Dockers aim to live like Fyfe ahead of moment of truth
Fyfe announced on Monday he will be retiring at the end of the season, adding a sense of urgency to Fremantle's quest for an elusive AFL flag.
The Dockers are currently fourth with a 15-6 record heading into Friday night's home clash.
But such is the closeness of the top nine teams, Fremantle could miss the finals altogether if they lose to both Brisbane (14-6-1) and the Western Bulldogs (13-8) in the final two rounds.
Sending Fyfe off into the sunset with a premiership would be the fairytale ending to the season for Fremantle.
But Longmuir doesn't want his players to get distracted.
"Some of that talk is the talk that probably takes you away from what you need to do," Longmuir said.
"I thought Fyfey summarised it really well the other day in his speech - you just need to live in the moment and win every day.
'That's what he's boiled his career down to - getting the most out of every day. If we live that mantra, we'll be right."
Fyfe is likely to play as the sub again in what is just his second game back from a calf injury.
The 33-year-old has been beset by injuries in the latter part of his career, and Longmuir praised his resilience.
"He's had a great career," Longmuir said.

"Even tracking him this year, the resilience he's shown to get back and get into this position to be in the team - it's motivating for all of us.
"We want to send him out in the right way, but we need to focus on what we need to do."
Brisbane are aiming to bounce back from last week's two-point loss to Sydney.
Premiership defenders Ryan Lester and Brandon Starcevich return from injury, but star midfielder Lachie Neale (quad) is still missing.
Emerging Lions star Levi Ashcroft, who will get extended midfield minutes while Neale is out, said the key for Brisbane is sticking together and staying connected.
"We didn't play poorly last week, just had a few bad moments or a bad quarter," Ashcroft said.
"(The message is) just stay connected, play together and continue to play our way, because we know our best can be the best and beat any team in this competition."

Hawthorn player tipped as potential target for Eagles in AFL trade with Harley Reid
West Coast are confident they can keep Harley Reid at the club as he is tempted by huge offers in Victoria and Hawthorn have entered the race for the youngster with their ruckman reported to be part of the potential trade. Eagles Coach Andrew McQualter has revealed he is optimistic Reid will remain in Perth with the 20-year-old enjoying his time at the club. The Eagles offer is rumoured to be about $24 million over 11 years - composing of an initial two-year deal with a trigger for the remaining nine. A number of Victorian clubs appear to be interested in throwing huge money at Reid to bring him back to his home state. This week St Kilda coach Ross Lyon attempted to shut down links between his club and Reid after rumours swirled the club was tossing up a $25 million deal for the Eagles player. However, now it appears Hawthorn could be at the front of the queue for Reid. Speaking on Nine News, reporter Tom Morris feels the Hawks are primed to grab Reid if he wants a move. "He's the big fish among the contracted ones to watch. If he asked for a trade, I firmly believe Hawthorn is at the front of the cue," Morris said. And Morris claimed a player that could be used in a trade for Reid, if he wants to move, could be Hawthorn ruckman Ned Reeves. The 26-year-old has not featured much for Hawthorn in recent years and is contracted until 2026. And Morris feels he could be used in part of a trade if it comes to it. "Ned Reeves could easily head to the Eagles as part of a possible Harley Reid trade," Morris added. Despite speculation mounting around where Reid will end up, coach McQualter is pretty confident the 20-year-old midfield superstar won't be going anywhere. West Coast confident in Harley Reid deal While Hawthorn may be looking at a trade deal for Reid, coach McQualter has praised the 20-year-old's attitude and feels he will want to remain in Perth. "I'm really confident Harley will be here," McQualter said on Thursday. "Every day Harley turns up to work, he's incredibly invested in this team, this club. So yeah, I'm really optimistic that Harley will be here." McQualter claimed it wasn't just for next year, but was confident Reid would stay for the long-haul. "I'm talking for a long time," he added. "The young man is really invested. He's working hard to make us become better, to get himself better. He cares about the group, cares about the club. So there's signs that point to me that he's really invested." When asked about whether $2 million a season was reasonable to spend on one player, McQualter doubled down. "Money's different to what it used to be," he added. "When I played, I got paid $48,000. So if you're asking me would I have taken $2 million - the answer is yes, I would have. Was I worth it? No, I think that's pretty obvious. "But I think that's just where the game's trending. It's going up. It'll happen eventually - someone will be that player. There was a time when no one was a million dollar player, and that broke a record. So that'll just be what happens, and it will keep moving like that in the future."
