What3Words app helps Brookville Fire Department find lost individuals
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Finding yourself in an emergency situation without any nearby landmarks can be extremely distressing.
The Brookville Fire Department (BFD) would like to remind people the free What3Words app can help them find exactly where they are.
'Street addresses help us find you most of the time. But trees all look the same, and do not have addresses. So, if you are in a park or stadium, or any other large area, What3Words can help. Latitude and Longitude locations are extremely specific, but it is easy to mess up their long string of numbers,' wrote the BFD.
If you find yourself needing to use the app while calling 911, there are three steps to remember.
Open the app. Wait a few seconds and you will see a blue dot.
Locate yourself. Tap the airplane icon (iPhone) or the crosshair icon (Android). You will see three words at the bottom of your screen.
Give the three words. Read these words over the phone to emergency services.
'We already have several examples where What3Words has helped us find the exact location of lost people and caller locations,' wrote the BFD.
The app itself can be used anytime, free of charge, for any reason – from being lost to finding new locations. Click here to learn more.

34 Mundane But Extremely Useful Items Future You Would High-Five You For Buying
A Finish dishwasher cleaner because yes, the thing that cleans your dishes also needs to be cleaned. 😩 But cheer up! 😀 It couldn't be easier to use — just place it upside down on the bottom rack of your dishwasher (make sure it's totally empty!!!), then run a cycle on the hottest setting. Ta-da! You'll have a sparkling clean dishwasher that looks as fresh as the day you moved in. A Bounce wrinkle release spray in a convenient travel size so you can take it with you on your next vacay. Seriously, who has time to iron while traveling?! There's also no telling if that dusty hotel iron is actually going to work. All you have to do is spray, tug the fabric a few times, then smooth the wrinkles away with your hand. It's also perfect for refreshing any clothes you plan to wear a few times during your trip, thanks to the fresh scent. A pack of duster sponges some reviewers say are even better than the often-sold-out Scrub Daddy Damp Duster (also, why isn't it called the Dust Daddy?!) This is perfect for that annoying caked-on dust that a typical dry duster can't tackle — just dampen it, swipe, then rinse to reuse. An eight-compartment pill organizer so you can ditch the bulky bottles for something that's way easier to slip in your pocket. You'll also be the hero of your travel group when anybody has a sudden headache. A Frida Baby rinse cup that's on basically every parent's wishlist for making bath time an absolute breeze. The spout creates a gentle rainfall effect to help make the rinsing process less overwhelming for babies who are a bit suspicious of this whole H2O business. You can also use the other side for a slightly heavier "waterfall" pour that's still gentle enough for even the fussiest toddler. I'm gonna be honest with you, reader — this looks so relaxing I kind of want one for myself. A suede and leather brush to eliminate the scuffs, oil marks, dirt, and foot impressions that threaten to ruin all your cute warm-weather fits. It has four different sets of bristles so you can scrub as hard or as soft as you want, and it's designed to work by itself — no cleaning solution or soap required! A set of limited edition wildflower Band-Aids so even your boo-boos will be super cute and match all the sundresses you bought for summer. Or! If you scrape your knee while gardening, these floral cuties will keep the happy vibes going. A next-level toothbrush your dentist will be so ridiculously proud of you for using. It has the standard bristles you'd expect from any toothbrush, but the game-changer is the extra-long bristles that are 10x thinner — meaning they can reach in between teeth and under the gum line to help sweep away food and residue. And an electric travel toothbrush that takes up way less space than the one your dentist is always trying to convince you to buy. You'll still get a nice vibrating effect and a helpful 2-minute timer, but it's about the same size as a normal toothbrush! A 3-in-1 wireless charger so you can power up your iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods at the same time — no more wishing you had way more USB ports near your bed! The standout feature might just be the foldable design, meaning you can take it to the office with you so your noise-canceling AirPods never run out of juice. Imagine having to listen to your co-workers instead?! A jar opening tool that will be an absolute lifesaver when that jar of Ragu is holding on to the lid like its life depends on it (to be fair, it kind of does). It has four different slots to help open a variety of jar sizes, and there's even a helpful hook at the top to help with pull-tab cans when it's a Chef Boyardee kind of night. A pack of Neutrogena makeup remover towelettes, which will become your new travel staple since you can take the exact amount of makeup wipes you need instead of bringing an entire pouch or a bulky jar of cleaning balm. You can also bring one with you to refresh your skin while you're out and about running errands when the sun is blazing. A set of Tide sink packs so you can easily hand-wash your clothes, meaning you can pack less and re-wear more on your next vacation! Simply fill your sink with warm water, add one sink pack, agitate and soak your items in the water, then rinse, dry, and be thankful for all the extra carry-on space. An absolutely genius device called a "Supoon" — this perfectly sized spoon not