Lando Norris-Oscar Piastri Create History, Match Feat With Ayrton Senna-Alain Prost
McLaren's Norris and Piastri have bagged six 1-2 finishes this season, the most since 1988.
Star McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri on Sunday, July 27, set the team's most 1-2 finishes in a season since 1988, with Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost achieving it together 37 years ago. While Norris and Piastri have done it six times, they are still four 1-2 finishes away from matching Senna and Prost's feat.
Piastri bagged his sixth victory of the season, with great aplomb that makes him the favourite to defeat McLaren team-mate Norris to the drivers' title.
Triumphant McLaren team boss Andrea Stella, celebrating a sixth 1-2 this year, praised the move by the FIA to start the Belgian GP race late due to wet conditions.

'I think the race was managed in a very wise way by the FIA. We knew there was a lot of rain coming and I think at a circuit like this, if you make the calls late, it may be too late and the outcome could be difficult," Stella said.
Back in 1988, under British businessman Ron Dennis' leadership and with Honda's power, McLaren won 15 out of the 16 races with a whopping ten 1-2 finishes. Ferrari's Gerhard Berger won the Italian GP. Prost won seven races that season, while Senna won eight.
Piastri was disappointed with himself on Saturday, July 26, when he was defeated by title rival and McLaren team-mate Norris in qualifying for Sunday's race, but he turned the tables with a lap one passing move after a rolling start on a damp track.
The Belgium GP takes McLaren's all-time 1-2 tally to 55, placing them third behind Ferrari and Mercedes. They began with a 1-2 in China and followed it up in Miami, Spain, Australia, Britain and now Belgium.
The brilliant performance has led McLaren into a real championship charge. It was McLaren's first Belgian win since former British driver Jenson Button won from pole 13 years ago.

Colapinto reported unhurt after crashing in F1 tyre test
Argentine racer Franco Colapinto crashed in Formula One tyre testing at the Hungarian Grand Prix circuit on Wednesday and was reported unhurt after being taken to the medical centre, his Alpine team said. Renault-owned Alpine, Ferrari, McLaren and Racing Bulls are taking part in the two-day Pirelli test at the Hungaroring that followed on from last weekend's grand prix, the last before the sport's August break. Alpine said in a statement that Colapinto, who took over from reserve driver Paul Aron for the final day, had 'an incident' at turn 11, a right-handed curve that can be taken at 220kph. 'Franco was assessed on site at the medical centre and is OK,' they added. The team gave no details about how the crash happened or damage to the car. Colapinto, 22, replaced Australian Jack Doohan at Alpine after the first six races but has yet to finish higher than 13th for the team in seven starts. He did not start in Britain, after crashing in qualifying and then suffering a gearbox issue, and there has been speculation he could also be replaced before the end of the season. Also read | Cadillac will add value as 11th F1 team, says McLaren's Zak Brown Teammate Pierre Gasly has scored all of last-placed Alpine's 20 points, with three scoring finishes in his last six races. Colapinto told reporters last week that he was lacking confidence in the car and struggling to turn into the corners in the way he would like. 'I didn't have this issue last year (in nine races for Williams), I could go straight in and be quick straight away. Now I'm struggling a bit more with that,' he said. 'Generally, the car is a bit tricky on entries and that's what we are working on, on my side.'

Darwin Nunez Pushed To Al-Hilal As Liverpool Eye Another Isak Bid: Report
Last Updated: Liverpool's Darwin Nunez is set to join Al Hilal for €53 million. Liverpool may pursue Newcastle's Alexander Isak, valued at £150 million. Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez is reportedly on the verge of completing a transfer to Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal, a move that could pave the way for the Premier League champions to reignite their interest in Newcastle United's Alexander Isak. Nunez arrived at Anfield three years ago from Benfica in a high-profile deal worth an initial €75 million ($87 million, £65 million). Despite flashes of promise, the Uruguayan has struggled to consistently deliver, scoring 40 goals in 143 appearances. Over time, he has slipped down the pecking order under former manager Jürgen Klopp and now under new boss Arne Slot. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Al Hilal are prepared to pay an initial €53 million for the 26-year-old forward. This transfer would mark a significant step in Liverpool's summer reshuffle as they look to rebuild and invest further in key areas of the squad. Nunez's role was expected to be further diminished this season following Liverpool's aggressive recruitment strategy. The Reds have already added striker Hugo Ekitike and highly rated midfielder Florian Wirtz, with the club spending over €300 million this summer. Full-backs Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong have also joined the team, increasing competition across all areas. With Nunez nearing the exit, Liverpool are now reportedly prepared to make a fresh approach for Newcastle's Alexander Isak. The Swedish international has been a standout performer for the Magpies and is considered a prime target. However, Newcastle are said to be demanding up to £150 million, which would shatter the current British transfer record. Nunez's departure would bring Liverpool's total income from player sales close to €200 million during this window. Key names have already left the club, including Luis Diaz, Jarell Quansah, Caoimhin Kelleher, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Tyler Morton. Midfielder Harvey Elliott could also be on the move, with interest mounting from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig. Liverpool are reportedly seeking at least €45 million for the England international.
