NFL executive makes very bold prediction about the 2025 Panthers

USA Today6 hours ago

The Carolina Panthers haven't had one of the NFL's better offenses in quite some time, and they haven't been legitimate playoff contenders for even longer. But that might all change here in 2025.
On Tuesday's episode of The Insiders, NFL Network reporter Cameron Wolfe brought up a conversation he had with a league executive earlier this offseason. He asked the exec to give him one big surprise for the upcoming campaign, and he provided Wolfe with an interesting prediction about the Panthers.
"He said the Panthers are gonna make a playoff push and be a top-10 offense," Wolfe stated. "And he said just look at the way they surrounded Bryce Young with weapons. When he first got into the league two years ago, he didn't have the offensive line. He was running for his life. He's now got two of the best guards in the league in Robert Hunt, Damien Lewis—guys they've spent money on in free agency, and they have created that running game where all the pressure is not on Bryce Young.
"Chuba Hubbard rushed for 1,000 yards last year. They brought in Rico Dowdle from the Cowboys who had 1,000 yards there as well. All of those guys are gonna be able to run the ball, which they did really well over the second half of the year. And then you got Tetairoa McMillan, who they drafted in the first round to put with Xavier Legette—two big talented playmakers down the field.
"Bryce Young has showed that confidence in the last month of the season that they believe he is their quarterback. And now they have, with him, the right weapons to succeed. I think Bryce Young is headed to the best season of his career this year."
Carolina hasn't finished in the top 10 in total yards since 2018, when they ranked 10th. We have to go back even further, to 2015, to find a top-10 finish for them in points (first).
The production has been especially grim in recent seasons. The Panthers were 29th in total offense in 2024, 32nd in 2023, 29th in 2022 and 30th in 2021.
Those marks, however, are primed to rise—just as their quarterback did to finish his eventful sophomore campaign. Over the final 10 games, Young totaled 2,327 yards, 20 touchdowns and six interceptions while leading Carolina to a 4-6 mark.
And now, after a strong offseason, Young and the Panthers are in a position to pounce up the ranks.

Cam Newton Shares ‘Critical' Take on Shedeur Sanders Speeding Violation

Cam Newton Shares 'Critical' Take on Shedeur Sanders Speeding Violation originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders got into legal trouble for driving well over the speed limit twice this month. Advertisement Sanders, 23, was pulled over and given his first speeding citation on June 5 in Brunswick Hills, Ohio, for driving 91 mph in a 65 mph zone. He faces $269 in fines and court costs for failing to appear for an arraignment on June 16, according to an ESPN report from June 19. Sanders was pulled over a second time by an officer at 12:24 a.m. ET on June 17 for driving 101 mph in a 60 mph zone. He faces $250 for the second encounter, which has made a former NFL player not very pleased with his actions. 'I've been extremely critical of Shedeur, and it's not because I don't like Shedeur, it's because I want you to succeed,' former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton said during a recent episode of '4th&1 With Cam Newton.' 'And everything that I've ever been critical of Shedeur is because I did it.' 'Driving 100, I've done it. Even though I'm using Shedeur's name, I'm speaking to the masses. Driving 101 is extremely dangerous.' Newton's remarks come as he and Sanders have a notable relationship. Furthermore, Sanders has received a fair amount of constructive criticism from Newton because he has emphasized to the Browns' quarterback that he needs to focus on being responsible and professional to become an NFL franchise's starting quarterback. Advertisement 'It makes no difference because when that vehicle swerves out of the way or loses control, swerving, it's over for you,' Newton added. 'If you can't pay your way when you are trying to negotiate with the grim reaper.' Former NFL quarterback Cam NewtonKirby Lee-Imagn Images Newton is regarded as an outspoken and vocal individual, so his comments on Sanders aren't surprising to many. 'I know what it's like to have nothing and be booed or feel like you're bulletproof and for something to happen and penetrate you, it's like feeling heartbroken and disappointed,' Newton concluded.
