Man accused of stabbing Garda agrees to stay in custody pending DPP directions
Abdullah Khan replied "sound" in Cloverhill District Court on Wednesday when told that his next hearing was set for September 3rd and that he was going to have a further consultation with his legal team.

Mr Khan, with an address in north Dublin that cannot be reported by court order, was arrested at the scene following an incident at around 6pm on Capel Street in the city's north side on July 29th.
He appeared before Judge Patricia Cronin on Wednesday for his second court appearance, having been held in custody with no bail application on July 31st.
Appearing via video link, seated and wearing a grey sweatshirt, he confirmed to his solicitor Katie Dowling that he consented to being further remanded in custody pending the DPP's decision on the case.
He initially said, "That's all right," "Yeah, yeah," and "Thank you" when his case was called early and put to second calling.

When it resumed, he spoke up to give his surname and confirmed to his solicitor, Katie Dowling, "I can hear you".
It was explained to him that the matter was listed for mention, and he answered, "Yeah".
Judge Cronin noted the DPP's directions were not yet available. Detective Sergeant Liam McLaughlin, of the Bridewell Station, informed the court that he was applying for a four-week remand if there was consent.
During later exchanges with Ms Dowling, Mr Khan was informed that the directions were not available and he was entitled to apply for bail at any stage.

The defence solicitor also explained that the State was asking for another four weeks for those directions, and he could consent to a two-week adjournment, but it was unlikely that they would be available. Or, she said that he could agree to a four-week adjournment.
"On consent to the four weeks," he replied.
Judge Cronin remanded him in continuing custody, noting that a video link appearance was acceptable on the next date.
At the end of the hearing, his solicitor advised him that he had a video link consultation arranged for that night, adding, "we will be able to discuss the matter in more detail at that stage", to which Mr Khan replied, "Sound".

Ms Dowling also advised him that if he wished to apply for bail, he could do so at any time once gardaí have been notified in advance.
The injured garda, a young probationary member of the force who was on high-visibility patrol with a colleague, received hospital treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
The accused man is charged with assault causing harm to the officer and the production of a Tactix knife capable of causing serious injury.
He has yet to indicate a plea to the charges, which are under section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act and section 11 of the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act.
At the first court appearance on Thursday, the defence secured reporting restrictions on the publication of Mr Khan's address, due to "concerns around safety", which was confirmed by Detective Sergeant McLaughlin. Medical attention in custody was also ordered, and legal aid was granted.

Woman, 41, found dead after ‘being driven to location' as three men arrested on suspicion of murder
THREE men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead. Police have launched an investigation after Shara Miller, 41, was discovered in Smethwick, West Midlands, on Monday morning. 1 Emergency crews rushed to Woodbourn Road after her body was found just after 6.10am. Despite their best efforts, Shara was tragically confirmed dead at the scene. Three men, aged 38, 31 and 29, have since been arrested and remain in custody. Bhim Kohli's teenage killer to have sentence reviewed at Court of Appeal
A teenage boy who killed elderly dog walker Bhim Kohli is set to have his sentence reviewed at the Court of Appeal on Wednesday. Mr Kohli, 80, was punched and kicked, slapped in the face with a shoe and racially abused in an attack in Franklin Park, Braunstone Town, near Leicester, on September 1 last year, and died the next day. The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to seven years' custody in June, when he was aged 15. The Attorney General's Office (AGO) announced in July that the Solicitor General, Lucy Rigby, had referred the sentence to the Court of Appeal under the unduly lenient sentence scheme. Lawyers for the teenager will also make a bid to have the sentence reduced at the same hearing. Following a six-week trial at Leicester Crown Court, the boy was convicted of manslaughter but cleared of murder. A 13-year-old girl, who also cannot be named, was convicted alongside him. She encouraged the attack by filming parts of it while laughing, with video clips showing the balaclava-clad boy hitting Mr Kohli with a shoe. The girl was sentenced to a three-year youth rehabilitation order by Mr Justice Turner, but her sentence has not been referred to the Court of Appeal. Mr Kohli's children found him lying on the ground in agony, when he told his daughter that he had been called a 'Paki' during the attack, the court heard in the trial. Jurors also heard the boy say in his evidence that he had a 'tussle' with Mr Kohli over his slider shoe before he slapped the elderly man with it out of 'instinct', which caused the pensioner to fall to his knees, but that he denied kicking or punching him. In a letter written by the boy to a woman who had worked with him at the residential unit where he was being looked after, he wrote: 'I f****** hate what I did. I regret it so much. 'I have flashbacks of that day and it just upsets me. I kinda just needed anger etc releasing.' Mid Leicestershire MP Peter Bedford and the MP for South Leicestershire, Alberto Costa, wrote to the AGO in June asking for the sentences to be reviewed. A spokesperson for the AGO said last month that Ms Rigby was 'appalled by this violent, cowardly attack on an innocent man'.
