Jindal Global Law School (JGLS) of OP Jindal Global University (JGU) announced that applications for its flagship five-year Law programmes will close on April 30, 2025. Students must take the LNAT-UK test before April 30, 2025.
The law school was recently in the news for being ranked by Quacquarelli Symonds UK (QS) as India's No 1 Law School in the QS World Universities Rankings By Subject Law 2025.
For the sixth consecutive year, Jindal Global Law School (JGLS) has been ranked as the No 1 Law School in India and amongst the top 100 worldwide (78th ranked globally in 2025).
OP Jindal Global University, recognised as an Institution of Eminence (IOE) by the Government of India, recently celebrated 15 years of its establishment and built India's First Constitution Museum on its campus. JGLS is now the world's only law school with a Constitution Museum on its campus.
225 seats to be admitted
The Founding Vice Chancellor Professor (Dr) C. Raj Kumar, who's also the Founding Dean of JGLS, highlighted the success of the law school admissions this year and said: 'Our best decision was to use the LNAT Test for JGLS admissions. LNAT Test, being the world's leading law school admissions test administered by the LNAT Consortium based at the University of Oxford, is a standardised test of reading comprehension and logical thinking. It has no questions on law, general knowledge, mathematics, or anything based on rote learning. Students can take the LNAT anytime, anywhere in the world at over 500 centres during the test window. I'm glad to see a perfect and flawless administration of this Test worldwide and providing JGLS aspirants a fair and smooth opportunity to compete.'
Professor Anand Prakash Mishra, Vice Dean, JGLS and Director of Law Admissions of the University, further added, 'We admitted 75 per cent of seats in the 5-year LLB Hons programmes (BCom LLB, BA LLB & BBA LLB) in the Early Admission Process itself, which ended on January 31. The deadline of April 30 applies to the remaining 25 per cent of seats in each programme. JGLS has an approved intake of 300 seats (5 sections of 60 seats each) in all three 5-year law programs. We will admit 75 seats in each of the three programs or 225 seats in total, based on the LNAT Test taken on or before April 30. Today, the brightest students in the country are aspiring to study law, and most aspire to study at JGLS as well. This is the last opportunity for students willing to join our law school in the academic year 2025-26 starting August 1, 2025.'
Students must take the LNAT-UK test before April 30, 2025, it is free.
It is the National Admission Test for Law or LNAT (also called LNAT-UK as accepted by Oxford, Cambridge, LSE & other leading UK law schools). The Test Owner is LNAT Consortium Ltd., based at Oxford University.
JGLS is the only member law school from India, and of a duration of 95 minutes with 42 questions to be answered.
Test pattern: 12 passages with 3-4 multiple-choice questions each. Full-length LNAT Question papers can be downloaded from the LNAT-UK website. The Format is Computer-Based Test or CBT with 500 Test Centres worldwide, including 40-plus test centres in India.
JGLS doesn't require essay writing. Admission cutoffs may vary across admissions cycles. A score of 15 on 42 was the cutoff in early admissions. It may rise in the future.
LNAT-UK scores will be considered for over 300 merit-cum-means scholarships instituted by the law school. Scholarships are awarded in the range of 10 per cent, 25 per cent, 50 per cent, and 75 per cent of Tuition Fees as per merit and annual parental income criteria, which must not exceed Rs 50 lakh in the latest ITR of both parents.
Students must note that the LNAT Test is free for admitted students as the test fee of 120 GBP is adjusted in the first-year tuition fee.

ED freezes ₹110 crore linked to illegal betting platform Parimatch

MUMBAI: The Mumbai unit of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has frozen ₹110 crore lying in mule bank accounts in connection with a money-laundering probe into Cyprus-based illegal betting platform Parimatch. The action followed coordinated searches at 17 locations across the country on Tuesday, including Mumbai, Surat, Delhi, Noida, Kanpur, Madurai and Hyderabad. ED freezes ₹ 110 crore linked to illegal betting platform Parimatch The platform, owned by a Ukrainian national abroad, allegedly amassed nearly ₹3,000 crore from Indian users in 2023-24 alone, luring them with promises of high returns before defrauding them, ED officials said on Thursday. According to investigators, the frozen funds—proceeds of crime—were parked in multiple mule accounts used to layer and divert money to various recipients. Searches also led to the seizure of incriminating documents, digital devices and 1,200 credit cards linked to mule accounts. Complex laundering network The ED's probe, based on a complaint by the cyber police station in Mumbai, has uncovered a multi-layered laundering operation. In south India, user deposits were allegedly funnelled into mule accounts and withdrawn in cash in parts of Tamil Nadu, before being handed to hawala operators. These operators then recharged virtual wallets of a UK-based firm, which were used to buy USDT cryptocurrency in mule accounts run by Parimatch agents. In western India, Parimatch allegedly used Domestic Money Transfer agents to collect betting funds in mule accounts and channel them back through credit card transactions. Investigators have also flagged payment companies whose Payment Aggregator licence applications were rejected by the Reserve Bank of India. These firms allegedly provided backend services to Parimatch disguised as Technology Service Providers (TSPs), offering Application Programming Interface (API) access to integrate mule accounts—often opened in the names of e-commerce and payment service firms—into the platform. The funds were then 'masked' as e-commerce refunds, vendor payments and other routine expenses to obscure their origin and movement, officials said. Aggressive promotion in India To attract customers, Parimatch invested heavily in marketing, sponsoring sports tournaments and tying up with celebrities. Indian-registered entities—'Parimatch Sports' and 'Parimatch News'—were allegedly used for surrogate advertising, funded through foreign remittances. A city - based businessman, who is the complainant in the Mumbai police's case, alleged that he had lost around ₹12.22 crore at the accused illegal platform and its allied applications due to their 'non adherence to fairplay'. The businessman claimed he got attracted to the accused gaming platform's claims related to high returns, sometime in 2021, after noticing its advertisements and celebrity endorsements for it on a social media platform. 'All of us who have lost any money on the accused platform should be compensated,' the complainant told HT.