only helps you scrape every last bit of food from the container (think: peanut butter, yogurt, cream cheese, etc.) but also has a unique design that keeps it away from the countertop when you set it down! This is about to prevent SO many "babe, stop leaving your peanut butter spoon on the counter" arguments. Suction cup knobs that are about to completely change your bathroom storage game. The twist-and-lock design can easily adhere to glass, plastic, mirror, or porcelain surfaces — and it holds up to 15 pounds! You can also easily remove them and place them in a new area as many times as you want, so your loofah knobs can become your hand towel knobs with ease. Miss Mouth's Messy Eater Stain Treater Spray — it's so effective that you'll remain suspiciously calm the next time your tot's chocolate milk makes its way from their sippy cup to the couch cushion. Or when your glass of merlot faces a similar fate. Just spray, blot, rinse, and pour another. A bottle of sulfate-free biotin shampoo that has reviewers feeling like they're the star of a Pantene commercial. Biotin can help provide a fuller appearance to your strands (hello volume!!!), while rosemary and coconut oil are known to moisturize the scalp (bye-bye, itchiness). You'll be ~toss, tossing~ your hair like Glinda in no time. 💁♀️ A pack of LeakLocks Toiletry Skins — they slip over the caps of your liquid toiletries to help prevent leaks! Genius! Imagine never worrying about your sunscreen exploding and making an absolute mess of your fave toiletry bag. A genius brush and squeegee combo so you can just swipe all your countertop messes directly into the sink. It even has a built-in ledge so you can hang it when not in use. A ridiculously helpful eyelash comb to solve one of the biggest beauty dilemmas: what do I do when my mascara clumps?! Put down the makeup wipes — this helpful little comb will remove the excess mascara and separate your lashes at the same time. It's also perfect if eyelash curlers make your lashes look smushed together. An on-the-go Gillette razor with a mini handle and carrying case that makes it an absolute breeze to pack in your carry-on. But you don't have to sacrifice quality for convenience — this has five blades for a close shave and moisturizing strips infused with avocado oil to keep your skin feeling silky smooth. A pack of antibacterial paper soap sheets that will seriously come in handy when the public restroom you're using is out of that mysterious pink sludge they call soap. Just pull out a sheet, wet it, then get to lathering. A storage strip to keep your brooms and mops off the floor and free up some much-needed space in your utility closet. It might even convince you to clean more, but no promises. A no-scrub weekly shower cleaner that'll stop soap scum and residue from forming before they have a chance to take over your entire tub. Just spray and walk away — your future self will be so grateful. A set of fridge bins to add some order to your chaotic mess of groceries. And because you'll be able to actually see all your food, you might just end up using that bag of lettuce before it goes bad. A pack of all-natural bottle-cleaning tablets that'll help remove stains and odors from any water bottles or coffee tumblers that you've left unwashed for an embarrassingly long time. It happens. Just fill your cup with warm water, drop the tablet in, and wait 15–30 minutes; rinse your cup, then get back to hydrating and/or caffeinating yourself. Over-the-door shelves for storing other smaller accessories that are scattered all over your home. Actually, you might want one of these for every door in your home. Many reviewers use it to store socks, undergarments, and other clothing items, though it's also perfect for kitchen pantries and linen closets! The beloved Hard as Hoof nourishing cream made with beeswax and jojoba oil to condition brittle nails and cuticles (on your fingers AND toes!) and have them looking as shiny and fresh as they did before that gel manicure did its damage. It's designed to sink in quickly (a rare feat in the world of cuticle oils) and it also smells like coconuts. I probably should have led with the coconut part. 🥥 🤤 A universal travel adapter you can use in over 160 countries — because nothing is more annoying than realizing you forgot to bring the right adapter. You can use it to charge up several devices at a time, so you can have your phone, power bank, laptop, and AirPods charging at once! A reusable gel lint roller that's a major upgrade from the traditional sticky rolls that require approximately 10 sheets just to clean one shirt. Just pop open the cover and roll it over any garments that need a good sprucing up, then give it a quick rinse, and it'll be ready to use again! A garbage disposal cleaner — it can tackle any food residue that's been lingering in there for far too long. It makes you realize adulthood is just learning about all the things you never realized you were supposed to be cleaning. A pack of space-saving compression bags that do not require a vacuum or pump!! Just place your bulky coats and sweaters inside and roll the bag up tightly to release the air and save some major space in your carry-on. A pair of handheld scrapers — they'll make your cast iron pans look as good as the day you bought them. It's gentle enough to use on nonstick surfaces, and unlike a sponge, this won't trap a bunch of food particles that are hard to rinse out. Now you can spend less time cleaning and more time whipping up culinary masterpieces. A cult-favorite foot file that'll grind away at calluses and have your heels and toes looking silky smooth and ready to slip into your coziest socks. There are many foot files out there, but more than 85,000 Amazon reviewers say this one works like a charm.

