Trainers Richard, Will Freedman saddle I Am Brave at Rosehill

I Am Brave, the brilliant filly who made headlines at the Scone Cup carnival, puts her unbeaten record on the line in the Midway Handicap (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday.
Trainers Richard and Will Freedman sent I Am Brave to the races for the first time at Scone two weeks and the three-year-old filly dominated her rivals to win a 1000m maiden.
She was heavily backed into $1.75 favouritism and scored with authority, recording a slick 57.07sec despite the Soft 7 track rating.
The Freedmans could have chosen an easier race than a Midway for I Am Brave's second start but it is an indication of how highly they race the filly that are prepared to chance their arm at Rosehill.

'We thought she was very good at Scone,'' Richard Freedman said.
'More importantly she has come through that race really well so we are keen to run her on Saturday.
'But it has taken us a while to get her to the track, and there have been reasons for that, so we don't want to push her too far in her first race preparation.
'So, this will probably be her last run before we give her a break. She's a nice filly and we will be even better again in the new season.''
I Am Brave, a daughter of Yarraman Park's super sire I Am Invincible, is at $4.60 in early TAB Fixed Odds betting and is challenging Harry's Bar ($4.40) for favouritism.
The Freedman stable also prepared Walking Painting to win at the Scone carnival and the gelding will line up at Rosehill in the Captivant At Kia Ora Handicap (1800m).
• Gibbons' injury silver lining: 'It was a break I didn't know I wanted but really needed'
Unlike stablemate I Am Brave, former French galloper Walking Painting was unwanted in betting at $21 but broke through for his first Australian win with an all-the-way effort in a Scone Midway.
'Walking Painting's win rated quite highly for a Midway,'' Freedman said.
'I think the key to him is it has taken a while to work out his quirks but we feel now that he prefers soft tracks.
'We had some issues with his hind fetlocks and we had to re-shoe him different ways to work out what was best for him.''
Freedman is also optimistic Zoubaby ($26) can run an improved race back on a firmer Eagle Farm track for Saturday's Listed $160,000 Helen Coughlan Stakes (1200m).
• 'Hope the right decision was made': Rosehill trainers react to sale vote
Meanwhile, Freedman's improving filly Let's Fly, who romped home by nearly six lengths at Randwick last week, will be given her chance in the Group 1 $700,000 Queensland Oaks (2200m) at Eagle Farm on June 7.
'We paid the late nomination for her during the week and the plan is for her to go to the Oaks,'' Freedman said.
'She's come through her Randwick win in really good order and we feel she deserves her opportunity.''

Champion pacer Leap To Fame to switch to standing-start racing at Albion Park on Saturday night

Champion pacer Leap To Fame will take a surprise step right outside his comfort zone at Albion Park on Saturday night. For just the second time in more than four years and 65 race starts, Leap To Fame will switch from mobile start to standing-start racing. His only other standing-start race was on June 8 last year when Leap To Fame came off a 20m handicap to emphatically win the Flashing Red Discretionary at Albion Park over 2647m. The six-year-old's task will be even harder this week off the maximum 30m handicap and the race being over the shorter 2138m trip. Despite Leap To Fame winning first-up from a break at Albion Park last Saturday night, his trainer-driver Grant Dixon was moved to back him up quickly. • PUNT LIKE A PRO: Become a Racenet iQ member and get expert tips – with fully transparent return on investment statistics – from Racenet's team of professional punters at our Pro Tips section. SUBSCRIBE NOW! 'It was a bit hard to assess things on such a wet track, but I felt he should have won a bit easier,' he said. 'Trista I felt he could do with another two races before the Inter Dominion starts and that meant we really had to back him up this week. 'There was also the option of a mobile sprint race, but there are a few reasons we opted for the stand. 'He will get more conditioning from a race like this stand, especially over 2138m. Big surprise in the fields for this Saturday night- Jun 7 Leap To Fame will start in Race 6- a standing start handicap over 2138m. From 30m ðŸ'€ ðŸ'€ — The Creek (@TheCreekAlbion) June 2, 2025 'And we are thinking about taking him to the NZ Cup later in the year, which is a standing start and this could be one of the last suitable opportunities we get to show him the (standing start) tapes and see how he handles it. 'The Flashing Red and Redcliffe Cups are coming, but he'll get 30m in both of those. The Flashing Red will be a lot stronger than this week's race and Redcliffe isn't really a suitable race for him.' In Awe. LEAP TO FAME with one of his best ever tonight in The Race by @betcha_nz. He eyeballed his most recent foe, Don Hugo then put him, and the rest, to the sword to once again prove who's boss in the pacing world ðŸ'° — RaceQ (@RaceQLD) April 4, 2025 Dixon said racing again this week meant Leap To Fame could return to mobile start racing for his final lead-up race on June 21. 'Then he'll have had the three weeks and get a two-week gap before the first round of (Inter Dominion) heats (July 5),' Dixon said. Dixon felt Leap To Fame, who won narrowly but impressively first-up at Albion Park last Saturday night, needed more racing before the Inter Dominion starts on July 5. Leap To Fame makes it career win 51 and 34 at The Creek to take out The Somerset Farms Avonnova Open defeating Wisper A Secret — The Creek (@TheCreekAlbion) May 31, 2025 'I thought he should've won a bit easier and that he'd need two more runs, not just one, before the heats. 'That really meant we had to back-up this week and it made more sense on a few levels to go to this (standing start) race rather than a 1660m mobile. This will be a better conditioning run. 'It means he can run this week, have two weeks to his third run back and then another two weeks before the first round of heats.' THE CHAMP GOES BACK-TO-BACK! Another successful raid by the Queenslanders Grant Dixon and Leap To Fame, who secure a second-straight victory in the Decron Cranbourne Gold Cup! — The Trots (@TheTrotsComAu) February 8, 2025 Less than an hour after Leap To Fame steps out, his major Brisbane Inter Dominion rival Don Hugo will return from a let-up in the seventh race at Menangle on Saturday night. Don Hugo upset Leap To Fame in the Miracle Mile on March 8, but the latter turned the tables with a powerhouse win when they last met in the $1 million Race by betcha at Cambridge on April 4. They have clashed three times and Leap To Fame leads 2-1. @ClubMenangle — SKY Racing (@SkyRacingAU) March 8, 2025

