Carles Gil got New England on the board in the 80th minute, firing a right-footer from outside the box.
The win leaves Inter Miami fifth in the Eastern Conference, with games in hand on the sides above them following their Club World Cup exploits.
Messi also scored twice against Montreal last week in his club's first outing after their exit from the Club World Cup.

Enzo Fernandez's partner leads Chelsea WAGs in flocking to the US to cheer on their partners in Club World Cup final as they take in the New York sights before kick off
Chelsea WAGs have descended on New York as their partners prepare for this evening's Club World Cup final. The Blues jetted off to the USA last month to take part in the inaugural edition of FIFA's premier club tournament since it was revamped to include 32 teams. Since then, Enzo Maresca 's side have progressed through the group stages and subsequently defeated the likes of Benfica, Palmeiras and Fluminense to book their place in the final. Their opponents at the MetLife Stadium on Sunday are a PSG side awash with confidence after entering the tournament just one month after being crowned Champions League winners for the first time in their history. Luis Enrique's side have been utterly dominant throughout the Club World Cup, and have conceded just once in their run to the final. Ahead of the landmark clash, a number of Chelsea stars have been joined by their partners as they have taken in the sights and enjoyed some precious downtime between games in the United States. It is understood that many of the group flew out once Chelsea reached the knockout stages as the club held a team bonding BBQ at their Miami base. Since then, a number of the WAGs, including Enzo Fernandez's girlfriend Valentina Cervantes have remained with the group as they moved on to New York to prepare for Sunday's final. On Saturday Cervantes shared a snap of herself watching a Blues training session as Maresca put his finishing touches on the game plan for the clash with Les Parisiens. Meanwhile, the partners of Pedro Neto, Marc Cucurella and Filip Jorgensen took to the streets of the Big Apple to do some sightseeing. Neto's girlfriend, Carolina Cunha e Silva, even donned a baseball jersey adorned with the Portuguese foward's name as the Blues defeated Fluminense. Cole Palmer also took in some of the famous sights, with the England international pictured in full Blues kit atop the famous Rockefeller Center in Midtown Manhattan. Reports suggest that Maresca has offered his players a high degree of freedom throughout the competition. Maintaining professionalism has remained an imperative, but the players have been entrusted to enjoy some downtime following an arduous campaign. In addition, the club are said to have brought in FA staff to organise the team's camp including accommodation and activities for the players' families. Meanwhile Cole Palmer ascended the city's iconic Rockefeller Center for a photoshoot Speaking ahead of the clash with PSG, Maresca revealed he intends on treating the upcoming fixture 'like a chess match' and called Luis Enrique's side, 'the best team in the world'. 'I love to play chess and watch chess,' Maresca explained. 'I feel football is like a game of chess and when the rival makes a move, you have to counteract it and I think this will be like a chess game. 'They [PSG] are a top team in Europe and the world, maybe the best in the world, but every game is different and we will try to do a good game. 'For sure it will be difficult, but all games are difficult. Fluminense beat Inter and they reached the Champions League final; Al Hilal beat Manchester City. 'Botafogo beat PSG in this competition and did a very good job, but our style is different to Botafogo. 'PSG is best team in world and they have showed that in this tournament, showed it in France and in the Champions League. Of course it'll be a difficult game for us, but we are preparing ourselves in best way possible.

