Man banned from the roads after drug-driving in Kinmel Bay
Ian MacGregor, 45, of Belgrave Road, was handed a 12-month driving ban at Llandudno Magistrates Court yesterday (June 3).
MacGregor pleaded guilty to drug-driving during yesterday's hearing.
The court heard that at 10.50pm on February 24, a police officer saw a vehicle being driven on Foryd Road without its lights turned on.
After the officer stopped the car, the driver – MacGregor – gave a positive roadside drugs test for cannabis.
He was arrested and taken to custody, where a sample of his blood was found to contain four micrograms of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) – a compound in cannabis.
In mitigation, the court was told that MacGregor has no previous convictions.
MacGregor was said to be working part-time, and in receipt of Universal Credit, meanwhile.
Sentencing, District Judge Gwyn Jones endorsed MacGregor's licence, and ordered him to pay a £200 fine, court costs of £85, and a surcharge of £80.
The judge told MacGregor he had dealt with him as 'leniently as I possibly can'.
He added to him: "Don't drive while banned, otherwise you'll be back before a court.'

According to his LinkedIn page – which has been deleted as the story of his promotion gathered heat – he has almost no experience in this field. Before his promotion, he was working as a neighborhood gardener just five years ago and in a supermarket as recently as August 2023. Fugate interned at the Heritage Foundation, the think tank behind Project 2025, and for Texas Representatives Terry Wilson and Steve Allison. Bradford headteacher welcomes free school meal announcement
A headteacher has welcomed government plans to extend the free school meals scheme to include more September 2026 all children in families receiving Universal Credit credit will be eligible regardless of their income, in a move expected to benefit more than 500,000 government said the changes to free school meals would save parents £500 a year and "lift 100,000 children out of poverty".Joanna Baxendale, headteacher at Green Lane Primary School in Bradford, said: "Without free school meals, our children simply will not be able to access the curriculum, they won't be able to learn the maximum capacity, they wouldn't be able to reach their full potential." She added: "Our children come from a very deprived area and a high percentage of our children access free school meals."We already supplement that with free breakfasts and things like that, because we recognise many of our children don't start the day with a breakfast, so they're already not ready to learn. "We all know if you've got an empty tummy, you can't concentrate. "As an adult you know that." Disposable vapes worth £10k seized days after sale ban
Illegal vapes worth up to £10,000 have been seized after complaints they were being sold to Police said it went to a shop in Whitworth, Rossendale and found the single-use e-cigarettes, which were made illegal on Sunday. The force also said it had found e-cigarettes that contained tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), a substance found in cannabis. A 35-year-old man from Rochdale was arrested on suspicion of intent to supply a psychoactive substance. Sgt Paul Marsden said: "It's great that we have been able to remove a quantity of illegal vapes from the streets of Whitworth, including those that we suspect to contain THC. "Those using these vapes risk inhaling very dangerous substances, and we are determined to protect people from the threat these illicit vapes pose.
