Sky Sports: Morgan Gibbs-White Absent from Nottingham Forest Training Camp
Sky Sports has reported that Morgan Gibbs-White has not joined Nottingham Forest on their pre-season training camp in Portugal due to a personal matter. While the midfielder's absence is unrelated to football or transfer business, the timing has sparked renewed focus on his situation with the club.
Unpacking Gibbs-White's Absence
According to Sky Sports News' Rob Dorsett, the issue was 'communicated by the midfielder internally' and Forest are 'happy to respect his privacy.' The club has made no public comment but expect him to join the squad, who arrived at Faro airport today, later this week.
This development comes at a delicate time for Forest and Gibbs-White. There has been persistent tension following Tottenham Hotspur's £60m bid for the 25-year-old, a move that Forest blocked. Spurs, now led by new manager Thomas Frank after Ange Postecoglou's dismissal, remain keen on the midfielder. Yet relations between the two clubs are strained.
Transfer Saga: Forest Hold Firm
The stand-off has been fuelled by Forest's accusations that Tottenham made an illegal approach and breached a confidentiality clause regarding Gibbs-White's buy-out figure. Forest have written to both Spurs and Gibbs-White's agent, reserving the right to pursue legal action if necessary.
Despite this, Gibbs-White has not signalled any intention to push for a transfer. As the original Sky Sports report highlights, he 'has continued to report for duty in line with his personal training plan' and there is 'no indication he will take strike action or try to force through a move.'

Tottenham's Interest Remains Alive
With Thomas Frank eager to reshape his Spurs squad, Gibbs-White remains a key target. Tottenham are 'prepared to meet his £60m clause' but have yet to make a formal move since the dispute erupted. For now, the situation is deadlocked, leaving both clubs in limbo.
Forest's position is clear: they want to keep one of their standout players, particularly after narrowly avoiding relegation last season. Gibbs-White, meanwhile, must balance his career ambitions with loyalty to a club that has given him a central role.
Looking Ahead for Forest and Gibbs-White
The coming weeks will be critical. If Gibbs-White rejoins the squad as planned and resumes preparations, tensions may cool. However, if Tottenham make a renewed push, Forest will face tough decisions. As one insider put it: 'Forest's bosses shut down lines of communication with Spurs,' showing they are determined to defend their interests.
Forest supporters and Premier League watchers will be watching closely to see if this personal matter stays separate from the footballing drama, or if it becomes another chapter in an ongoing saga.
Our View – EPL Index Analysis
From the perspective of a Nottingham Forest supporter, this situation feels painfully familiar. We have seen too many talented players eyed up by bigger clubs, and Gibbs-White's case is another blow just as we prepare for a critical season.
Forest invested heavily in him, not just financially but in building the team around his creativity and leadership. Now, with Tottenham circling and tensions rising, fans feel we are left clinging to statements about privacy and internal matters while fearing the worst.
The appointment of Thomas Frank at Spurs has only made things more uneasy. Frank is known for spotting talent and improving players, and for him, Gibbs-White fits perfectly. As a Forest fan, it's hard not to feel we are fighting a losing battle. Legal threats and closed-door warnings might slow Spurs down, but will they truly keep a determined player and a top-six club at bay?
Many of us worry this personal absence, no matter the reason, creates an opening for more speculation, more whispers, and ultimately more pressure on the club to sell. We want Gibbs-White to stay and help us push on, but right now, we fear the off-pitch drama will overshadow what really matters: results on the pitch.

