Glasgow has a new Scottie dog trail - here's all you need to know
At the end of the eight-week project, which was officially launched at the Trades Hall in Glasgow on Wednesday (June 18), the artworks will be auctioned off to raise money for Maggie's, who help families going through cancer treatment.

Hayley Smith, project manager for Scotties in the City at Maggie's, said: 'We hope this fun art trail, in partnership with Wild in Art, will play a key role in boosting the city's social, cultural and economic development and draw in visitors to experience the charm of our city.
'People travel far and wide to see art trails like this and many famous faces – such as Lorraine Kelly and Judy Murray - have bought sculptures from Wild in Art charity auctions in the past.'
At the launch, which showcased Glasgow artist Douglas Roulston's sculpture Lochie, the charity put a call out for artists and sponsors to get on board.
She added: 'Today's launch is a call out for businesses to get involved in sponsoring a giant Scottie sculpture, and a call out for artists to take part.'
An educational programme will run alongside the project. Sixty schools can also apply for their own small Scottie, complete with resources and lessons pack, which they can design and decorate.
The smaller sculptures will also form part of the art trail and be returned to the schools at the end.

Douglas said: 'I am honoured to introduce Lochie, the first big Scottie on the Glasgow trail for Maggie's.
'My artwork is inspired by the dramatic beauty of the Highlands and Islands. I have painted the beautiful landscape of Loch Lomond with Ben Lomond, the golf course, the loch itself and a few signature trees.
'Hidden on Lochie's chest is a heart shaped by the trees – a quiet reminder of strength, love and compassion which also sum up Maggie's and the great work they do in supporting families going through cancer.'
Charlie Langhorne, managing director of Wild in Art, added: 'We are thrilled to be working with our friends and partners at Maggies on our first standalone trail in Glasgow.
'We are confident that our Wild in Art Scottie dogs will bring joy to both residents and tourists as they discover the trail and explore the city, and raise awareness and vital funds to support the invaluable work that Maggie's does to help people with cancer and their families.'

He's offered a glimpse into their current arrangements after paying homage to Maggie over the weekend. Eamonn and Ruth, both 65, revealed last year that they had chosen to part ways after 14 years of marriage. The ex-couple, who share a son, were subsequently reported to be embroiled in a custody battle over their beloved pooch Maggie, whom they had welcomed into their family in 2011. Following his recent post about Maggie, Eamonn returned to Instagram with a fresh update. It featured him praising Ruth, who frequently shares posts about walking Maggie, and hinted at his future plans. Eamonn informed his followers that Maggie would appear in the Times this week. He penned: "So much interest and Love for Maggie following yesterday's post to the extent that she is going to star in @thetimes on line from tomorrow and this week's Sunday Times." In many ways she reminds me of my dearly departed Mum - a really bad knee and hardly any teeth left but not bad for a 17 year old!" reports the Mirror. Bye from Maggie and Me." The journalist, who used Randy Newman's song You've Got A Friend in Me from Toy Story (1995) in his post, had previously posted about Maggie. Alongside photos, he said in his earlier post: "17 years apart ... and we r both still going - JUST. Maggie and Me #dogstrust #adoptdontshop." He mentioned his ex Ruth Langsford, with whom he had adopted Maggie, in the post Following their separation, Eamonn and Ruth were reportedly having "difficult conversations" about where Maggie would reside. There were even rumours of a custody dispute over the dog between the former couple. However, it was suggested in May last year that Maggie was likely to primarily stay with Loose Women panelist Ruth. A source told the Sun at the time that Maggie is "like a daughter" to the exes, who were both said to "dote" on her. They added that the thought of "giving her up" was "heartbreaking" for GB News presenter Eamonn. A source revealed that Eamonn "adores" the dog, but hinted at the possibility of the pet going to his ex. They stated last year: "But if Ruth is able to get out and about and walk her more, then it may well be that she gets Maggie in the split."

Scottish TikToker to do 'biggest challenge yet' after meeting hero
Kieran Taylor will embark on a 56-mile-long cycle next month to raise funds for Maggie's, a cancer charity, despite never having ridden on the roads before. The 25-year-old from Airdrie is taking part in the Tour de 4 and revealed that his motivation to complete the cycling challenge was sparked when he met Sir Chris Hoy earlier this year. Kieran training for the event (Image: Kieran Taylor) Kieran commented: 'I met him in March at 'An Evening with Sir Chris Hoy' in Glasgow. I told him he inspired me to start my sports journey, and he was very interested in what I was doing. 'Throughout the evening he was talking about the Tour de 4 and I just thought 'I'll do it'. There are four different routes, and me, being a guy up for a challenge, I said I was going to take on the toughest one of them all, the 56-mile-long ride. 'It's amazing, he's managed to organise an event to change perceptions around cancer. To cycle with the guy I look up to, who inspired me to do sport in the first place, is awesome. 'He's a hero. I want to put 110 per cent into this. The pain I will experience in the weeks before and after the challenge is nothing compared to what anyone with cancer is going through.' READ NEXT: Still Game legend revealed thoughts on film rumours The Tour de 4 is a cycling event created by Sir Chris Hoy following his diagnosis with Stage 4 prostate cancer in September 2023. It is being held to show that whilst devastating, a Stage 4 diagnosis 'doesn't define the limits of what's possible'. There are four different rides that participants can take part in. The red ride – which Kieran is undertaking – spanning 56 miles, the blue ride totalling just under 38 miles, the green ride which is a family route of one kilometre, and the yellow ride which is completed on static bikes. Kieran explained that not only is he excited to be riding alongside his hero, but he is looking forward to raising awareness of the work carried out by Maggie's. Kieran told the Glasgow Times that Maggie's supported him through a difficult time, and he has now launched a GoFundMe page to raise funds to support them. It has so far raised £95. Kieran added: 'A lot of my family members have had cancer over the years. Maggie's helped me with a lot of that. 'They are a well-known charity, but I don't think everyone understands what they actually do. People might not know how far their support goes; it's incredible. 'They provide counselling, massages, a café which lets patients socialise, and they do stuff for people like me who have additional support needs. 'I've done plenty of sponsored walks, runs, and half marathons, but this is the biggest fight I've had to put my body through mentally and physically.' READ NEXT: Moment tank speeds toward bus on Glasgow Spider-Man film set Kieran has been training for the event during his summer break from university, where he is studying in the hopes of becoming a physiotherapist. Over the past few weeks, he says he has upped his training and has been scouting out the route in preparation. Parts of his journey have been documented on his TikTok account. He said: 'My training started very light with me going to the gym. The staff have been helping me make sure I can get the best time possible. 'I've upped my training to do some running, and I'm going out to do a scout of the route so I can get a good idea of the braking points and gear changes. 'I've never done road cycling before. I'm not a cyclist, so this is the first time I will be out on the road. "My motivation is Sir Chris Hoy.' To view Kieran's GoFundMe page, visit HERE.