25 Work From Home Products To Help You Get It Together
A stylish to-do list planner for anyone who is tired of getting to 4 p.m. and realizing you haven't eaten or completed a single task, and your insides are drier than a cactus. This leafy-luxe daily organizer will help you keep track of it all — appointments, meals, workouts, gratitude, water intake, the works — so you can finally stop juggling 10 apps or 15 sticky notes and start making actual progress. Also, it's undated. So, when life be life-ing, you can ghost it for a week and pick right back up with no judgment. A three-in-one wireless charger to keep your desk from looking like a bird's nest of wires, cords, and cables. If you're team Apple, you'll love the convenience of being able to charge your iPhone, AirPods, and Apple Watch all at once *and* not having to take up three precious outlets to do it. Whether you're looking to simplify your charging setup or reduce the clutter on your desk, this is the multitasking BFF your chaotic workspace has been waiting for. A desktop vacuum if your keyboard has become the final resting place for your mid-afternoon snack crumbs. This super sucker is strong enough to get up pet hair, paper shreds, and the entire contents of your everything bagel — but quiet enough not to interrupt your next Zoom call. And if you are someone who needs a guilting stare to motivate you to keep your desk clean, just add goggly eyes to it like this reviewer did. A headphone stand so that you know exactly where they are when your boss puts a last-minute Zoom meeting on your calendar. It's made of sleek aluminum, works with nearly every major headphone brand, helps to keep your valuable desk space clear, and always keeps your audiophile ear muffs within arm's reach. A computer monitor memo board if you can't quit sticky notes, but are tired of looking at a sea of them all over your desk. All you do is mount it to the side of your monitor with its adhesive backing and — boom! No more forgetting passwords, meeting times, and that one crucial thing your boss slacked you about. A document clip that holds up to four sheets of paper right at eye level, so you're not craning your neck or squinting at your lap while typing. It mounts to basically any screen, can be adjusted for eye-level comfort, and its clip-able design makes it travel friendly. Your back is calling, and it's begging you to get this. A space-saving whiteboard to sit right in between your keyboard and your monitor for effortless note-taking, doodling, or writing passive-aggressive reminders to yourself to drink water. It's angled for easy writing, wipes clean in seconds, and handles clutter like a champ with built-in storage drawers and a phone slot. It's giving 'CEO of Getting Things Done.' A sleek stand that will raise your laptop by six inches to keep you from hunching over like the Grim Reaper. And if your computer breathes like it just ran a marathon from having 50 tabs open (totally *not* talking about me), this will also provide some serious airflow to help with overheating. It's made of sturdy aluminum, supports almost any laptop, and folds up for easy storage when your "desk" turns back into the dining room table. And a monitor stand to literally level up your desk area and reclaim it from the clutter monster that has made a home out of your office for months. It brings your screen to a more natural eye level, making all-day screen time more comfortable for your neck and back. And with a built-in spot for your phone and slots for cables, you'll finally be able to serve the clutter monster its eviction notice. Or an under-desk laptop holder if you want to hide your work computer from yourself to signal to your brain that you have "left the office." It discreetly hides your device, frees up space for other hobbies, and keeps your desk looking clutter-free. It's easy to install, ultra-sturdy, and protects your computer from spills, accidents, and way-too-nosey pets. A digital clock that is large enough to help you keep track of your "10-minute" TikTok breaks in between emails. The glowing, LED display is not only easy to read at a glance, but this time tracker also has settings to tell you the date and temperature. It's the perfect blend of form and function, with an aesthetic look and lighting that can auto-adjust based on the time of day. A daily flip calendar for anyone who feels too tempted by their phone to only just check the date. This cutie sits right on your desk, and you can make a ritual out of flipping the cards each morning to give your day a fresh start. No apps. No distractions. Just the date, front and center so you don't show up to a Thursday Zoom thinking it's Tuesday... Again. 