Downpours and storms could dump a lot of rain

Yahoo12 hours ago

(WJW) — Another round of showers and storms will move in this afternoon, especially south and east. Scattered rain and a few thunderstorms will favor areas east of Interstate 77 during the afternoon and evening on Friday. There will still be some dry breaks with temperatures in the mid-70s.
TRACKING: Showers and storms. Here's a look at LIVE radar.
These are going to be slow-moving downpours and thunderstorms. Any downpours or storms that develop will not be in hurry to move and could dump quite a bit of rain in one spot. This could lead to a flooding threat.
Expected rainfall totals:
The chance of rain will go down for the start of the weekend. Unfortunately, this weekend may not be completely rain-free. A few rain showers could develop on Sunday as an area of low pressure moves through the Ohio River Valley.
Highs on Saturday and Sunday will be in 70s. There will be a drop in the humidity this weekend.
The start of next week will not be much warmer. High temperatures next week will generally be about 5 degrees below normal.

CI Road Trip: Tremont Turkey Festival

TREMONT, Ill. (WMBD) — Chief Meteorologist Chris Yates was in Tremont on Friday for our CI Road Trip. Chris was visiting the Tremont Turkey Festival and was enjoying the food, including the strawberry shortcake. He said he is also looking forward to having a turkey leg. This is the festival's 59th year, with the theme 'Gobble and Groove' honoring the festival's history of live music. Chris talked to Miss Tremont, Ava Proehl, who said her favorite thing about the festival is the community and the businesses. 'I think it's amazing to promote small businesses and look at all the knick-knacky, small things that vendors sell,' Proehl said. The festival will run from June 6 to 8. More information on the festival is available here. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

Storms move in tonight, drying out tomorrow afternoon

Storms late tonight Clearing out tomorrow Weekend warmup ahead Clouds increase throughout the evening as rain chances ramp up with some isolated showers and storms expected to develop throughout the early morning. Most of the rain looks to mainly impact those along and south of I-70. These storms are expected to remain non-severe as they pass through. Saturday will start off wet, but we'll dry out by the afternoon as cloud cover and rain chances decrease as the day goes on. Temperatures will still remain below average, but sightly warmer in spots than the past few days. Temperatures will rebound into the low 80s towards the end of the weekend, putting us near average for early June. Looking ahead, next week brings a stretch of dry and sunny weather.
