NEW DELHI: Chennai Super Kings captain
MS Dhoni
won the toss and chose to bowl first against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their Indian Premier League match on Saturday. CSK retained their previous match playing XI for this contest. RCB will look to bolster their standing in the IPL points table while CSK are already out of contention for the playoffs. RCB had beaten CSK by 50 runs in Chennai in their earlier match in the tournament.
"We are looking to bowl first. We want to make the most of the last four games we have got. Try to look into next year and which individual will fit into what role. Yes we want to win games but getting the most of the four games is important. It seems tacky, must have been under covers for quite some time and other than that it is a venue where scoring runs is easy. It is a high-scoring venue and after the initial start it will be quite good to bat on," Dhoni said during the toss.

"It is important to express but the batters need to play to their strengths, if you are bowler don't think what if the execution is not right, make a plan and bowl with full confidence. (Powerplay plans) Let it be plans Ravi Bhai (laughs). Same team," he said.

RCB replaced Josh Hazlewood with Lungi Ngidi.
"We would have fielded as well. But the wicket will not change that much. We will try to put a good total on the board and keep them under pressure. Everyone is in a good frame of mind and doing their roles, as a captain I am very confident in my boys. Till now many players have performed for the team and that is a good sign. We have 4 games and we will try our best in all the games. Every game is important from now, we are not looking at qualification and we will try our best in all four games. One change - Ngidi comes in for Josh," Patidar said during the toss.

R Ashwin argues with female umpire, hits his pad with bat in anger after getting out in TNPL match

Ravichandran Ashwin lost his cool during Sunday's Tamil Nadu Premier League match between Dindigul Dragons and IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans. Ashwin, who had a rough IPL season with Chennai Super Kings, has returned to action in TNPL, leading Dindigul Dragons in the 2025 edition. The veteran all-rounder came out to bat as an opener after losing the toss to Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore. The move didn't work out well, as Ashwin was dismissed cheaply for just 18 by his counterpart - Sai Kishore. However, the former India all-rounder was not impressed with the umpire's decision and argued with her. It was the fifth ball of the fifth over, and Sai Kishore trapped Ashwin in front of the wicket, and the umpire straightaway gave him out, but the Dindigul opener thought it was pitching outside the leg-stump. He straightaway went to the umpire and argued with her before walking back towards the pavilion. The 38-year-old was livid with the decision and hit his pads hard with the bat in frustration. The Tiruppur bowlers put up a collective show with the ball and bundled out Ashwin and co. for just 93 in 16.2 overs. Shivam was Dindigul's highest run-getter with a 30-run knock, while only three of their batters managed to cross the double-digit mark. Right-arm seamer Esakkimuthu was the pick of the bowlers for Tiruppur with four wickets under his kitty, while Sai Kishore claimed a couple. Chasing the modest target, wicketkeeper batter Tushar Raheja scored an unbeaten 65 to make it a cakewalk for Tiruppur as they won the match by 9 wickets with 49 balls to spare to stamp their domination in the match. Earlier, 38-year-old Ashwin had a forgettable IPL season on his return to Chennai Super Kings, where he started his journey in the tournament in 2009. The veteran all-rounder claimed just 7 wickets in 9 matches and scored 33 runs with the bat. Five-time champions CSK might release him next year, as he has also dropped from the XI in a few matches this year. Meanwhile, last year in December, he shocked the cricketing world by announcing his retirement with immediate effect in the middle of the Test series against Australia. Ashwin retired from international cricket as the second-highest wicket-taker for India in Tests with 537 scalps in 106 games, leaving him only behind Anil Kumble (619 wickets).

He Should Have Slapped Me...: Shashank Singh Breaks Silence On Shreyas Iyers Angry Reaction After Qualifier 2 Of IPL 2025

Punjab Kings (PBKS) batter Shashank Singh has opened up on Shreyas Iyer's angry reaction after his run-out in Qualifier 2 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Ahmedabad. PBKS skipper Iyer played a fantastic knock (87 not out off 41) as his team chased down the target of 204 in 19 overs against Mumbai Indians. However, Shreyas Iyer got extremely furious at Shashank Singh for his lazy running, which led to his run out at a crucial stage of the game. Recently, Shashank said that PBKS skipper should've slapped him. He also revealed that even his father didn't speak to him till the final against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), which Punjab Kings lost by six runs. "I deserve it, Iyer should have slapped me, my father didn't speak to me till the finals. I was casual, I was walking on the beach not even in the garden. It was a crucial time, Shreyas was clear that I didn't expect this from you but later he took me out for dinner," Shashank told the Indian Express. Shashank has also hailed Iyer's captaincy, saying that there is no better skipper than Shreyas in current times in world cricket. "Whatever I have spoken to others and seen, there is no better captain than him in current times in world cricket. He gives us freedom, he treats everyone equally. No one will say, Shreyas has an attitude. The youngsters in the dressing room find him to be a chill bandaa. Shreyas is the only captain, who has told us that if anyone has any suggestion during the game, he can come and convey it to him. If he feels it's the right advice, he will take it. It's rare," he said. When it comes to his performance in the IPL 2025 final, the 33-year-old remained unbeaten on 61 off 30. However, it wasn't good enough as PBKS lost to RCB by six runs. During that innings, the right-hander missed a couple of easy full tosses, including one in the final over. "I had done my calculation of the last two overs, Bhuvi likes to bowl yorkers so I had planned to get at least 16-17 runs from him. My calculation was that in the last over our target should be 24 runs in 6 balls. I got only 13 from Bhuvi's over though, so the final over runs needed was 30," said Shashank. "Mentally, my mind was ready to get a first ball yorker from Hazelwood. So I had positioned myself but I never anticipated a full toss one, that too on my thigh pad. Now I feel, if I would have connected it, even if I got it on the handle of the bat, I would have got maximum, because the fine-leg was near. I was hoping for a wide from him but it never came. When I saw the scoreboard stating the last ball needed 12 runs, I knew it's all over. People appreciated my batting wherever I have gone but all are reminding me of that one full toss miss. Mujhe bahut bura laga. The ball was on my hip, square leg was up, I just had to get that bat in which I couldn't. From hotel to airport to ground to home, everyone had that one point 'bhaiyya woh ball mar dete bas'," he added.
