
Bengaluru ranks 14th among world's top startup ecosystems
The city has jumped seven places from its 21st rank last year, marking the biggest leap among the top 20 global startup cities. Bengaluru is also the highest-ranked Indian city in the report, ahead of Delhi (29th) and Mumbai (40th).
Globally, Silicon Valley continues to hold the top position, followed by New York and London in second and third place, respectively. Bengaluru has also been ranked 5th among the top 50 cities in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) sector, reflecting its growing strength in deep tech and innovation.
The GSER report highlighted the success of Indian startups in 2024, especially Bengaluru-based ventures, with several high-value IPOs like Indegene Rs 1.11 lakh crore, Swiggy Rs 96,000 crore, GoDigit Rs 30,000 crore and Blackbuck Rs 8,600 crore.
These successful listings delivered significant returns to early investors and further boosted India's reputation as a thriving startup nation. The report credited Karnataka government's support for the deep tech ecosystem as one of the reasons behind Bengaluru's rise in global rankings.Industry experts believe this global recognition will attract more investors, talent, and innovation to the city, strengthening its position as a leading startup hub in Asia.

The smaller 49 kWh battery provides a WLTP range of up to 344 km and is equipped with a front-wheel drive configuration that generates 142 bhp and 193 Nm of torque. In contrast, the larger 61 kWh battery is offered in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The front-wheel drive variant achieves a range of up to 426 km, powered by an electric motor that produces 171 bhp and 193 Nm of torque. The all-wheel drive version enhances power to 181 bhp and 307 Nm of torque, with a range of up to 395 km. Charging durations for the batteries differ: the 49 kWh battery charges from 10 percent to 100 percent in 6.5 hours using a 7 kW AC charger and in 4.5 hours with an 11 kW charger. India's first Hydrogen train clears key trials ahead of launch

Recently, this train has cleared load tests and is set for final commissioning. The Ministry of Railways has envisaged to run 35 Hydrogen-powered trains under 'Hydrogen for Heritage' on various heritage/hill routes. Developed by Chennai-based Integral Coach Factory (ICF), the hydrogen train will provide larger benefits in the direction towards green transportation technology to support zero carbon emission goals as a clean energy source. 'The much-anticipated Hydrogen Trainset has successfully passed load tests and is progressing well. It will be rolled out shortly,' said U Subba Rao, General Manager, ICF on Friday. The railways will conduct the field trials of first hydrogen trainset on 89-km-long Jind to Sonipat stations of Haryana. The stations fall under the administrative control of Delhi Division of Northern Railway (NR). Mahindra eyes 350-acre land acquisition in Igatpuri for expansion
Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has expressed its interest in acquiring 350 acres of land in Igatpuri, Maharashtra, as part of its plan to expand manufacturing capabilities and strengthen its supply chain network, according to news agency PTI . The Mumbai-based automaker, which already operates plants in Nashik and Igatpuri, has submitted a letter of interest to the state government, M&M Executive Director and CEO for Auto and Farm Sectors Rajesh Jejurikar said. 'The land parcel could be used for multiple purposes, including setting up a supplier park or facilities to support our Nashik and Igatpuri plants,' Jejurikar told reporters, adding that the proposal is at a preliminary stage and subject to due diligence, regulatory clearances, and internal approvals. Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of M&M's Automotive Division, said the company is also boosting production capacity at its Chakan plant by around 2.4 lakh units in the first phase this year, taking the facility's annual output to 7.5–7.6 lakh units. Plans for greenfield sites to further expand capacity beyond 2027 are also under consideration. M&M has committed over ₹27,000 crore in investments for its automotive business between FY25 and FY27.
