Chandrakant Pandit part ways with Kolkata Knight Riders after two-year stint

IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders on Tuesday (July 29, 2025) announced the departure of head coach Chandrakant Pandit, ending his two-year stint with the team following a disappointing 2025 season. Pandit, who guided KKR to their third IPL title in 2024, oversaw a sharp decline in fortunes this year with the side finishing eighth in the 2025 edition, matching their lowest ever finish in tournament history. "Mr. Chandrakant Pandit has decided to explore new opportunities and will not continue as Head Coach of Kolkata Knight Riders," KKR said in a post shared on 'X'. "We are thankful for his invaluable contributions — including leading KKR to the IPL Championship in 2024 and helping build a strong, resilient squad. His leadership and discipline have left a lasting impact on the team. We wish him all the very best for the future." Pandit, a celebrated figure in Indian domestic cricket, was appointed KKR head coach ahead of the 2023 season. His first year in charge saw the team finish seventh, with regular skipper Shreyas Iyer missing the season due to injury. KKR bounced back in 2024 as Iyer returned to lead the side and franchise legend Gautam Gambhir rejoined the camp as mentor. Under Pandit's stewardship, KKR not only clinched the title but also registered the highest points tally and best net run rate (NRR) in their IPL history. However, the momentum fizzled out in 2025 as a poor run following the mega auction saw KKR win just five of their 14 league matches, crashing out of playoff contention with two games to spare.

'Some Like To Play With Fire': MS Dhoni's Humorous Marriage Advice Wins Internet, Video Viral

Former Indian cricketer MS Dhoni is known for his calmness on the cricket field, but those who have followed him for the last two decades know that he can be a jovial person when around his family and friends. A similar side of Dhoni was on display when he made an appearance at a wedding and raised a toast to the groom and bride, albeit in his own cheeky way. The now-viral video shows Dhoni offering humorous marital advice, which has attracted the internet's interest, with social media users amazed by his comedic timing. The Chennai Super Kings player was attending the wedding of Utkarsh Sanghvi and Dhvani Kanungo, where he took to the stage and shared relatable insights about marriage. "Marriage is a very good thing. You were the one in a hurry to do it. Some people like to play with fire. He's one of them," said Dhoni in Hindi. "Now Utkarsh also has this illusion. My answer is the same as always. Every husband here is in the same boat. It hardly matters whether you've won a World Cup or not. If your husband is angry, don't say anything in that moment. We cool down in 5 minutes. We know our power," he added. Concluding his message, Dhoni said: "Actually, these jokes - men laugh more. I don't know why. All the very best and congratulations." While stepping down the stage, the crowd, akin to any stadium across the world, started chanting "Dhoni! Dhoni!". Manoj Tiwary Against India-Pakistan Match In 2025 Asia Cup: 'How Can We...'

Last Updated: Former cricketer Manoj Tiwary opposes the India-Pakistan match in the 2025 Asia Cup due to recent terrorist attacks. The tournament runs in UAE from September 9-28. On Tuesday, former cricketer Manoj Tiwary expressed his opposition to the scheduled India-Pakistan match in the 2025 Asia Cup, which begins in September. His comments followed the announcement by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) that the Men's Asia Cup 2025 will be held in the United Arab Emirates from September 9 to 28, with the highly anticipated India-Pakistan match set for September 14. Speaking to ANI, Tiwary said, 'I am against it. The India-Pakistan match should not be held. Especially after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in which civilians have been killed. After that, Operation Sindoor has taken place." Group A in the Asia Cup includes India, Pakistan, UAE, and Oman, while Group B comprises Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong. Tiwary believes the India-Pakistan match shouldn't occur in such circumstances. 'The situation was so bad, how can we think of an India-Pakistan match? I feel that it should be reconsidered and the India-Pakistan match should not happen in such an environment," he told ANI. Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued a stern warning to Pakistan from the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, stating that if they dare to act against India, they will receive a fitting response, as India's Operation Sindoor is still ongoing. Regarding this, Tiwary commented on PM Modi's statement, noting that since Operation Sindoor is still underway, scheduling a match against Pakistan seems illogical. 'Our Prime Minister is saying that Operation Sindoor is still going on… How can we play a match with Pakistan?" Tiwary asked. Meanwhile, the tournament opener between Afghanistan and Hong Kong is set for September 9. India will begin their campaign against UAE on September 10, with the high-voltage game against Pakistan scheduled for September 14. India will play their final group stage match against Oman on September 19. Following the group stage, the tournament will advance to the Super 4, where the top two teams from each group will qualify. The final is scheduled for September 28. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive.
