Harry Kane scored his first goal against his former side as Bayern Munich romped past Tottenham 4-0 at home in a pre-season friendly on Thursday.
Kane, who is boyhood club Tottenham's all-time top goalscorer with 280 strikes in 435 matches, put Bayern in the lead after 12 minutes with a composed penalty box finish.
The England captain then had a chance to double Bayern's lead two minutes later when Joao Palhinha, who joined Spurs from Bayern on a season-long loan on Sunday, gave away a penalty.
Kane however slipped, blasting his shot well over the bar. It was the first time Kane failed to convert a spot kick since his miss in the 2022 World Cup quarter-final defeat to France.

Chelsea's Broja joins Burnley on five-year deal

Armando Broja has left boyhood club Chelsea to join promoted Burnley on a five-year contract, it was announced Friday. No fee was disclosed but British media reports said Burnley would be paying Premier League rivals Chelsea an initial £10 million ($13.4 million), with a potential further £5 million ($6.7 million) in add-ons. Broja moved to Chelsea from Tottenham aged just eight in 2009 before moving through the Blues' academy all the way up to the first-team, where he made 38 appearances and scored nine goals. But Broja -- an English-born striker who represents Albania, his parents' country -- has had several loan spells away from Stamford Bridge, most recently at Everton last season. The Toffees, however, decided against making the transfer permanent and with Chelsea spending big money to recruit forwards Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, Broja has decided to leave Stamford Bridge. The 23-year-old, who has also played for Southampton and Fulham in the Premier League, said in a statement: "I am really excited to be here as a Burnley player. It's a really positive time to be joining this club ahead of the start of the new Premier League season. I can't wait to get going. "I'm feeling good, I'm ready and I'm excited about the challenge of playing for this club. I can tell you all that I will be giving my all every time I pull on the famous claret shirt." Burnley have also signed Bashir Humphreys and Lesley Ugochukwu in the off-season as they look to bolster their squad on their return to English football's top-flight.

Kaizer Chiefs news: Motaung gives update on transfer market, signings

Kaizer Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jnr has hinted that the club could still get more players this transfer period. Amakhosi have so far signed Ethan Chislett, Nkanyiso Shinga, Flavio Silva, Thabiso Monyane, Paseka Mako and Siphesihle Ndlovu. Motaung Jr feels the club has reinforced key areas with these signings but could bring in new players in the coming weeks. The former striker said it was important for the team to have depth given that they are participating in the CAF Confederations Cup this season. 'It is crucial for us to start strongly, as the games will come thick and fast this season due to the AFCON break, in December and next year being a World Cup year,' Motaung Jnr told the club's website. 'Additionally, we'll be participating in the CAF Confederation Cup, meaning our schedule will be tight and busy. 'We believe we have reinforced key areas within the squad, but we know that recruitment is an ongoing process. We are very happy to be back in one of CAF's prestigious competitions. 'We aim to build on our successful run in 2021 that saw us go all the way to the finals of the CAF Champions League 2021 against Al Ahly in Morocco,' he added. The Kaizer Chiefs boss said that the team is not ready for the new season having played high-profile matches during pre-season. 'When we went to the Netherlands for our preseason, our primary focus was to work on getting the team fully ready for this season. 'We have also played against PSL opposition behind closed doors as we needed to ensure the requisite readiness for the guys going into this first weekend of the new league campaign, ' Motaung Jnr said. Kaizer Chiefs open their 2025/26 season against Stellenbosch at the Athlone stadium on Sunday. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211. Lens sign France international Thauvin from Udinese

French World Cup winner Florian Thauvin returned to Ligue 1 on Friday when Lens confirmed the signing of the 32-year-old attacking midfielder. "We welcome Florian with immense pleasure and a certain pride, that of seeing a world champion join us," Jean-Louis Leca, the Lens sporting director was quoted as saying on the Lens website, next to a photograph of Thauvin signing a contract. "Seeing a player of this quality and with this French international status join our project is very positive." French media reported that Lens paid Udinese 6 million euros ($7 million) for Thauvin, who signed a contract until 2028. He was welcomed like a rock star by several hundred Lens fans on Tuesday evening at Lille-Lesquin airport. Thauvin is the third 2018 World Cup winner to return to Ligue 1 this season, after Paul Pogba, who has joined Monaco, and Olivier Giroud, who has signed for Lille. Lens finished eighth in Ligue 1 last season. Thauvin has 10 France caps and made three appearances for France in the 2021 Olympics. He started his career at Grenoble, made his Ligue 1 debut with Bastia and played for nearly a decade at Marseille, broken by a two-year period at Newcastle where he would spend much of that time on loan at the Velodrome before making his return permanent.
