Sharjah Chamber to take part in the International Handicraft Exhibition in Florence 'MIDA 2025'
Sharjah: The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) is set to take part in the upcoming edition of the International Handicrafts Trade Fair (MIDA) taking place in Florence, Italy, from April 25 to May 1, 2025. The exhibition is one of the world's premier platforms for showcasing exquisite traditional, handcrafted, and innovative products.
The UAE Jewelry and Perfume Platform, which encompasses the 'Emirati Goldsmiths' and 'Emirates Perfumes' pavilions, will be representing the Sharjah Chamber during its distinguished participation in the event.
The Platform is one of SCCI's pioneering programs and initiatives aimed at empowering and supporting Emirati entrepreneurs and designers in the jewelry and perfume industries. It seeks to provide them with international exposure, enabling them to showcase their creations and expand their business horizons.
The Sharjah Chamber's high-level delegation will be headed by H.E Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, and will include Mona Sultan Al Suwaidi, Director of the Executive Office of the SCCI's Chairman and in charge of the Emirati Goldsmiths Platform.
The delegation also comprises six talented Emirati women designers who will showcase their latest innovative collections of jewelry and perfumes. Through their participation, they aim to highlight the remarkable progress achieved in the UAE's perfume and jewelry industries while preserving the authenticity of traditional Emirati heritage.
In his remarks, H.E Abdallah Sultan Al Owais stated that the Sharjah Chamber's participation in MIDA 2025 reflects its commitment to supporting national talent, particularly in creative and artisanal sectors that represent the UAE's authentic cultural identity.
He noted that the participation also aims to open new avenues of cooperation between Emirati entrepreneurs and their counterparts from around the world, while leveraging advanced expertise in jewelry and perfume manufacturing to support the growth of these domestic industries.
For her part, Mona Al Suwaidi emphasized that the Emirates Goldsmiths Platform is keen on maintaining its regular participation in the International Handicrafts Trade Fair.
'This prominent global exhibition is a key opportunity for Emirati designers to present their most outstanding jewelry innovations to a global audience and gain insights into the latest trends and technological advancements in the industry,' she added.
As part of its agenda during the exhibition, the Sharjah Chamber delegation will hold a series of strategic meetings designed to enhance economic collaboration between the business communities of Sharjah and Florence.

Sharjah Chamber to honour Sharjah Excellence Award winners on June 25
The Sharjah Excellence Award (SEA)'s Board of Trustees has announced that the closing ceremony to honour the winners of the award's 2024 edition will take place on 25th June. During the meeting, SEA's Board of Trustees approved an extension of the registration deadline for the award's 2025 edition to 31st January 2026. Discussions included key proposals, most notably the potential launch of a new category titled 'Best Service Entity'. The Board also underscored the importance of collaboration and knowledge exchange with prominent excellence awards across the UAE. Abdallah Sultan Al Owais opened the meeting by welcoming the attendees and praising the efforts and achievements of the Sharjah Excellence Award's team. He affirmed the Sharjah Chamber's ongoing commitment to enhancing the award's impact as a strategic platform for promoting excellence and innovation across the business sector. This initiative aligns with Sharjah's integrated development strategy, which prioritises quality, innovation, and institutional excellence in building a competitive and sustainable knowledge-based economy. Al Owais further underlined the award's role as a catalyst for advancing corporate performance standards and actively contributing to the ambitious development path of Sharjah and the UAE. Nada Al-Hajri, General Coordinator of the Sharjah Excellence Award, stated that the meeting produced key outcomes that will define the award's upcoming phase. Among them is the decision to extend the registration deadline for the next cycle to 31st January, 2026, allowing greater participation from private sector institutions. SEA's Board of Trustees also recommended evaluating the introduction of a new category under the title 'Sharjah Award for Best Service Entity'. Abu Dhabi approves AED4.62 billion housing package for over 3,000 Emiratis
A new AED4.62 billion housing package has been approved in Abu Dhabi to support 3,052 Emirati families with home loans and debt relief, under the directives of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The announcement comes just before Eid Al Adha and is part of the country's ongoing efforts to improve the lives of its citizens, especially in building stronger families and communities. Out of the total amount, AED4.4 billion will go to housing loans for 2,862 citizens, while AED212 million will cover loan exemptions for 190 low-income retirees and families of deceased citizens. This is the second housing aid released in 2025, raising the year's total housing benefits in Abu Dhabi to AED11.38 billion. The Abu Dhabi Housing Authority said the package is meant to provide better homes and reduce the financial burden on Emiratis, helping families live more comfortably and securely. Officials also highlighted earlier housing support efforts, including the AED250,000 community subsidy and the option to cut monthly loan payments by up to 50%.
