OIC Expresses Condolences to Iran after Massive Explosion at Bandar Abbas Port

Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), expressed his deepest sympathy and full solidarity with the Government and the people of the Islamic Republic of Iran over the huge explosion that occurred at the port of Bandar Abbass, Southern Iran, causing many deaths and injuries.
In these sad circumstances, Taha offered his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wished a quick recovery to the wounded.
The OIC Secretary-General commended the Iranian Authorities for the emergency measures and actions taken to mitigate the impacts of the blast and assist the victims.

Foreign Ministry: Maintaining the Stability of Navigation Lanes is an Urgent Necessity
Amir Hagag Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, stressed the need to maintain the stability of international navigation lanes and enhance regional cooperation among the countries bordering the Red Sea to preserve the security of the Red Sea and ensure freedom of international navigation. During his meeting with Annette Weber, the European Union Special Representative for the Horn of Africa, on the sidelines of his participation in the Oslo Forum, the Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed that any threat to the security of the Red Sea directly impacts the global economy, especially in light of the growing challenges facing the region. Minister Abdel Aty reviewed Egypt's vision regarding developments in the Horn of Africa and was keen to learn about the European Union Special Representative's assessment of the latest developments in the Sudanese crisis. He emphasized the need to spare the lives of Sudanese, alleviate their suffering, and preserve the capabilities, unity, and institutions of the Sudanese state. He also reviewed Egypt's efforts aimed at resolving the crisis as quickly as possible and Egypt's keenness to participate in various mediation and settlement efforts. Iran Threatens U.S. Bases Amid Nuclear Tensions
Ahmed Emam Iran issued a stark warning on Wednesday, threatening to target U.S. military bases across the Middle East if a conflict breaks out, as both nations prepare for a new round of nuclear negotiations clouded by deep divisions over uranium enrichment. Iranian Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh made the remarks in response to recent American threats of military action should diplomacy fail. 'We hope the negotiations reach a conclusion,' Nasirzadeh said, 'but if they don't and we are forced into a conflict, there is no doubt the other side will suffer far greater losses than we will.' Nasirzadeh emphasized Iran's ability to strike U.S. positions across the region. 'We can reach all of the United States' bases, and we will target them without hesitation in their host countries,' he declared. 'In such a scenario, the U.S. will be compelled to withdraw from the region.' The United States maintains several military installations in countries neighboring Iran, including its largest regional base in Qatar, which hosts the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) headquarters. Egypt, Norway Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Ties, Regional Crises at Oslo Forum
Ahmed Emam Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held talks with his Norwegian counterpart, Espen Barth Eide, on the sidelines of the Oslo Forum, focusing on enhancing bilateral cooperation and addressing regional developments in Gaza and Sudan. The meeting underscored the growing momentum in Egyptian-Norwegian relations, with Abdel Aaty praising recent political and economic progress between the two nations. He highlighted the ongoing dialogue at the highest levels, including President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's visit to Norway in December 2024, and welcomed the launch of regular political consultations, as agreed upon during that visit. Abdelatty emphasized Egypt's interest in strengthening economic collaboration, particularly in renewable energy. He expressed appreciation for the efforts of Norwegian company Scatec in Egypt and looked forward to the implementation of new joint projects that would boost Norwegian investment in the country. Trade between the two nations was another focal point, with Abdel Aaty encouraging the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) and the Norwegian Investment Fund for Developing Countries (Norfund) to consider increasing their financial support for Norwegian companies operating in Egypt, particularly in clean energy and aquaculture sectors. He noted that these efforts would benefit from Egypt's recent economic reforms. The Egyptian minister also voiced interest in expanding trilateral cooperation in Africa, citing Norway's strategic engagement with the continent following the launch of its Africa Strategy in August 2024. On regional issues, both ministers exchanged views on the situation in Gaza. Abdel Aaty commended Norway's long-standing support for Palestinian rights and international law, and outlined Egypt's intensive efforts to broker a ceasefire, facilitate humanitarian aid, and mitigate the worsening humanitarian crisis in the besieged enclave. He reiterated Egypt's firm position on the Palestinian cause, advocating for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Regarding Sudan, Abdel Aaty reaffirmed Egypt's support for the unity and stability of its southern neighbor. He stressed the importance of safeguarding Sudan's national institutions, sovereignty, and territorial integrity amid the ongoing conflict.
