Eddie Howe admits Alexander Isak situation is ‘far from ideal'
Isak did not travel to Asia for Newcastle's pre-season tour due to what the club called a 'minor thigh injury', only for his unhappiness to emerge along with the fact he is training at former club Real Sociedad.

'I think from my situation, I am very much removed from everything that is happening back home,' Magpies boss Howe said, as reported by The Athletic.
'I was made aware there was a bid yesterday. That bid was turned down before I heard about it.
'There are people back in England dealing with the situation. I really don't know what is going to happen next, but from our perspective, we still support Alex in every way, and my wish is still that we see him in a Newcastle shirt again.'
Newcastle head back from Asia after Sunday's friendly against Tottenham in Seoul, where Howe revealed he learned Isak was training in Spain with his former club through the media.
'I know where he is through the media, so I think from that perspective it's difficult for me to go into any detail,' the said.
'The situation is far from ideal. It is quite complex. I think that is all I have got to say.'

They are the people who must always come first in all of this. We must never forget that, and we cannot imagine their pain in this moment. "It is still a bit surreal, to be honest, but we are coping in the best way possible as a team, and we are all trying to do the best job we can in order to get through this really difficult time. "With everything that happened, it has been strange having to now try to carry on with work, with football. We will never forget Diogo, of course, but we just have to try to honour his memory. That's what we try to do each and every day. "I always come back to the fact that we have to look after Diogo's family, his parents, and that's the main thing. You think about so many different things, and it's difficult to process. You can't imagine the pain, the feeling that they have. That's why we try to be there as much as we can, and for each other as well. "That's also why it is very important that we honour and carry on his legacy, not only for now and the next couple of months, but for as long as we can, because that is what he deserves."

Newcastle United have reportedly informed RB Leipzig of a deadline in terms of their interest in a possible move for striker Benjamin Sesko, who is also a target for Manchester United Newcastle United have provided a 48-hour deadline regarding their interest in Benjamin Sesko. Eddie Howe's side have identified the RB Leipzig striker as a target as the club look to add reinforcements in attack. The Magpies, who are preparing for a Champions League campaign, currently have limited options up front. First-choice striker Alexander Isak has been the subject of a rejected bid worth up to £120million from Liverpool, while the expiry of Callum Wilson 's contract leaves prospect William Osula as the club's only other recognised centre-forward. Despite the club's public interest in Mbeumo, Man United had several offers turned down before the striker finally arrived at Old Trafford in a deal worth up to £71m. Newcastle wish to avoid replicating a similar scenario with Sesko. The Isak situation provides Newcastle with extra motivation to accelerate negotiations for Sesko and any other transfer targets. United made their first approach for the Slovenian star last week, through intermediaries, who opened up dialogue over a potential deal. Those talks have progressed and will be stepped up this week, once United have returned home from their three-game tour of the US. Although United are looking to offload several players before the summer transfer window closes, they have scope to sign a striker without selling. Marcus Rashford's season-long loan move to Barcelona cleared £12m off their annual wage bill, with the La Liga club covering his entire salary. United also raised £20.7m from sell-on clauses including Anthony Elanga's switch to Newcastle, moves for Alvaro Fernandez and Maxi Oyedele, and the £5m paid by Chelsea to pull out of their deal to sign Jadon Sancho. In addition, United's failure to qualify for Europe this season – for only the second time in 35 years - means they are not bound by UEFA'S limit of spending no more than 70 per cent of annual income on transfers and wages. The structure of the deals for Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, who cost a combined £133.5m, with payments spread over instalments, has given United greater freedom to spend.
