to hammer out an early tranche of the trade deal, people aware of the matter have said. Delhi is not in favour of replicating, as suggested by the American negotiators, the approach in the trade deal struck between the US and the UK, where British goods are still subject to the baseline tariffs, these people added. According to a person with direct knowledge of the discussions, Indian negotiators are pushing for their American counterparts to remove the baseline 10% rate as well as commit to assurances that the additional 16%, due to be implemented on July 9, will be left off. An American negotiating team led by assistant US Trade Representative Brendan Lynch 4 landed in Delhi on June for what is the fifth time negotiators from either side have gone to the other's capital for face-to-face talks. The American delegation is expected to be in Delhi till June 10, longer than the previously expected two-day visit. Else, India will also have rights to continue proportionately similar tariffs on American goods till the time the US withdraws the entire 26% reciprocal tariff,' one of them said, citing a joint statement by the two countries' leaders issued on February 13 in Washington. While expounding 'Mission-500' to double bilateral trade to $500 billion by 2030 on February 13, the two leaders – Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump – in their joint statement mentioned the need for new 'fair-trade terms' that are 'mutually beneficial', the person said. A second person aware of the matter corroborated India's stance: 'Only a mutually beneficial deal would have a long life'. 'Both India and the US are sovereigns. One is the oldest democracy and the other is the largest democracy. While the US is the largest economy, India is the fastest growing major economy of the world. Hence, the deal must be balanced, equitable, fair and acceptable to their people,' the first person said. The second person added that India sees trade interests between both nations as being 'complementary and not competitive', hence New Delhi is open to giving greater market access to the American goods in the Indian market provided Washington reciprocates. 'The trade negotiations continue in New Delhi covering all these matters in a constructive manner as we speak and both sides are hopeful for a win-win,' he said. The mini deal secured some concessions for the UK, but the 10% baseline tariff continued. Both partners are racing to conclude an interim, or regarded as an 'early harvest', deal before July 9, which will be followed by a wider first tranche of Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) by September-October 2025. After that a comprehensive BTA will be negotiated, they said. Lammy meets PM, Jaishankar: Trade to terror, India and UK flag deeper ties
After meeting visiting UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy Saturday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that India follows a policy of 'zero tolerance against terrorism' and expects its partners to understand that Delhi will never 'countenance' the equivalence of perpetrators and victims. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who met Lammy as well, said: 'Pleased to meet UK Foreign Secretary Mr David Lammy. Appreciate his substantive contribution to the remarkable progress in our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, further strengthened by the recently concluded FTA. Value UK's support for India's fight against cross-border terrorism.' This is the first visit by a Foreign Minister from a P-5 country to India after the India-Pakistan hostilities last month. Lammy had visited Islamabad on May 16, when he had welcomed the ceasefire between India and Pakistan. Jaishankar said: 'Let me thank the Government of the United Kingdom for the strong condemnation of the barbaric terrorist attack in Pahalgam in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and for your solidarity and support to India in the fight against terrorism. We practice a policy of zero tolerance against terrorism and expect our partners to understand it, and we will never countenance perpetrators of evil being put at par with its victims.' Jaishankar said that recent conclusion of the India-UK FTA and the Double Contribution Convention is 'truly a milestone' which will not only propel two-way trade and investment but will have also have a 'positive effect on other strategic aspects of our bilateral ties, it would also contribute to the strengthening of supply and value chains'. He said that the Technology Security Initiative (TSI) will enable deeper collaboration in strategic technology sectors of AI, Semiconductors, Telecom, Quantum, HealthTech/ Bio-Tech, Critical Minerals and Advanced Materials. The two sides have also launched the Strategic Exports and Technology Cooperation Dialogue which will increase TSI's effectiveness in promoting trade in critical and emerging technologies, including the resolution of relevant licensing or regulatory issues. He also said that the UK-India infrastructure financial bridge can 'unlock quality long term capital flows from the United Kingdom to India', and that 'would surely contribute to our infrastructure development'. 'There is very good collaboration in the education sector with many more universities, I believe, planning to establish their campuses in India, and on the people-to-people ties front, we had the privilege — I myself had the honour — to open two new consulates in Manchester and Belfast.' According to the British High Commission, bolstering economic and migration ties and delivering further growth opportunities for British businesses are top on Lammy's agenda. 'The visit follows the historic Free Trade Agreement agreed between the two countries and will deliver on this government's commitment to boost jobs and prosperity. The new deal with India is expected to increase bilateral trade by over £25 billion every year, UK GDP by £4.8 billion, and wages by £2.2 billion each year in the long run, putting money back in the pockets of working people,' it said. Lammy said: 'India was one of my first visits as Foreign Secretary, and since then has been a key partner in the delivery of our Plan for Change. Our relationship has gone from strength to strength — securing our future technologies, adding over £25bn in trade every year between our countries and deepening the strong links between our cultures and people. At the 13th UK-India Economic and Financial Dialogue (EFD) in April, UK's Chancellor Rachel Reeves had welcomed £400m of trade and investment wins set to boost the British and the Indian economy and deliver economic growth and security for the working people. Lammy had travelled to India on his first official visit as Foreign Secretary in July last year, when he announced the TSI. 'AI models can hallucinate or misfire'

Mohit Saxena, Co-Founder & CTO, InMobi & Glance told TNIE that there's the critical need for human oversight and that AI models can hallucinate or misfire, and in today's sensitive digital climate, ensuring responsible output is essential. 'We're investing in rigorous moderation infrastructure and developing new governance frameworks to mitigate these risks,' he said. He added that deep AI expertise is scarce. 'While surface-level applications like RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) are becoming common, true innovation requires depth in data science, ML infrastructure, and systems thinking—talent that's still hard to find.' But our global presence in Bengaluru, San Francisco, and the UK gives us broader access to specialised talent pools, the co-founder said. Talking about other key challenges, he said that AI infrastructure is expensive. Running advanced models at scale demands significant compute and energy. In the visual content space, he said the company is leveraging Contrastive Language-Image Pre-training (CLIP) to bridge the gap between AI-generated creativity and real-world commerce through its Glance AI product. 'By using CLIP, we're able to understand and interpret AI-generated fashion looks—essentially decoding the visual style and identifying apparel elements within the image. These elements are then matched to real products from our extensive catalogue of brand and retail partners,' he explained. Even before the LLM (large language model) wave, the company has been leveraging AI for content generation at Glance. 'We're onboarding fresh engineering talent through structured bootcamps where AI adoption starts from day one—including access to AI assistants and hands-on experience with applied ML tools. Simultaneously, we're deepening our bench strength by hiring top-tier data scientists—we've onboarded over 50 employees in the past year alone, across domains like LLMs, DNNs (Deep Neural Networks), and imaging. We're also shifting our hiring lens—prioritising engineers with a strong aptitude in data science and statistical thinking.
