‘Dexter: Resurrection' stars James Remar and Jack Alcott tease the ‘scariest possible thing' that could happen
The story of Dexter the serial killer continues in 'Dexter: Resurrection,' and this time, it's a multi-generational saga.
'Dexter: Resurrection,' which is the fourth show in the 'Dexter' franchise, premiered on Friday, July 11 on Paramount+ and Sunday, July 13 at 8 p.m. on Showtime.

The story centers on Dexter the serial killer (Michael C. Hall) as he follows his estranged son, Harrison (Jack Alcott), to New York City – all the while, he's trailed by the ghost of his late father, Harry (James Remar), as his conscience.

'I definitely picked as many brains as I could. It really was a master class each and every day, each and every person. There were plenty of days that I didn't even work. I wasn't called [to set], but I came in to watch specific actors and scenes,' Alcott 26, told The Post.
In addition to Hall and Remar, the cast includes heavyweights such as Peter Dinklage and Uma Thurman.
'Like, I want to see the big dogs work,' Alcott added. 'Everybody was incredibly kind and welcoming to me, the young guy that's on the show. I'm incredibly thankful for that.'

The original 'Dexter' aired on Showtime for eight seasons from 2006 to 2013, following Dexter (Hall) a serial killer whose cop father, Harry (Remar), taught him to channel his urges into targeting fellow killers.
By day, Dexter worked for the Miami police, with colleagues such as Angel Batista (David Zayas). By night, he went after killers who slipped through the cracks of the justice system, and gave them his own brand of bloody vigilante justice.
The show had the spinoff 'Dexter: New Blood' in 2021, which introduced Dexter to his troubled estranged son, Harrison (Alcott).

Harrison sees Dexter as a monster, so Alcott wonders, 'Oh my God, what if I'm a monster too? That is the scariest possible thing.'
The third spinoff, 2024's 'Dexter: Original Sin,' followed Dexter's origins as a young man, starring Patrick Gibson in the title role and Christian Slater as his father, Harry.
'I've known Christian [Slater] for many, many years. Actually, we were in a movie together. I think it might have been his first film, called 'Tales from the Darkside.' I believe he was all of 18 years old. And I love him. He's a wonderful actor, and he's a good man,' Remar, 71, told The Post.

'My feelings about another actor playing the part, I think would be like Richard Burton watching Peter O'Toole play Hamlet.'

He explained, 'Because the role is so iconic, because it's something that other guys can try their hand at. It makes me feel very proud to be the guy that originated a role that other great actors now are taking on. I'm very honored and flattered.'
He quipped, 'I'm glad they didn't get some no-name bum! They got Christian Slater, who's top shelf.'

Big Apple, meet Golden State: The New York Post is launching a California newspaper
The Murdoch family's pugnacious U.S. daily tabloid is headed to California. The New York Post Media Group said Monday that it is launching a West Coast newspaper in the style of its namesake East Coast periodical. The California Post will be a daily newspaper in the mold of the New York Post, with an early cover mock-up leaning in on its usual pun-heavy headlines and culture war interests: Sydney Sweeney with the headline 'WE DREAM OF JEAN-Y.' The expansion of the Murdoch family's business, which also includes Fox News parent Fox Corp., is among the biggest moves since Lachlan Murdoch took control of the media empire built by his father, Rupert Murdoch, 94, in 2023. News Corp., which publishes the Post, also faces a sizable lawsuit from President Donald Trump against one of its other papers, The Wall Street Journal, related to an article about Trump's relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. The New York Post, which has been publishing since 1801, has remained a conservative voice in an otherwise left-leaning region, enduring the ups and downs of modern media by sticking to its strengths: splashy headlines and aggressive reporting on local crime, politics and sports, along with an avowed right-of-center perspective. California — Los Angeles in particular — has become a flashpoint in American culture and politics. Sizable protests against immigration raids and quippy comments from Gov. Gavin Newsom have made the state a target of Trump's ire. News Corp. CEO Robert Thomson nodded at the Post and its slant in a news release for the California paper. 'Los Angeles and California surely need a daily dose of The Post as an antidote to the jaundiced, jaded journalism that has sadly proliferated,' Thomson said. Los Angeles is home to a wide variety of news outlets, including the Los Angeles Times and many entertainment-focused publications, such as Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, as well as newer entrants, most notably TMZ, which is owned by Fox Corp. The California Post will be based in Los Angeles and led by Nick Papps, who was most recently weekend editor at The Herald Sun, a major Australian newspaper and subsidiary of News Corp. He also was a West Coast correspondent for The Herald Sun. Having its headquarters outside the state has not prevented the New York Post from covering California news at length, but Post Editor-in-Chief Keith Poole said the publications will make the state a focus. California 'is the epicenter of entertainment, the AI revolution and advanced manufacturing—not to mention a sports powerhouse,' Poole said in the news release, adding that he thinks the state is lacking in 'common-sense, issue based journalism.'

New York Post lands in Cali—These are the summer essentials we're packing
New York Post may be compensated and/or receive an affiliate commission if you click or buy through our links. Featured pricing is subject to change. Summer has always been a season of reinvention. Hair gets lighter, cocktails get colder, and suddenly, we all pretend we live in linen. But this year, the heat's not just coming from the pavement — it's from the press. The New York Post just announced it's heading west with The California Post, and honestly? The timing couldn't be better. LA is getting its own dose of East Coast attitude, and if that doesn't pair perfectly with poolside sarcasm and SPF 50, I don't know what does. It's the ultimate bi-coastal crossover event: New York's hustle colliding with LA's hair-flipping nonchalance. Think of it as stilettos clacking through LAX: Aggressively punctual, but open to a juice cleanse. For anyone who's ever packed a carry-on with both black jeans and a crochet bikini, this moment is a vibe. Because deep down, we all want to be the kind of person who reads the news and knows which straw hat won't collapse in your beach tote. Advertisement The New York Post is officially expanding to the California Post, in early 2026, 'with a robust news operation that will bring our signature style, wit and attitude to the West Coast and further cement our position as a national news organization,' per Keith Poole, editor-in-chief. New York Post Honestly, it makes sense. LA has always been where style goes to get a tan, and The Post? Well, it spills the tea like no kettle ever could. So while media insiders are talking strategy, I'm over here wondering what this new coastal alliance means for my suitcase, my skincare, and yes, my shoes. Obviously, as a commerce reporter. Because if New York's bringing its headlines to the land of headlines, I'm showing up with looks that say 'ready for paparazzi' even if it's just your friend with an iPhone. Ahead, find my go-to summer essentials: the good, the great and the fashionable. As someone who peruses Amazon for my 9-to-5, this is the ultimate guide to summertime travel essentials. For over 200 years, the New York Post has been America's go-to source for bold news, engaging stories, in-depth reporting, and now, insightful shopping guidance. We're not just thorough reporters – we sift through mountains of information, test and compare products, and consult experts on any topics we aren't already schooled specialists in to deliver useful, realistic product recommendations based on our extensive and hands-on analysis. Here at The Post, we're known for being brutally honest – we clearly label partnership content, and whether we receive anything from affiliate links, so you always know where we stand. We routinely update content to reflect current research and expert advice, provide context (and wit) and ensure our links work. Please note that deals can expire, and all prices are subject to change.
