In another brazen example of its open support to terrorism, the Pakistan government may reportedly pay a sum of Rs 14 crore to Masood Azhar– the founder and chief of the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror group and one of the most wanted terrorists in India– as compensation for the deaths of his family members killed in Indian missile strikes under Operation Sindoor earlier this month.
According to reports, the Pakistani government has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 1 crore for the families of those killed in Operation Sindoor, and it seems Masood Azhar will be the biggest beneficiary of this scheme as 10 of his family members, including his brother Abdul Rauf Azhar, and four of his close aides, were neutralized in the Indian airstrikes.
Thus, Masood Azhar is reportedly bound to receive Rs 14 crore in compensation from the Pakistan government, as per reports. Masood Azhar's family, aides killed in Operation Sindoor
On May 7 midnight, Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor, a series of deadly, precision missile strikes on terror infrastructures deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). One of the nine locations targeted by India was the headquarters of Jaish-e-Mohammed, the Jamia Masjid Subhan Allah, in Bahawalpur, in which as many as 10 family members of Masood Azhar, and four of his close aides, were reportedly killed.
Its is believed that Masood's younger brother, Abdul Rauf Azhar, and two of his brothers-in-law, were killed in the strikes.
Abdul Rauf Azhar, a most-wanted terrorist in India, is widely considered to have masterminded the 1999 hijack of Indian Airlines flight IC 814 in Kandahar, and is also believed to have played a major role in planning and orchestrating the 2001 Parliament attack, and the Pathankot air base terror strike.
Following the strikes, in a statement attributed to Masood Azhar, the dreaded terrorist displayed complete fanaticism, asserting that those killed, including five children, had been 'martyred' in Allah's path and will now rest in paradise.
Its believed that being the legal heir of his family, as well as the four close aides killed in the Indian strikes, Masood Azhar is likely to receive all the compensation on their behalf, which amounts to Rs 14 crore.

Kerala govt moves environment day celebration out of Raj Bhavan as row breaks out over Bharat Mata's photo
Two weeks after a row over Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ideologue S Gurumurthy's talk on Operation Sindoor at the Kerala Raj Bhavan, another political storm is now brewing in the state – this one over a photo of Bharat Mata. The Kerala Agriculture Department Thursday changed the venue of its world environment day celebrations from Raj Bhavan claiming that the photo of Bharat Mata on display there is 'one used by the RSS'. This is the first time that the Communist Party of India (Marxist)-led Kerala government has openly expressed its displeasure with the Raj Bhavan after the current governor, Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, assumed office early this year. The agriculture department had planned the state-level inauguration of the environmental day celebration at Raj Bhavan with the governor as the chief guest. Officials of the agriculture department, who reviewed the preparations of the function at the central hall of the Raj Bhavan, noticed that the picture of the Bharat Mata to be used at the venue was similar to the one generally used by the Sangh Parivar and subsequently, they took up the matter with CPI leader and agriculture minister P Prasad, who took strong exception to the picture. As a result, the department conducted its own function at the darbar hall of the state secretariat. Prasad told the media that the government had planned the event at Raj Bhavan but changed its venue after an impasse with the Governor over the photo. 'The picture of Bharat Mata displayed at the venue (central hall of the Raj Bhavan) is one that is used by RSS. A seat of a constitutional body should not use that. Constitutionally, it is not proper to use that picture at a government function. The Governor insisted on using that picture itself, but we could not agree with that decision. So, the government function was shifted out of Raj Bhavan,' he said. But sources at the Raj Bhavan said the minister could not dictate what should be or should not be used at the Raj Bhavan. He also said the programme went ahead as planned at the Raj Bhavan and 'was attended by the Governor and officials'. 'When a function is being held at Raj Bhavan, the minister cannot dictate what should be used and what should not be used. The minister has no right to say which picture of Bharat Mata should be used,' one source said. This comes two weeks after the Raj Bhavan's talk by Gurumurthy on 'Operation Sindoor: Paradigm shift from candle light to Brahmos', drew criticism from the Opposition Congress, which objected to 'the Raj Bhavan being converted into the RSS headquarters'. The party reacted similarly to the latest development, with Opposition Leader V D Satheesan saying it 'was not proper' to use that picture of Bharat Mata at Raj Bhavan. 'Weeks ago, the RSS ideologue Gurumurthy was brought to Raj Bhavan for a talk and he spoke insulting former prime ministers. Why is chief minister Vijayan silent on it? He is afraid of speaking about the Governor. Raj Bhavan is a constitutional body and it should not be made a venue for such political programmes,' he said.

