Pakistan Carries Out Fresh Drone Attacks In Samba; Blackout In Hoshiarpur; Flight Diverted From Amritsar

India.com12-05-2025
In a violation of fresh understanding with India, Pakistan on Monday night launched a fresh drone attack in Jammu's Samba and Punjab's Amritsar and Hoshiarpur. According to reports, a very small number of drones have entered the Samba sector. India's air defence system engaged them successfully and neutralised them all. The Army sources told ANI that there is nothing to be alarmed.
On the other hand, a loud explosion was heard in Hoshiarpur, leading to a blackout in the area. Hoshiarpur Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain said, "We are declaring a precautionary partial blackout in the areas of Dasuya and Mukerian for some time...I appeal to the residents of Hoshiarpur to observe a voluntary blackout on their part and stay inside their homes. There is no need to panic." She, however, did not confirm the blast sound.
Some reports claimed that drones were also spotted in Jalandhar while a flight from Delhi was turned back from Amritsar Airport due to a blackout following sirens.
This comes days after India and Pakistan reached an understanding to not escalate the conflict further and reduce the tensions following the Operation Sindoor.

At Janata Darbar,ex-Armyman claimsto have taken poison

Lucknow: Commotion broke out during the CM's Janata Darbar in Lucknow on Thursday morning when a 65-year-old former Army personnel, identified as Satyavir Gujjar, walked in and claimed he had consumed some poisonous substance. Satyavir is a native of Loni in Ghaziabad. The incident occurred around 8:50am, police said. Security personnel rushed him to SPM Civil hospital where he was said to be out of danger but would remain under observation for 48 hours. "His condition is stable," said hospital's CMS Dr Rajesh Srivastava. The CM was not present as he was away in Aligarh to pay tribute to former CM Kalyan Singh on his death anniversary. Police recovered a letter, addressed to UP CM , from Satyavir. In the letter, he alleged persecution by BJP's Loni MLA Nand Kishore Gurjar, whom he accused of threatening him and his family. In his application addressed to the CM, Satyavir described himself as a Kargil war veteran and claimed he was being targeted by the MLA for exposing irregularities on his social media page. He alleged inflated electricity bills, financial corruption, and even a conspiracy to destabilize govt. "I fought wars for the country but in my own land, I am losing," he wrote in the letter. The MLA dismissed the charges as baseless. "I don't know this person. He has a criminal background and was even jailed in a murder case with his son," Gurjar told reporters. He claimed that Satyavir had been sacked from the Army and was now attempting to illegally grab property. Police are probing the matter. A state-to-state friction has existed between Pakistan and Afghanistan for the last five to six decades. This friction was evident in the 1980s, the 1990s, and from 2001 to 2021, particularly during the US and NATO presence. And even after the Taliban assumed the reins of the state," Tolo News analyst Najib Rahman Shamal also commented, 'The Pakistani government should reconsider its approach toward Afghanistan, taking into account Afghanistan's circumstances and the Islamic Emirate's past four years of rule, in order to ensure peace in the region," Tolo News of the main issues straining relations has been Islamabad's repeated claims about Afghan soil being used against Pakistan, an issue that, over the past four years, has frequently led to verbal disputes and even armed clashes between the two sides, Tolo News reported. The discussion underscored that addressing the longstanding tensions and disputes between Afghanistan and Pakistan remains crucial, and both sides must engage in constructive dialogue while considering the Islamic Emirate's past four years of governance to promote stability and peace in the region.