Alexander Isak Wage Demands Revealed as Liverpool Retain £130m Transfer Hope
Liverpool's Watchful Eye on Alexander Isak Amid Newcastle Contract Turmoil Liverpool are keeping tabs on Alexander Isak as Newcastle United face increasing pressure over the striker's future. As reported by Anfield Index, Lewis Aspinall revealed that Isak is seeking a major pay rise to remain at St James' Park. 'Alexander Isak, after everything that has gone in the past few days and weeks, has said to Newcastle United that he wants a £300,000-per-week contract to stay at Newcastle,' Aspinall told Jack McIndoe. 'They can't go out and say that Alexander Isak is worth £150million and then expect him to be happy with his current contract.' This comment speaks volumes about the situation Newcastle find themselves in. They have publicly placed a marquee valuation on the Swedish striker but have not matched that figure with a suitable wage offer. It is the sort of tension that arises when a club with ambition tries to play in a financial league they have not yet earned the right to stay in comfortably. Liverpool's Calculated Interest Liverpool's interest in Isak is longstanding, and with Hugo Ekitike arriving from Eintracht Frankfurt for £69 million, it might appear that the Reds are done for this window. But sources close to the club suggest Isak remains firmly on their radar. Isak's pace, movement and clinical finishing make him an ideal fit for Arne Slot's attacking system. Slot, who won the Premier League in his debut campaign at Anfield, is now building a squad with Champions League glory in mind. The Dutchman is known to be a fan of versatile forwards who can lead the press and finish in tight spaces, two of Isak's strongest qualities. Jack McIndoe made a salient point: 'It just screams lack of experience at Newcastle United. If they value him at £150m or even higher, because he is a very good player, then they need to give him a new contract.' It is a logical view and one that suggests Isak may not be at Newcastle for much longer if this wage standoff continues. Financial Tensions in the North East Newcastle's dilemma goes deeper than just keeping Isak. As McIndoe noted, 'You'll find Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali, Lewis Hall, Tino Livramento will all want new deals.' The club's wage structure, previously modest in comparison to other top-six sides, will now come under serious pressure. 'If Newcastle want to play with the big boys, then they're going to have to start giving out those big contracts,' he added. This could force them into tough decisions, such as the kind Liverpool made when selling Philippe Coutinho. 'We sold Philippe Coutinho for huge money and brought in Virgil Van Dijk and Alisson Becker, who have now helped us win multiple league titles and a UEFA Champions League,' said McIndoe. Newcastle's balancing act will either fast-track their evolution into an elite side or result in departures that reset their progress. Either way, clubs like Liverpool will be watching closely. Final Thoughts Liverpool's pursuit of Alexander Isak is not purely opportunistic. It reflects an elite club's readiness to pounce when uncertainty arises. Arne Slot's side may yet strengthen further, and if Isak's wage dispute leads to a sale, the Reds could be poised to strike.

New signings feature as Arsenal defeat Milan
Arsenal beat AC Milan 1-0 in their opening pre-season game in Singapore as summer signings Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga played their first match for their new club in front of supporters. Bukayo Saka scored the only goal of the match with a close-range finish from Jakub Kiwior's excellent curled cross. The Gunners dominated for the majority of the match, with Ben White and Saka linking up well down Arsenal's right side. Ethan Nwaneri - playing in central midfield - produced two standout moments of skill, one of which resulted in a shot from the edge of the area that went narrowly wide. Manager Mikel Arteta also gave some game time to the two 15-year-olds in the squad - forward Max Dowman and defender Marli Salmon. It was agreed there would be a penalty shoot-out regardless of the result of the match and AC Milan won that 6-5. Zubimendi, Mikel Merino, Dowman, Leandro Trossard and Josh Nichols scored their spot-kicks but Martin Odegaard, Reiss Nelson, Kiwior and Salmon missed theirs. How did Arsenal signings perform? Arsenal have spent £128m so far this summer to bring in Zubimendi, Norgaard and Kepa, as well as Noni Madueke - with Cristhian Mosquera and Viktor Gyokeres expected to follow. Madueke has been given two weeks off to rest after his participation in the Club World Cup with Chelsea, but this was the first time supporters had a look at how Arteta may use his other new signings. Defensive midfielder Norgaard was the only summer signing to start the match and began in his favoured deep-lying midfield role. The Denmark international was solid in his positioning and provided a base to allow his fellow midfielders Declan Rice and Nwaneri to get forward. Zubimendi, a £60m signing from Real Sociedad, came on as a half-time substitute and immediately began to dictate the tempo of Arsenal's play. He has a more expansive passing range than Norgaard and showed some of his repertoire, but in the heat and with numerous changes in personnel, the game lost its flow. Goalkeeper Kepa, signed from Chelsea, was not tested during the 90 minutes but produced an impressive display in the shoot-out as he saved three of Milan's penalties. Arsenal supporters are likely to be excited by so many academy graduates being included on the tour and Myles Lewis-Skelly, fellow 18-year-old Nichols and 15-year-olds Dowman and Salmon finished the game on the pitch together. There has been a lot of excitement around Dowman, with Arteta referencing his talent on a number of occasions last season, and the youngster stepped up to score his penalty in the shoot-out. Allegra Stratton: Can the Lionesses Bring Starmer Luck?
As well as England's women's football team getting through to the finals of the Euros last night, Keir Starmer will also be very pleased to see Narendra Modi step off the plane tonight. This is government as anyone would like it. Alongside a beautiful goal in extra time to send the Lionesses through to the final (the government has announced their manager will get a damehood should they win), the sight of the Indian prime minister arriving tonight will also be a happy one for Starmer. If he chose to, he could squint and just focus on these two things for few days, and all would be well.
