The global e-bike market is projected to grow from USD 48.72 billion in 2024 to USD 71.48 billion by 2030 at a CAGR of 6.6%. The worldwide demand for e-bikes is growing rapidly as customers see them as an eco-friendly solution for commutes, with rising fuel prices supporting this inclination. Government bodies in various cities worldwide have undertaken initiatives to build bicycle highway lanes for e-bikes.
European e-bike sales declined in 2023 due to wars, inflations, overstocks of e-bike components, and a global economic slowdown. Furthermore, due to wars, European consumers do not want to spend more money buying e-bikes. According to data from the European Cycling Industry Federation (ECF), European e-bike sales declined by 15.3% in 2023. This is a significant drop from the 11.2% growth the market saw in 2022. In 2024, the e-bike market saw a decline of 3.1% and is expected to increase from 2025 due to the growing popularity of e-bikes for commuting and leisure; governments worldwide are investing in infrastructure and incentives to promote e-bike use. An increase in demand for micro-mobility service providers, a rise in sales of e-bikes, and a rise in demand for energy-efficient e-bikes are some of the factors expected to increase the demand for >2 kg -

Lithium-ion in the battery segment is forecasted to be the largest e-bike market.
Ebikes equipped with lithium-ion batteries are projected to hold the largest market share, attributed to the numerous advantages these batteries offer, including superior lifecycle, high energy density, wide operating temperatures, and a higher power-to-weight ratio compared to other battery types. Lithium-ion batteries have become the preferred choice for electric bikes over lead-acid batteries due to their superior performance and long-term benefits. One of the critical advantages of lithium-ion batteries is their higher energy density, which allows them to store more energy in a smaller and lighter package compared to lead-acid batteries. This translates to more extended range and reduced overall vehicle weight, making lithium-ion batteries ideal for electric bikes. Another significant advantage of lithium-ion batteries is their longer lifespan. They can handle more charge cycles than lead-acid batteries, with lithium-ion batteries lasting 2000-5000 charge cycles, while lead-acid batteries have a shorter lifespan. Lithium-ion batteries require less frequent replacement, making them a more cost-effective option in the long run. Furthermore, the prices of lithium-ion batteries have witnessed a significant decline in recent years, plummeting by approximately 90%. Intensifying competition within the market has compelled manufacturers to slash costs to maintain competitiveness.
Mid Motor is forecasted to be the fastest-growing e-bike market in the motor segment.
The mid-drive motor is forecasted to be the fastest-growing segment in the bike market. Mid-drive motors are positioned near the pedals, where a traditional bike's crankset is. This placement allows them to engage the drivetrain directly, resulting in a more natural and responsive riding experience than hub motors on the wheels. Mid-drive motors can be more powerful than hub motors, offering excellent assistance when climbing hills or accelerating. Additionally, they deliver higher torque, which translates to better pulling power, which is especially beneficial for tackling challenging terrain or carrying heavy loads. Mid-drive motors suit various e-bikes, including mountain, commuter, and gravel. Mid motors manage batteries efficiently while consistently delivering power. North America and Europe shifted towards mid-motor motors compared to hub motors because mid-drive motors place the weight near the center of the bike, which can improve handling and balance compared to hub motors concentrated in the wheels. This is a significant advantage for performance-oriented riders and those tackling technical terrain, and these regions are facing high demand for mountain/trekking bikes. Europe has the largest market for mountain/trekking e-bikes, with a market share of 63% in value. Meanwhile, mountain/trekking e-bikes are North America's second-fastest-growing e-bike type after cargo e-bikes.
North America region holds the largest share of the EBike Market.
In North America, cargo e-bikes are expected to grow at the highest CAGR due to the increased adoption of electric bikes for transporting goods from one place to another, traffic congestion, and rising fuel prices in North American cities. Cargo e-bikes offer a faster and greener alternative to traditional delivery vans or trucks, especially for last-mile deliveries. Ebikes require minimal maintenance and have lower electricity costs compared to gas-powered vehicles. Some regions offer subsidies or tax breaks for businesses switching to e-bikes, further boosting their adoption. This is increasing the demand for cargo e-bikes. In December 2024, AIMA EBIKE USA and its North American dealer team announced their entry into North America at CES 2024. AIMA launched models like the Big Sur and Santa Monica, featuring Bafang's H550 and H560 systems, which gained strong interest.
Major players operating in the Asia Oceania e-bike market are Giant Manufacturing Co. Ltd (Taiwan), Hero Lectro (India), TAV Systems (Australia), Yamaha Motor Company (Japan), Merida Industry Co. (Taiwan), and Emotorad (India)

