Genius £1 trick will absorb heat & keep your bedroom cool during hot weather – and you don't need to splash out on a fan

A GENIUS £1 trick will keep your bedroom cool this summer meaning you won't need to splash out on a fan.
With temperatures soaring in the UK as Brits face the hottest day of the year so far, many of us wonder how to best battle the heat.
1
Experts have revealed simple and practical tips to stay comfortable in your home this summer, even on a strict budget.
Corey Sims at CSDB has provided a simple hack to stay cool around the house.
She advises to firstly buy a spray bottle at a bargain or DIY store for around £1.
With this you can then spray your curtains, dampening them to cool the room.
As air blows across the hot drapes, evaporating water absorbs heat and lowers the room temperature.
The hot weather also ensures the curtains dry quickly without smelling damp.
You can also spray yourself to help stay cool which works in much the same way as sweat that helps our bodies shed excess heat.
The water is immediately refreshing and cool when it hits your skin.
Another good idea is to keep the spray bottle, or multiple bottles, in the fridge so they are ready when needed.
Experts have provided other great ways to keep your home cool all day too.
This includes closing your windows and blinds during the day to block the heat and open them early in the morning or at night to let cooler air in.
Freezing your pyjamas and bedsheets for at least 20 minutes will also keep them cool and refreshing for when you're ready to sleep.
It's also advised not to use the oven and to opt for no-cook meals like salads and sandwiches in what sounds like a perfect excuse for a BBQ.
It will keep the heat outside your home and prevent your oven heating your home by a further five degrees.
If your home is already hot, it could contribute to heat exhaustion so picky-bits on a hot day is a brilliant go-to for dinner.
Finally, you can also create your own DIY mini-air conditioning by placing a bowl of ice in front of your fan.
This is great for cooling smaller spots like your favourite chair or the side of the bed.

Bottle brand Air Up sniffs UK success

A scented water brand backed by actors Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis is targeting the UK for expansion. Air Up, which sells bottles that make water taste like fruit and soda, is aiming to crack Britain following success in Germany. The Munich-based company, which is 1 per cent owned by the Hollywood couple, sells water bottles that can be fitted with scented 'pods'. These emit smells which trick the brain into thinking the water is flavoured. The bottles start at £30, while pods for flavours such as watermelon and bubblegum start at £5. While UK customers can already buy the bottles online, Air Up chief executive Christian Hauth said the brand was looking to stock its products in more shops across Britain. Air Up is sold in Boots and Sainsbury's but agreements with more major retailers are expected in the coming weeks. 'We're hitting open doors and open arms in the UK,' Hauth said. 'The main goal for us is to be as ubiquitous as possible and, for that, we need to be where the customer is.' Since it launched in the UK in 2021, Air Up has raked in more than £100 million in sales from British customers, thanks in part to a social media advertising blitz.

How stars including Becky Vardy & Kady McDermott are selling their designer gear on Vinted for fraction of the cost

CELEBRITIES are selling designer clobber on Vinted – where some of their gear can be snapped up for a few quid. There are hundreds of 'star' bargains on the pre-loved site. Famous names such as Wag Rebekah Vardy are flogging their high-end cast-offs for a fraction of the usual price. Steps singer Claire Richards, Love Island's Kady McDermott, boxer Tyson Fury's daughter Venezuela, and model and TV presenter Alexa Chung are among those getting in on the act. Savvy shoppers can kit themselves out thanks to the likes of Rebekah, 43, who is selling a pair of pink Barbie shorts for just £10. Claire, 47, offers a Primark T-shirt for £3, while Alexa, 41, has £6,780 of gear listed, including a Dior saddle bag for £1,500. Meanwhile, Venezuela, 15, is selling a Zara blazer for £30. Kady, 29, who only joined last week, has a pair of leopard-print boots up for grabs for a tenner. As cash-strapped shoppers opt for second-hand, business is booming for Vinted. The app has more than 16million UK users and is worth £4billion. But Vinted and similar platforms are required to report sellers' activity to HMRC.
