SJTA to examine Taladhwaja pulling, cordon overcrowding
Temple chief administrator Arabinda Padhee said it was noticed that the Taladhwaja chariot was veering off towards the corners and did not move straight resulting in the delay in pulling it. 'Taladhwaja chariot has 14 wheels and every year, initial problems are seen in pulling of the chariot. We will discuss with Maharana and Bhoi sevayats on the issue,' Padhee said.
He added that the chariot moved without any hindrance on Saturday and reached the Shree Gundicha temple. On Friday, pulling of Taladhwaja was delayed for over 1.5 hours as it kept veering towards its left and right due to improper handling of the four ropes of the chariot by both devotees and security personnel.
As a result, the chariot could not take a straight direction and due to less distance between Taldhawaja and Devi Subhadra's Darpadalana, the latter's pulling could not start before 6.10 pm. Lord Jagannath's Nandighosha could not go beyond Bagadia Dharamshala near the Lions' Gate.

Call to restore stoppage of express trains at Kuhudi stn
Bhubaneswar: People from Kuhudi area of Khurda district on Sunday demanded the stoppage of two express trains, Bhubaneswar-Jagdalpur Hirakhand Exp and Puri-Tirupati Mail Exp, at Kuhudi station. Committee members from 12 villages, including Kuhudi, Ratanpur, Soran and Manasinghpur, along with members of social organisations, held a meeting in Kuhudi on Sunday to discuss the issue in detail. "Before 2020, Hirakhand and Tirupati express used to stop at our station. But that was cancelled during Covid. Though five years have passed, these trains still do not stop at Kuhudi station," said Pabitra Harichandan of Kuhudi. An official source from the railways said the demand for train stoppage will be forwarded to appropriate authorities. They will study the passengers' demand and ticket sales at the station. Odisha museums to have dedicated curatorial cadre
BHUBANESWAR: The cabinet on Wednesday approved the formulation of Odisha Museum Curatorial Services Rules for better management of the museums in the state. Under the new curatorial cadre, assistant curators will be appointed in all museums under the Culture department. The appointments will be made under the Directorate of Museums. Currently, the directorate is being managed (in-charge) by the Culture secretary Bijay Ketan Upadhaya. The service rules have been vetted by GA, Finance and Law departments and concurred by the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC). There are 17 museums under the Culture department. In the existing system, there are 17 assistant curator posts in these museums of which 16 are currently vacant. Officials of the Culture department said under the new curatorial cadre, the number of assistant curator posts will be increased to 39. A total of 38 new assistant curators will be recruited by the OPSC for the directorate of museums. The directorate will now be headed by an IAS or an OAS. Special secretary Deba Prasad Dash said although the directorate was formed in 2023, the cadre rules were not formed for it. While earlier the assistant curator posts had no promotional benefits, they will now get a scope at promotions till superintendent of museum level. Apart from this, 10 ministerial cadre workers will be brought in and four from engineering cadre will come to the directorate on deputation from various departments. But they will not be covered under the Odisha Museum Curatorial Services Rules. 'In the absence of assistant curators now, maintenance of galleries in museums, preservation of artefacts is becoming difficult. After recruitment of the assistant curators, maintenance of museums will be streamlined,' Dash said. The new rules come at a time when the state is planning new museums. The Culture department will soon begin work on the 'Baraputra Aitihya Gram Yojana', which was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his recent visit to the state. Under this, museums and interpretation centres will be set up in the first phase at the birthplaces of 21 Odia 'Baraputras' including Harekrushna Mahatab, Nityananda Mohapatra and the Pancha Sakhas, among others. An amount of `15 crore has been earmarked for each project. Besides, Shree Jagannath museum and interpretation centre will be coming up over 100 acres in Puri.

Online sale of Srimandir Mahaprasad not allowed: Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan
Instead, Harichandan appealed devotees to come to Puri to partake the holy Mahaprasad of Srimandir. 'As of now, there is no provision by the temple to sell Mahaprasad online. Neither does the SJTA give permission to anyone to do so. It does not endorse any food delivery platforms that claim to deliver Mahaprasad online,' the minister said. He also appealed to all temples in the state not to sell their offerings online. The Suara Mahasuara Nijog also endorsed the minister's views. They said that Mahaprasad is not being sold online and if anyone claims of delivering it, it is not from the Srimandir kitchen or Ananda Bazaar. 'In the past, a certain temple administrator had asked us to allow online delivery of Mahaprasad. We had outrightly rejected the proposal then because it does not adhere to the temple norms and the temple's kitchen cannot operate as per people's demands. If one of us accepts the online demand for Mahaprasad and it is not ready on time, the only way to meet the demand would be cooking it outside the temple kitchen and delivering it. This is unacceptable. Only the sacred offering from temple kitchen can be called Mahaprasad and Sukhili Bhoga,' said a member. A few years back, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration had warned against unauthorised online sale of Mahaprasad because its rights are reserved with the temple administration. It had then warned of legal action against anyone found selling Mahaprasad online.