Stunning DAZN Club World Cup host accused of 'unprofessional outfit' - just days after her colleague criticised her 'vulgar, sexy' touchline clothing
Italian DAZN presenter Eleonora Incardona has been accused of wearing an 'unprofessional outfit' during her coverage of the Club World Cup. Recently, fellow football presenter Valentina Maceri, 31 - who presents Champions League coverage for Swiss broadcaster Blue - launched a personal attack on Incardona for her choices of clothing. She said of the Italian presenter's bold selection of outfits: 'Incardona mainly presents the betting odds. And she does it very sexy. Sometimes vulgarly.' Now, Munich-based fashion expert and stylist Sonja Grau has delivered a blunt verdict on Incardona's recent outfit - a skimpy, figure-hugging black dress. Grau did not hold back, labelling the presenter's outfit a no-go for the professional sports stage. 'It doesn't make a serious impression,' Grau told Bild. 'This is perfectly acceptable in leisure time, depending on the situation - for example, at the beach or a lake. Incardona has gained traction for the outfits she's worn while presenting the Club World Cup 'But Ms. Incardona was in the business world, and that's not professional in any way and has nothing to do with style. 'Bare midriffs and that low neckline don't belong in the office either. It's fine in her free time, but everyone has to decide for themselves what they want to score with.' Incardona, 34, alongside Giusy Meloni, 26, Diletta Leotta, 33 - who is the wife of former Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius - and Maria Luisa Jacobelli, 33, have become recognisable names around the world thanks to their coverage of the Club World Cup for DAZN's Italian arm. Incardona has gone viral throughout the tournament for her choice of outfits but did receive backlash for what she wore as she presented DAZN's coverage of Bayern Munich versus PSG. She shared numerous striking poses in a striped cream suit that was complete with a matching bra in a social media post as she wrote: 'Bye bye Orlando. Heading to New York City'. But several fans were critical of Incardona and claimed her outfit was inappropriate. Meanwhile, the original criticism Incardona faced comes after Maceri has recently released a book entitled 'F*** Female Empowerment: The Great Mistake of Modern Feminism'. In the book, she states: 'Personally, I would say that the way female reporters present themselves on the sidelines in Italy is sometimes borderline.' Incardona will next appear on DAZN to cover Sunday's Club World Cup final between Chelsea and PSG Incardona pictured pitchside ahead of Juventus' Club World Cup group stage game against Man City last month Then, in a fresh interview, she launched another attack on various female presenters, including the 34-year-old, for their choice of attire. She said the Italian DAZN quartet's outfits, which have generated traction online, demonstrated little professionalism and that they 'lack style and class'. Incardona's next outing will be at Sunday's Club World Cup final, when PSG face off against Chelsea.

Arsenal 'moaner' offered exit option but transfer depends on Liverpool decision
German giants Bayern Munich are considering a move for Arsenal forward Leandro Trossard, but only if their pursuit of Liverpool star Luis Diaz proves unsuccessful Arsenal star Leandro Trossard has emerged as a target for Bayern Munich, who are keen to strengthen their forward line this summer. Leroy Sane, Mathys Tel and Thomas Muller have all left the club, while Jamal Musiala is set to miss the majority of next season after breaking his leg at the Club World Cup. Bayern were linked with a move for Nico Williams, but the Spain star has signed a new 10-year contract with Athletic Bilbao that includes a release clause worth around £75million. And it now appears as though a move for Trossard could be on the cards. Trossard is being lined up as a potential alternative to Liverpool star Luis Diaz, according to a report from Bild. Bayern, it's claimed have lodged a £45m offer for Diaz, but Liverpool do not want to sell and especially not at that price. Bayern are among a number of clubs weighing up a move for Trossard, with talks over a new deal at Arsenal having stalled as a result. Trossard recently appointed Dirk Hebel as his agent and it is noted that he has an existing relationship with Bayern's sporting director Max Eberl. Trossard has spent three seasons at Arsenal, scoring 28 goals and producing 23 assists in 124 appearances across all competitions, and Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is a big fan of the Belgian international. Speaking last year, Arteta hailed Trossard's competitive streak and "capacity to do something special" after jokingly branding him a "moaner". Arteta said: "Yeah, Leo is naturally a bit of a moaner but I like that because he's very competitive and you have training sessions, he's always busy with the referee's decision, because he wants to win. "That's what I love. He always wants to be the best and when he's not there, he's not happy. But that's what pushes him. That's where he comes in on the pitch, he can make an impact because he's got that drive, that anger which says: 'I'm gonna show you.' "I love that about him. He's a really good character. They all want to play. Always want to play. Leo has shown a lot more consistency in the last 12 months, he's deserved that. "He's had a lot of competition in his position. That's it. Raise the level. If he plays at that level then he will play like anyone else. He has the capacity to do something special in the final third. "He's played and with us he's played as a left winger, as an attacking midfielder, he's played as a nine and he's a player that I value a lot, we value a lot, because he's very versatile and very competitive and he's a massive goal threat for the team. Really happy with him." Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content.
