The newly inaugurated Maharaja Agrasen Airport in Hisar, Haryana, will now offer a direct flight to the state capital, Chandigarh. The first flight from Hisar to Chandigarh is set to operate on Monday.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will inaugurate the service on Monday at 3.20 pm. The flight is scheduled to arrive in Chandigarh at 4.30 pm. The return flight will depart from Chandigarh at 4.55 pm and is expected to land in Hisar at 5.55 pm.
According to the flight schedule of Hisar-Chandigarh released by Alliance Air, the ATR-72 aircraft will operate between the two cities twice a week, with a flight time of approximately 60-70 minutes. The introductory flight tariff has been kept at Rs 1,449-1,704 one way.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated flight operations from Hisar airport on April 14 by flagging off a Hisar-Ayodhya flight.
The distance between Hisar and Chandigarh is 252 km, and the journey takes approximately four to five hours by road. The journey takes approximately seven hours by train. Last month, a train connecting Hisar with Chandigarh was launched from Hisar's Raipur railway station. It departs from Hisar at 2.25 am and reaches Chandigarh at around 9 am.
The work at Hisar airport is continuing. The government had bifurcated the construction/expansion work at the airport into three phases. The first phase's work, including the civil aviation domestic terminal and three aircraft hangars, was completed in 2018 at a cost of Rs 50 crore.
The runway expansion, from 4,000 feet to 10,000 feet, at a cost of Rs 250 crore, has been completed. The night landing facilities have been installed at the airport. The construction of the Air Traffic Control tower, staff quarters, fire station, and maintenance building has also been completed in the second phase of the airport expansion.
In the third phase of the airport's construction/ expansion, the government has earmarked Rs 3,700 crore and aims to complete it by 2030. The Haryana government seeks to develop Hisar airport as an international hub, with the construction of an international terminal planned for the third phase.
Chandigarh is connected with over 18 cities on domestic air routes. These include 12 flights to Delhi, six each to Mumbai and Bengaluru, four each to Jaipur, Srinagar, Leh, and Hyderabad, and two each to Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Dharamshala, Indore, Jammu, Lucknow, Chennai, Patna, and Pune. Direct flights from Chandigarh to Ayodhya and Nanded Sahib are also likely to be launched soon.

Chhattisgarh unveils Rs 49,000 crore irrigation & hydropower push in Bastar as anti-Naxal ops clear path

Chhattisgarh has proposed ₹49,000 crore mega irrigation and hydropower projects in Bastar as anti-Naxal operations advance across Left-Wing Extremism-affected districts. About 45 years after the Godavari Water Disputes Tribunal Award allocated 301 TMC of water from the Indravati River to Chhattisgarh (then part of Madhya Pradesh), the state has proposed two projects - construction of the Bodhghat dam and interlinking the Indravati and Mahanadi rivers. Despite being allocated 301 TMC of water from the Indravati, the state currently utilises only 25 TMC. The Bodhghat project proposes to use 96.27 TMC. Due to Naxal activity, no dam or related infrastructure could be implemented in Bastar. Of the 8.15 lakh hectares of crop area, irrigation facilities currently exist for only around 1.36 lakh hectares. With anti-Naxal operations now in full swing in Chhattisgarh, the state government has proposed construction of the ₹29,000 crore Bodhghat dam and the ₹20,000 crore interlinking project. According to the proposal, this will provide irrigation facilities for 7 lakh hectares of land. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 7 Mistakes People With $1M+ Make When Hiring Financial Advisors SmartAsset Learn More Undo The two projects will span Naxal-affected districts including Mungeli, Rajnandgaon, Kawardha, Dantewada, Sukma, Bijapur, Kanker, and Narayanpur. According to sources, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai met Prime Minister Narendra Modi last week and urged that the two projects be granted "national status". This would ensure central funding. In a letter to the Prime Minister, reviewed by ET, Sai stated, "Given the high cost of the project, it is extremely difficult for the state to implement it with its own resources. Therefore, it is requested that these projects be declared as National Projects, so that their implementation can be ensured for the development of Bastar." In addition to irrigation, the Bodhghat multipurpose project is expected to generate 125 MW of electricity and produce 4,824 tonnes of fish annually. It will also supply water for drinking and industrial use. As per the state's proposal, 269 villages will benefit directly. However, there are significant challenges to implementation, including 10,440 hectares of land to be fully submerged, 28 villages to be entirely affected, and 14 to be partially affected. The Indravati-Mahanadi interlinking project will also require clearances from the Central Water Commission and the Ministries of Environment and Tribal Affairs. Live Events