Putin, Trump discuss India-Pakistan ties: Trump claimed he stopped conflict; Kremlin silent on details
Putin Trump discussion A recent phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump touched upon an unexpected flashpoint: the recent India-Pakistan conflict, a Kremlin aide said on Wednesday. According to Yury Ushakov, a senior advisor to Putin, the conflict was "stopped with the personal participation of President Trump. " 'They also touched upon the Middle East and the armed conflict between India and Pakistan, which was stopped with the personal participation of President Trump,' Ushakov said, as reported by Russia's state-run TASS news agency. However, Ushakov offered no details of Trump's involvement or timing. Trump claims credit, India cites military diplomacy Trump has in the past taken credit for de-escalating South Asia tensions, particularly during his presidency. However, India has consistently maintained that the cessation of hostilities was the result of direct military dialogue. Officials confirmed that the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both nations coordinated the ceasefire following cross-border exchanges in early May. The recent skirmish began after a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, prompting India to carry out precision strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7. Pakistan responded with aerial aggression over the next three days, targeting Indian military bases, but was met with strong retaliation. A mutual understanding to halt operations was reportedly reached on May 10 via DGMO-level talks. Pakistan seeks Putin's help, India gets diplomatic backing In a parallel development, Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif sent a letter to President Putin seeking Russia's involvement in diffusing tensions. The letter was delivered by Sharif's aide Syed Tariq Fatemi during a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow on Tuesday. "We are ready to sit down with them at the negotiating table," Fatemi said, expressing Islamabad's desire for Russian-led diplomacy. But India has been busy building a contrasting narrative in Moscow. Days before Fatemi's visit, a multi-party Indian parliamentary delegation led by DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi received 'solid Russian support' for India's zero-tolerance policy against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, sources said. The rare moment of diplomatic shadowboxing in Moscow underlines the lingering mistrust between India and Pakistan, and the global interest in containing a regional crisis with nuclear stakes.

Kerala Minister boycotts Raj Bhavan environment day celebrations over 'Bharat Mata' picture
Thiruvananthapuram: A controversy broke out on Thursday after Kerala Agriculture Minister P. Prasad boycotted the state-level celebrations on World Environment Day at the Raj Bhavan -- the official residence of the state Governor, Rajendra V. Arlekar. The reason was that the Minister did not want the picture of the Bharat Mata, commonly used by the RSS, to be placed on the central dais. Prasad told the media that the programme was decided after speaking to the Governor. 'Last night, a change was made, and this was not acceptable to the state government. The picture was not the regular Bharat Mata picture which we use, but at Raj Bhavan, it was the one that is used by the RSS. It is not right to keep such pictures, and the Governor said it cannot be changed, and hence the state government decided not to take part in the function at the Raj Bhavan,' said Prasad. 'This is an unconstitutional thing. It is only after this Governor took over that there have been such changes. We have the highest regard and respect towards the normal Bharat Mata picture, but not the one used by the RSS,' added Prasad. Incidentally, on Tuesday evening, officials from the concerned Minister's office were at the Raj Bhavan for an inspection of the Central Hall where the picture of Bharat Mata was kept. Later, the officials who visited the Raj Bhavan informed the Minister about the picture. Following this, the Minister spoke to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, and later, the decision was taken that Prasad would not attend the meeting. The Minister called Raj Bhavan and informed that he would not be able to attend the function if the picture was not removed. But Arlekar stood his ground and pointed out that the picture would not be removed. Afterwards, the state government decided to hold a function in the Durbar Hall of the State Secretariat to mark the World Environment Day celebrations. The Chief Secretary was directed to organise a separate event. Consequent to this, on Thursday, there were two different state-level functions -- one chaired by Arlekar at the Raj Bhavan and the other in the Durbar Hall with Prasad presiding over. Prasad, a first-time legislator, is a member of the CPI. Former Minister and CPI state secretary Binoy Viswan said this was unacceptable, as that picture could not be put up at a state function. Incidentally, last month, Arlekar had invited prominent RSS ideologue S. Gurumurthy for a talk after the successful Operation Sindoor, and CM Vijayan had said that it was wrong to convert the Raj Bhavan into a place for the RSS.
