Aishwarya Sharma: On TV, it's easy to get typecast as a negative character
Aishwarya Sharma
Aishwarya Sharma
has been on a conscious break since her appearance on
Bigg Boss 17
two years ago. She shares, 'That's because I'm mostly being offered negative roles. On TV, it's easy to get typecast as a negative character, especially if you have sharp features.
No one looks beyond that to consider your versatility. I did take up two positive roles, but unfortunately, both shows were scrapped. I've also turned down offers due to low budgets. While I'm open to playing a negative character, I'd prefer doing so in the web space, where the roles are fresher and more dynamic.'
Ask her if she feels tempted to take up roles just for the visibility and she responds, 'I'm not concerned about visibility on TV; I'm more focused on finding quality projects.
I understand that opportunities are rare, especially with the competition in the industry. But for me, creative satisfaction outweighs everything.'
'I don't want to take on similar characters and fall into a cycle of template acting, where the job becomes monotonous.'
Aishwarya also addresses the challenges TV actors face when transitioning to the
OTT
space. 'TV actors are often treated as second-rate, and I've personally experienced that.
I'm actively working to break into OTT, but casting directors have told me that due to my overexposure on TV, I may need to wait. I've been in this industry for 10 years, and I've learnt to navigate the ups and downs. I have faith in myself and don't mind waiting for the right opportunity.'

'There is no trouble in our marriage'
Recently, there were rumours about trouble in her marriage to actor
Neil Bhatt
. Ask Aishwarya about it and she says, 'We are happily married. Just because we're not constantly posting pictures or being seen together doesn't mean we're having issues. We prefer not to be constantly clubbed together in the workspace. We are individual actors with our own paths, but we always support each other. And yes, like any married couple, we do have our disagreements. The rumours about our marriage started because I've rented a place in Malad for my collaborations and shoots.
It's just more practical to have a dedicated space for work, which can be difficult when living with family,' she concludes.

Old video of Aamir Khan and Aishwarya Rai dancing on Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge song resurfaces. Watch
The song 'Tujhe Dekha Toh' from Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge is as iconic as the film itself. Starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in the lead roles, the film and its music defined an entire generation's idea of love and romance. However, in a video that has resurfaced online, the fans get a glimpse of what the film would have looked like in a parallel universe, as actors Aamir Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan can be seen dancing together on the track. Their chemistry in the video has left viewers wondering—what if? While Aishwarya is dressed in an elegant pink lehenga, Aamir can be seen wearing a leather jacket similar to the iconic one that Shah Rukh Khan wore in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. Both actors seem to be giving it their all at what looks like an award function, and Aamir even gets on his knees in the middle of the choreography. Sung by Kumar Sanu and the legendary Lata Mangeshkar, everything from the song's lyrics to visuals became etched in people's minds and still remains an important track from the careers of everyone involved in it. ALSO READ | Aamir Khan defends son Junaid Khan's Maharaj and Loveyapa performances, says he refuses his help: 'His career matters to me more than mine' There have been other instances of 'what-if?' situations with Aamir and Aishwarya, as director Dharmesh Darshan revealed in an interview that he wanted to cast Aishwarya opposite Aamir on several occasions. Darshan told Bollywood Hungama that Aishwarya was his first choice for both Mela and the role of Memsaab in Raja Hindustani (1999), but he was worried if she would be able to give her full attention to the films. He said, 'She was also my first choice for the role of Memsaab in Raja Hindustani (1996). My heart was on her. But she urgently had to go for Miss World. I didn't want to take any chances, as I wanted an actress who could devote her full time to the film and Bollywood. It was her sheer grace that she didn't hold it in her heart.' The duo could have also worked together in the film Josh (2000), as director Mansoor Khan wanted to cast Aamir Khan as the romantic interest of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, but things didn't go according to plan. In an interview, Mansoor said, 'I was intending to cast Aamir as the romantic lead opposite Aishwarya. But when I narrated the script to Aamir, he thought he was playing Max. Then I went to Shah Rukh; he was really excited about Max. I narrated it to him; he suggested a lot of things for Max's character.' Mansoor admitted that casting both Aamir and Shah Rukh in the same film didn't work out, and he ultimately had to drop the plan.

Comedian Aishwarya Mohanraj reveals how a 9-year-old ‘Mother India' inspired her name; internet hails ‘amazing plot twist'
Ever wondered how people get their names? Sometimes it is after a grandparent, sometimes after a film star, and sometimes… the story is so unusual it leaves you smiling in disbelief. That is exactly what happened when comedian and YouTuber Aishwarya Mohanraj shared the unexpected story behind her name. What began as a nostalgic tale from her mother's school days unfolded into a twist worthy of a theatre curtain call—and the internet could not get enough of it. Taking to Instagram, Mohanraj posted a video revealing how she was named Aishwarya. 'Aishwarya Rai became Miss World in 1994 and I was born in 1994, so obviously people assume that I was named after her. But I was born on July 26, and she became Miss World on November 19, so I was not named after her,' she explained. Then came the real story. 'When my mom was young, she used to attend 'Bal Vikas' classes where they taught about gods, prayers, scriptures, and good values. Every year, they'd put up a value-based play with songs, dances, and drama. When my mom was 14, she took part in one such play. One of the characters was Mother India, played by a nine-year-old girl named Aishwarya,' Mohanraj shared. It was the first time her mother had heard that name—and she instantly fell in love with it. The little girl playing Mother India was so adorable and charming that her mother reportedly decided then and there: if she ever had a daughter, she would name her Aishwarya. 'Fourteen years after that play, she gave birth to her daughter and named her Aishwarya. Fourteen years after that play, the girl who played Mother India went on to become Miss World—Aishwarya Rai,' Mohanraj revealed, leaving everyone stunned by the beautiful coincidence. She ended with a laugh: 'So I guess, I am named after her.' A post shared by Aishwarya Mohanraj (@aishwaryamrj) The video quickly went viral, amassing over 3 lakh views, with users flooding the comments section in awe of the story. Mentalist Suhani Shah wrote, 'Woahhhh!! What storytelling.' Another commented, 'The plot twist was amazing!!' A third added, 'Turns out the two Aishwaryas we know are more connected than we thought. Beautiful story. Love your parents' story. And by the way—sharp editing. The music was perfectly done.' One more summed it up perfectly: 'I'm fully convinced your life is a movie, and we're all just side characters—including Aishwarya. She's there for the plot, and the plot is great.'