Middle East tensions boost oil prices, threaten to disrupt supply
Tuesday marked the fifth day of fighting between Israel and Iran with the risk of a widening conflict dampening investors' risk appetite. With tensions running high, U.S. crude rose 2.26 per cent to $73.39 a barrel for West Texas crude — the U.S. benchmark oil price — while Brent crude, the European benchmark price, rose to $75.09 per barrel, up 2.54 per cent on the day. The price of Western Canada select was trading at just under $58 U.S. on Tuesday morning — well above the low of less than $48 in early May. The Israel-Iran conflict could further drive up prices for crude oil and gasoline. Iran is a major producer of oil and it sits on the narrow Strait of Hormuz, through which much of the world's crude passes. View image in full screen Oil prices have jumped on fears a wider Middle East conflict could disrupt tanker traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, through which much of the world's oil supply is shipped. File No disruptions to the global crude supply have been reported yet, although news of a collision between two ships in the Gulf of Oman sent another brief jolt through the oil market overnight. Story continues below advertisement 'This is happening at a point in time where we are less sensitive, first of all, the fact being that oil prices are still down year to date and secondly, the macro-economy is showing that financial markets are relatively resilient at the moment,' Bjarne Breinholt Thomsen, head of the cross-asset strategy at Danske Bank, said in a webinar on Tuesday. The Canadian dollar traded for around 73 cents U.S. Tuesday morning, down from Monday's close at $73.76. Gold prices backed off slightly on Tuesday, trading at just under $3,400 U.S. per ounce around noon, after jumping to $3,424.24 on Friday as investors sought a safe place to put their cash. That's about $1,097 higher than a year ago. 0:50 Massive fire at Iran oil depot after Israeli attack Investors will also be keeping an eye on the U.S. Federal Reserve when it meets on Wednesday to discuss whether to lower or raise interest rates. Story continues below advertisement U.S. President Donald Trump has been critical of chairman Jerome Powell for not cutting interest rates. The nearly unanimous expectation among traders and economists is that the Federal Reserve will continue to stand pat as it waits to see how Trump's tariffs affect the American economy. 'One thing that settled the markets earlier this year was the independence of the Fed (Federal Reserve) and the fact they would not be influenced, but data-driven,' said Matt Rubin, chief investment officer at Cary Street Partners in Richmond, Va. 'Jerome Powell is going to continue to express that they are focused on data at this point and that data does not warrant a cut.' If oil prices remain elevated in the long-term, they could be a blessing for Alberta's provincial budget, which was forecasting a $5.2-billion deficit on the expectation that oil prices would average about $68 per barrel. Each $1 increase in the price of oil is predicted to increase provincial government revenues by about $750 million. — With files from Reuters and The Associated Press

Bharti Airtel, the group's flagship company, has since emerged as one of the leading global communications solutions providers with over 550 Mn customers in 15 countries across India and Africa. Bharti Airtel ranks amongst the top three mobile operators globally and its networks cover over two billion people. In India, Worldmark at the national capital is a renowned address. Bharti Real Estate, the realty arm of Bharti Enterprises and owner of Worldmark, plans to build the best Global Business District in the nation at Aerocity, New Delhi, adding over 17 million square feet of gross leasable area to its Worldmark portfolio with an investment of approximately 2 billion USD. Previous research has identified the top three global attractiveness factors of Global Business Districts (GBDs): talent concentration, business efficiency, and instant connectivity, among others like social infrastructure, wellness, and sustainability. Mr. S. K. Sayal, MD & CEO, Bharti Real Estate said, " India must promptly prepare to accommodate forward-thinking corporations and brands, as it is increasingly acknowledged as one of the world's fastest-growing economies. In contrast to conventional commercial complexes, these businesses and brands are interested in ecosystems that are assessed according to global standards. Our precise objective is to achieve this by providing Worldmark GBD with unparalleled leasing opportunities with our offices and retail spaces to the most reputable corporations and brands, who are currently experiencing exponential growth and are focussing on India as a potential market for this growth." New Delhi has been yearning for a purpose-built commercial district for quite some time. A lack of contemporary commercial premises, much less business districts, has been out of place in India's capital, a city that is rich in history, culture, connectedness, and power. These days, businesses and brands are looking for locations that provide their employees and visitors with great commuting options, access to world-class infrastructure, a sense of safety and security, easy parking, and a social life that promotes happiness and productivity. Bharti aims to fill this gap as an inclusive urban destination as the demand for internationally comparable commercial districts becomes absolutely essential for corporations and retail brands both. For Offices, the Global Business District, Worldmark provides on-lease offices anywhere from 2000 to 2,000,000 sq ft on a single floor plate, making it ideal for ambitious multinationals targeting India. The offices are campus-style and accessible by a multi modal mobility network. Worldmark's proximity to the airport and excitingly the airport being at the centerPoint for New Delhi provides it a unique advantage in the commute to work, one of the world's most pressing issues for businesses and people. Worldmark can be reached from anywhere in India or the world via neighbouring airports and adjacent national highways. Rapid metro lines in the multi-mobility network cover 100 km in about an hour. Worldmark as a destination has demonstrated a strong desire for a substantial retail opportunity, which would cater to the 0.2 million workforce, walk-in visitors coming from national and international locations, and leisure travellers from the nearby hotels. The answer to this mega opportunity is The Mall, an expansive approx. 2.8 mn retail destination in the country comprising of an exclusive luxury zone, a generous family shopping and recreation zone and the largest indoor entertainment avenue, the country would have ever witnessed before. While development continues, Offices and the Mega Retail have experienced a surge in pre-leasing enquiries, with several major companies already committing to Worldmark. Worldmark 3.0 and Worldmark 4.0 will add 10 million sq ft to the portfolio over the next three to five years. For this 10 mn square feet Bharti Real Estate is getting several Built-to-Suit campus requests from multinational businesses. Worldmark is a registered trademark of Bharti Realty Ltd.