ED raids 17 locations, seizes Rs 110 crore in Rs 3,000 crore money laundering case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids across 17 locations throughout the country in connection with a money laundering probe. The raids were conducted in Mumbai, Delhi, Noida, Jaipur, Surat, Madurai, Kanpur and Hyderabad as part of an ongoing probe in the case of Cyprus-based illegal online betting platform Parimatch. During the raid, bank accounts with funds totalling to nearly Rs 110 crore were seized by the officials and frozen. Further, various incriminating documents and digital devices have been found and seized during the raids. advertisementThe ED initiated the investigation on the basis of an FIR registered by the Cyber PS, Mumbai against for duping users through online betting platform Parimatch. As per the investigation, the investors were duped of Rs 3,000 crore in a year. During the raids, it was revealed that Parimatch routed users' funds through mule accounts using different strategies across the country. In one case, funds deposited by users into mule accounts were withdrawn in cash in a specific locality in Tamil Nadu. This cash was handed over to hawala operators, who used it to recharge virtual wallets of a UK-based company. These wallets were then used to buy USDT cryptocurrency in the name of mule crypto accounts, which were actually operated by Parimatch agents. In Western India, Parimatch engaged the services of domestic money transfer (DMT) collected in mule accounts and controlled by these DMT agents were sent to PariMatch agents through payments made by mule Credit Cards. A total of more than 1,200 such credit cards were found and seized from a single premise. The ED investigation also uncovered that payment companies whose applications for Payment Aggregator licences were rejected by the RBI, offered their services to Parimatch in the garb of technology service providers (TSPs) and offered their API (Application Programming Interface) to facilitate user fund collections. These TSPs offered the APIs to Parimatch agents who onboarded mule accounts opened in the name of e-commerce companies and payment solution provider companies for collection of funds from users. The money so collected through UPI transfers was layered and transferred out in the garb of e-commerce refunds, chargebacks, vendor payments, etc. effectively concealing the actual flow and purpose of funds. Parimatch gained visibility through aggressive marketing, including sponsorship of sports tournaments and partnerships with well-known celebrities. They also set up Indian entities to run surrogate advertisements under the names 'Parimatch Sports' and 'Parimatch News.' Payments to these agencies were made via foreign inward remittances. Further investigation is under progress.- EndsMust Watch

India requests UK to fast-track process to operationalise trade pact: Commerce Secretary

Synopsis India has urged the UK to expedite the approval of the free trade agreement, aiming for its swift implementation. Signed on July 24, the agreement awaits UK Parliament's approval. Once operational, it will grant zero-duty access to Indian exports, offsetting potential disadvantages faced in the US market due to tariff differences. iStock Representative image. New Delhi: India has requested the UK to fast-track the approval process of the free trade agreement so that it can be implemented as early as possible, Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal said on Thursday. The India-UK comprehensive economic and trade agreement (CETA) was signed on July 24. It needs approval from UK Parliament for implementation. He said if in the next six months, the India-UK trade agreement gets operationalised, it will immediately provide zero duty access to Indian exports in Britain, so any disadvantage from tariff differential that the Indian exports may face in the US would get covered in the UK. "We have also requested the Uk to fast-track so that it comes into force as early as possible," Barthwal told reporters here. On July 24, India and the UK signed a landmark free trade agreement, which, starting next year, will see 99 per cent of Indian exports enter the UK duty-free, while reducing tariffs on British products such as cars and whisky in the Indian market. While India has opened its market to various consumer goods, including chocolates, biscuits, and cosmetics, it will gain greater access to export products such as textiles, footwear, gems and jewellery, sports goods, and toys. Also, Indian companies, such as TCS and Infosys, operating in the UK won't have to make social security contributions for up to three years for employees who move from India.