Fans doing Run It Straight after Manly game, club condemn behaviour

Don't miss out on the headlines from NRL. Followed categories will be added to My News. The Manly Sea Eagles have condemned fan behaviour that was posted to social media on Monday. The footage, posted to the creaturesofmanly Instagram account, shows fans on the hill at 4 Pines park partaking in the controversial 'Run It Straight' challenge. FOX LEAGUE, available on Kayo Sports, is the only place to watch every game of every round in the 2025 NRL Telstra Premiership, LIVE with no ad-breaks during play. New to Kayo? Get your first month for just $1. Limited-time offer. The activity sees opponents charging at each other with the objective to either successfully tackle the opponent or run them over in a hard-hitting collision. On Saturday night after the Sea Eagles had defeated the Brisbane Broncos, fans decided to turn the steep hill into their arena. Fans slowly trotted down the hill as others waited at the bottom to tackle them with countless people watching on and cheering. One man slammed down his drink before taking off down the hill where he was flattened by another individual. Another was hit just as hard while a third carried so much speed he bowled into the crowd at the bottom who all had their phones recording the chaos. The Sea Eagles have vowed to step up security with club CEO Tony Mestrov thankfully nobody was seriously injured. 'It's crazy that people will do this type of thing when they know how dangerous and potentially life-threatening it is,' Mestrov said to The Sydney Morning Herald. 'We will ensure our security is more vigilant in patrolling this outside zone after full-time, at all future home games. 'Any spectators who breach our rules by engaging in this type of behaviour will be banned. Full stop. As a club, we will continue to make the match day experience at 4 Pines Park one that is safe and enjoyable for all.' The footage of Manly fans doing the controversial activity comes after teenager Ryan Satterthwaite died last week while playing the game with friends in Palmerston North, New Zealand. The 19-year-old was taken to hospital by friends but passed away a day later. Leading sports neuroscientist Dr Alan Pearce told that it was sadly 'only a matter of time' until the viral sport took a life and says if it continues this won't be the last time it does. 'This was a matter of time really as sad as that is to say,' Dr Pearce told 'The concern is that this can happen at any level. Even in the sanctioned 'run it' events someone will probably die in that at some point as well. 'It can't be done safely and when there's kids and teens that see it they like to copy what they see online, and this is something that absolutely not should be copied. 'It is the biggest please do not try this at home disclaimer if I've ever seen one'. 'RUNIT' has become an online viral sensation over the past few months, and has attracted tens of millions of views on various social media platforms. Videos of the heavy collisions started doing the rounds on social media in January, with 'Run it Straight Official' and 'RUNIT Championship League' turning the trend into a business. As the sport took off spoke to Dr Pearce who was baffled at why people would be willing to take the risks. 'I just cannot understand how they could take the most violent aspect of sport (contact) and just turn it into a spectacle where the objective is just to try and knock out or hurt your opponent,' Dr Pearce told earlier this year. 'In a lot of these other sports (such as NRL, AFL and rugby union) you're trying to avoid direct contact whereas this is purely running at each other, it's insanity.'