😅 A pack of organizer trays if your desk drawer looks more chaotic than a Where's Waldo picture. This 25-piece set helps you turn even the most wild-looking drawers into a Pinterest-worthy workspace. With four different tray sizes (for everything from lip balm to rogue paper clips) and grippy bottoms, you'll never have to worry about items slipping and sliding around, and then having to go on an archeological dig to find them. A set of under-the-desk drawers because you splurged on the cutest minimalist desk, but later realized that drawers might be nice. Instead of having your pens, paper clips, and other tiny clutter sitting on your desk, all you have to do is slap this sleek drawer underneath with the included sticky pads. No tools, no drilling, just *clean surfaces* and ~relaxed vibes~. A label maker if your current WFH set up is held together by random cords, a swamp of sticky notes, and ~vibes~. This pocket-sized wizard is here to help you get the chaos in check and maybe even allow you to pretend... Imagine... dream that you have the ability to be a type A worker. It requires no ink to use *and* you can choose from dozens of cute icons, borders, and unique fonts to label everything in sight. Bonus: the labels are waterproof, heatproof, and scratch-resistant — and they actually stay put (even on greasy surfaces). A pack of cord holders that will actually keep your laptop charger on your desk. These magnetic cable clips stick to your worktop, snap your cables into place, and make sure your charger doesn't disappear every time you shift your computer. No more crawling around your chair and bruising your knees trying to find the one cord that fell (again). A cable management box if you've *almost* tripped one too many times on the surge protector and the sea of cords by your desk. This roomy organizer tucks away everything from chargers to power strips, has large openings for ventilation and airflow, and the smooth wood lid actually makes it look like home decor. And a pack of cord labels because you are a frequent guest on the world's worst game show, 'Guess That Cord,' every morning. Is it the monitor? The laptop? The phone charger? With 30 reusable, velcro cable labels, you'll finally know which cord belongs to what and save yourself so much time and frustration. A set of wall file organizers for when your desk is covered in so much paperwork, you actually can't remember if you even have a desk under there. This durable and stylish gem tames all those loose documents with three separate tiers and label slots for easy sorting. It keeps everything from bills to notebooks right where you need them — off your desk. Or a triangle file holder because between deadlines, Slack pings, and random Amazon returns, you don't have time to hunt for paperwork when you need it. This glamorous, 10-slot rack keeps everything upright, sorted, and within arm's reach, keeping your workspace curated and composed. Best of all — it arrives assembled. You just unbox it and it's ready to go. A rollable tray table that will truly allow you to work from wherever you want in your home. Work from bed? From the couch? From your bathtub? — Go for it! This sleek C-table has an adjustable height and a 360-degree swivel table top that will make working from various locations a breeze. The raised edge will keep your drinks and snacks from going overboard, while the easy glide wheels will allow you to roll your "desk" wherever your 'office' happens to be that day. A pad protector so that your desk looks as pristine as the day you unboxed it. It shields your work surface from scratches, spills, and coffee catastrophes while also doubling as a giant, smooth mouse pad. So, not only will your desk be protected, but it also gives your workspace that 'I have my life together' look. *Bonus*: reviewers note that it feels buttery soft under your wrists. A mini bookshelf made from solid wood if you are tight on space in your work area, but you also have stacks on stacks of books you need to refer to constantly. It tucks neatly into any corner, shelf, or desk setup, and it's adjustable — with five different setups for you to choose from that best fit your storage needs. From stationery to desk trinkets and plants, every item will have a home. A pack of chic ceramic coasters for anyone who has accidentally left their iced coffee on an important document and had a wet ring mark cause their writing to bleed all over the page. They soak up every drip and save your workspace from turning into a water-stained mess. Plus, the included metal holder keeps them neatly stacked when you're not using them, and the cork bottom keeps them from sliding around and scratching up your desk. A sophisticated pack of felt tiles that will turn your pile of reminders, to-do lists, and torn-out pages into a curated display. They offer a modern alternative to the clunky corkboard of your college years, and they're super easy to install with the included adhesive tabs. Bonus: they absorb sound, so your space will instantly sound and feel calmer — even if your inbox doesn't.