UP to open procurement centres, announce maize MSP soon: CM

Kanpur: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said the govt will open procurement centres for maize and declare the minimum support price (MSP) for the crop soon. Addressing a gathering under 'Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan' at Ajitmal in Auraiya, the CM accused the previous govts at the Centre and in Uttar Pradesh of ignoring welfare of farmers. "For the first time in independent India, farmers became part of the central govt's political agenda in 2014 when Narendra Modi took over as the Prime Minister and several innovative schemes were introduced for their welfare," the CM said. Highlighting a change in agricultural patterns, he said that earlier the farmers in the state were limited to one or two crops, but maize emerged as a profitable third crop, cultivated on over five lakh hectares of land. "Farmers are now earning up to Rs 2.5 lakh per hectare. We assure farmers that we will soon open procurement centres and declare MSP for maize as well," the CM said. He said that under the BJP's double-engine govt, agricultural scientists and experts from Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) were sent from labs to the fields for the first time. "This 'Lab to Land' initiative is part of PM Modi's vision of taking farmers from 'seed to market', prioritising their interests. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Pinga-Pinga e HBP? Tome isso 1x ao dia se tem mais de 40 anos Portal Saúde do Homem Clique aqui Undo It was in 2014 that the farmer, the provider of food, was included in the govt's political agenda. This was visible for the first time when PM Modi launched the soil health card scheme," he said. Yogi said that before 2014, hardly anyone apart from agricultural scientists knew about soil health cards. "Schemes like the PM's agricultural irrigation scheme and crop insurance were launched. Today, over 12 crore farmers across the country are benefitting from the PM-KISAN scheme," he said. "In UP alone, Rs 85,000 crore has been transferred to the accounts of 2.86 crore farmers so far. Our govt has given jobs to eight lakh youths so far. On June 15, Union home minister Amit Shah will hand over appointment letters to 60,000 personnel recruited in the police force," he added. Highlighting the plight of farmers before the BJP came to power in 2017, he said: "Farmers were committing suicide, sugarcane dues were unpaid, and there were no procurement centres for maize, pulses, oilseeds, potatoes, paddy, or wheat. In 2017, we waived farmers' loans worth Rs 36,000 crore for 86 lakh farmers. We expanded irrigation capacity under the PM Krishi Sinchai Yojana, covering an additional 23 lakh hectares of land. " The govt also provided free electricity for 15 lakh private tube wells of farmers, for which Rs 2,700 crore was paid to the electricity department annually, he said, adding that under the PM Kusum Yojana, more than one lakh farmers had received solar panels. He said that under the SP govt, law and order had deteriorated, and recruitments were marred by nepotism. "Back then, gangsters ruled, women and traders were unsafe, and recruitments were controlled by 'uncle and nephew'," he alleged. He said that the BJP govt recruited over 1.6 lakh teachers and asserted that hiring in various departments including PWD, irrigation and agriculture was done with complete transparency. "It's been a long time since Auraiya became a district. There was no police lines here, therefore, the facility is being constructed at a cost of Rs 272 crore. A bridge is being built over the Yamuna River for Rs 151 crore. A CM model composite school is also being constructed. Budgets have been allocated for agricultural science centre," he said. He said the One District, One Product (ODOP) initiative connected two crore youths to self-employment, while 65 lakh youths secured employment through investments. He cited the destruction of temple in Kashi by Aurangzeb and its restoration by Ahilyabai, explaining the renaming of Auraiya University in her honour. Agriculture minister Surya Pratap Shahi and minister of state Baldev Singh Aulakh were present. Earlier, the CM conducted an aerial assessment of maize cultivation in Auraiya, Kannauj, Etawah, and Kanpur Dehat.

‘Ghat being built on Ulhas river using MLA funds illegal, raze it'

Thane: State irrigation department declared illegal and ordered the demolition of Antilia ghat being built at a cost of Rs 7 crore by the public works department (PWD) through the funds of BJP MLA Kumar Ailani on Ulhas River in Ulhasnagar's Shahad area. The direction to Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC) came on a complaint by activist Sarita Khanchandani. In 2022, PWD started work after Ailani disbursed MLA funds to construct the ghat for Ganpati immersions and a walking path for citizens behind Regency Antilia housing society. Khanchandani first complained to UMC that trees were illegally cut on the banks of Ulhas River. When UMC did not respond, she complained to the irrigation department, under which the river area falls, as well as the Thane collector's office. "Google images of the riverbank clearly show that before the construction of the ghat, there was greenery. However, current images reveal that the greenery has vanished. The comparison between the before and after images is striking. Shockingly, the UMC commissioner, who also serves as the tree authority head, personally attended the bhoomipujan," she said in her complaint. "...age-old heritage trees were chopped down, leaving the riverbank's soil loose and vulnerable to flooding. Following the complaint by the activist, the irrigation department, in its written order to UMC, said, "Timely action is expected from urban civic bodies for the removal of encroachments and unauthorised dumping along the river. Accordingly, it is requested that your department take immediate and necessary action to remove these unauthorised constructions and fillings in the Ulhas riverbed in connection with the complaint. " Ailani, however, denied that the construction was illegal. "Whatever work is being done, PWD is doing it with permission of the Thane collector's office. During Ganpati, people have to go to Kalyan for visarjan, so a ghat is being built there. We have planted about 200 trees in the area so target is to plant 1,000 trees."
