Kingdom FIRST Review: Anirudh Ravichander Calls Vijay Deverakonda's Action Thriller ‘Superb'
Last Updated:
Anirudh Ravichander gives an early thumbs-up to Vijay Deverakonda's much-awaited film Kingdom, calling it 'very nice' and 'superb.'
The buzz around Kingdom, starring Vijay Deverakonda and Bhagyashri Borse, continues to intensify as the film gears up for its highly-anticipated July 4 release. Originally slated for May 30, the film's launch was postponed to accommodate final touches and strategic promotional rollouts. But if early reactions are anything to go by, the wait might just be worth it.
Acclaimed music composer Anirudh Ravichander, who got a sneak peek of the complete film, gave it a resounding thumbs-up. 'I watched the film. It's very nice. Superb," he shared, keeping his reaction crisp yet impactful. Coming from one of the most influential names in the industry, his words have only fueled anticipation further.
Directed by Jersey filmmaker Gowtam Tinnanuri, Kingdom promises to showcase Vijay Deverakonda like never before. The actor takes on a high-octane, action-heavy role that he has physically and stylistically prepped for over months, donning a rugged, intense avatar. Yet the film doesn't solely rely on action; it weaves in a compelling emotional thread, including a romantic arc featuring the fresh pairing of Vijay and Bhagyashri Borse—a dynamic fans are eager to witness unfold on screen.
Adding to the film's intrigue is the unique remuneration model for its leading man. In a conversation with Galatta Plus, producer Naga Vamsi revealed that Vijay accepted only a nominal token amount to greenlight the project, opting instead for a profit-sharing model post box office recovery. The move reflects the actor's confidence in the film's performance and signals his long-term vision as a stakeholder in quality cinema.
Kingdom is just one among a series of highly promising projects for Vijay Deverakonda. Also in the pipeline is VD14, helmed by Shyam Singha Roy director Rahul Sankrityan, with Rashmika Mandanna rumored to play the lead. Meanwhile, SVC59, which marks Vijay's maiden collaboration with director Ravi Kiran Kola, is expected to go on floors later this year.
With Kingdom, Vijay is not just returning to the big screen—he's returning with force, flair, and a fiery script that might just redefine his action-hero image.

Aamir Khan replaced Amole Gupte as Taare Zameen Par director after 2 days of shoot, says Darsheel Safary: ‘Forget who is the director'
Bollywood actor Aamir Khan was tagged a 'perfectionist' early in his career, but the label also invited criticism — with many accusing him of 'ghost directing' films and sidelining directors. While Aamir denied such claims in an interview with Galatta Plus, Darsheel Safary recently shared that Aamir, in fact, took over the direction of Taare Zameen Par from the film's original writer and creative director, Amole Gupte. In a recent interaction with Vickey Lalwani, Darsheel Safary recalled how Aamir completely reshot a scene in Taare Zameen Par, despite Amole Gupte being present on the set. He said, 'He told us forget everything that we just shot. I am going to direct it. Amole sir is right here and he is going to be on the set as a creative director. It is his film, I will make it, we all will make it together. Forget who is the director.' Darsheel also shared that Amole shot for the film for just 2-3 days before Aamir took over the director's chair. When asked how the transition was for him, Darsheel said, 'I was scared of Aamir sir. Amole sir and I were actually friends. He had spotted me at Shiamak Davar's classes.' He added, 'Amole sir and I had great friendship. His son and I are also good friends. We have done a lot of masti together.' Darsheel also admitted to Aamir giving inputs to Amole while shooting the film. 'I remember them talking about what works and what not. I remember very clearly him (Aamir) giving inputs.' Defending himself, Aamir said in the interview with Galatta Plus, 'A lot of times people would assume that I am ghost directing. They would assume that when these directors didn't work with me and their films were flops and it happened so many times with me that it became like 'it can't be a coincidence'. It was infuriating to convince people that I am not directing these films, it is these directors who are directing it.' The spiritual sequel of Taare Zameen Par — Sitaare Zameen Par — will be released on June 20. While Aamir played a teacher in the previous film, Sitaare Zameen Par will see him play the role of a basketball coach.

Sree Vishu's Single is now on OTT: When and where to watch the Telugu entertainer
Watch out for this Telugu drama, Single, on OTT now. If you're looking for a breezy rom-com with a twist of chaos, misadventures, and unexpected love triangles, Single might just be your perfect weekend watch. After a successful theatrical run, the film has now made its digital debut on Amazon Prime Video, and what sets this release apart is its pan-Indian appeal—available in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. Directed by Caarthick Raju, Single mixes charm, confusion, and comedy in a delightfully modern take on the timeless search for love. At the heart of Single is Vijay, a bank employee played by Sree Vishnu, who is desperate to end his bachelor status. When he lays eyes on Purva (Ketika Sharma), it's love at first sight. But instead of just striking up a conversation, Vijay goes the extra (and hilariously risky) mile by staging a fake rescue mission at a metro station to impress her. His plan, involving hired rowdies, is supposed to paint him as a heroic saviour, but things take a turn when Harini (Ivana), an unsuspecting onlooker, falls for him instead. What follows is a classic yet quirky love triangle, with Vijay trying to pursue Purva while simultaneously navigating Harini's growing affection. Adding to the chaos is Vennela Kishore as Aravind, Vijay's childhood friend, who brings comic relief with his trademark wit. The film also boasts memorable cameos from Reba Monica John, Narne Nithin, and Maanasa Choudhary, while seasoned actors like VTV Ganesh and Kalpalatha lend a solid presence to the supporting actor has films like Mrithyu'n'jay, Vishnu Vinyasam and a tentatively named film title- SV20, in the pipeline.
