TUESDAY NIGHT: Mainly clear with a full 'strawberry' moon. A bit warmer. Low: 62.
A warm, mainly sunny, breezy and real summerlike day is on tap Wednesday afternoon with peak highs forecast to reach 90 degrees.
To date, both major airports have only logged one day of 90 degrees or warmer temperature so far and that occurred back in mid-May on the 15th.
A shift in upper-level winds will deliver more of a west/southwest flow pumping in the warm air into Chicago and the Midwest.
There haven't been many days this warm season that would be considered beach worthy, but Wednesday will definitely be a day that will draw a crowd of people as the July-level warmth is expected to reach area beaches.
Sun is strong this time of year, we're only about 10 days from the Summer Solstice, the longest day. It will only take you 21 minutes to get sunburn without proper protection at 1pm, peak time.
More than 289 million residents across the Lower 48 will see temperatures of 80 degrees or warmer and more than 57 million residents topping 90 degrees or warmer. The Lower 48 average of 83.6 degrees is one of the warmest days so far in 2025.

Rain chances return to the forecast, especially Thursday, Friday and Saturday, but it's well worth noting that there will be far more dry hours than wet ones, as is typical in summer. This is not something for which you'll want to cancel plans, but at least be prepared for the possibility of dodging a few showers, perhaps a thunderstorm, at times.
This forecast animation shows how widely scattered rainfall is likely to be across the Chicago area. Heavier rains are likely to fall northwest across portions of Iowa and Minnesota.
Heavy totals in excess of 2-3' is likely across north central Iowa and southern Minnesota, while across the Chicagoland area, totals are likely to underperform, at a half inch or less which is below normal for this time of year.
Following Wednesday's July-level heat, temperatures settle back a bit, especially this weekend when winds will be blowing in off the lake.
Orange and red colors indicate areas of above normal temperatures while blue and purple colors depict the areas of below normal temperatures
Above normal temperatures dominate by and large the rest of the work-week before a notable downturn over the weekend into part of Monday, and before a new round of warmth surges in before the middle of next week.

Hopefully you were able to make the most of the sunshine and warm weather we've experienced the past several days, because today isn't going to be another one. Scattered rain showers this morning will linger through the afternoon and into Friday. Download our KOLR 10 weather app Rain this morning is moving up from the southwest and expanding northeast across the Ozarks. Rain will be light to moderate and become more scattered in the afternoon today. So, not raining all the time, but rain is likely today. Given the slow nature of the storm system, a locally heavy downpour could lead to very localized flooding. The core of the storm will move through Thursday night into Friday. Pockets of heavy rain and embedded thunder will remain possible through the period. There will be just enough instability and wind energy to keep an eye out for an isolated severe weather risk. Locally heavy rain, however, is the main concern. The slow-moving system will move out on Saturday. Rain chances over the weekend, especially Saturday, look much lower with many areas remaining dry. Sunnier skies will also bring early summer heat back to the area. A more summer-like look to the pattern will be taking hold as we move into the following week. We can expect some pop-up showers and thunderstorms most days, but most areas will remain dry. Near normal temperatures with storms continuing
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — Morning skies will be mostly clear with a few clouds. Some patch fog will linger through the midmorning as well, breaking up between 8-9 a.m., once temperatures begin to climb. This morning will start in the upper-60s to near 70 inland and mid-70s at the coast. The first part of the day is trending dry, allowing a few nice hours at the beach or pool. Highs will be near normal in the mid-80s at the coast and near 90 inland. Humidity remains noticeable today and through the weekend. The sea breeze front will push inland throughout the midafternoon, and we will watch for some storms to fire up in response. Storms will be around in general across the Pee Dee as well during the evening commute. The timing of storms is similar to yesterday, between 2 and 8 p.m. Nothing severe is expected for today. Tonight, partly cloudy with temperatures in the low and mid-70s. The trend of normal temperatures and scattered afternoon and evening storms will continue for Friday, with storms more numerous through the weekend and then isolated for early next week. Out in the Atlantic, there is no tropical activity for the next two days. In the East Pacific, Barbara and Cosme are no more. There is an area of interest that has a 90% chance of developing into a likely Tropical Storm Dalila by the end of the weekend. This will be the fourth named storm in the Pacific, which is way ahead of schedule. Warm and humid today with a spotty shower – weekend storm chances increase
COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Good Thursday morning! Another cloudy and humid start to the day with some areas of light fog developing. Temperatures are slightly warmer with readings in the mid to low 70s. Expect readings to only dip a couple degrees as we approach daybreak. Morning clouds are expected to fade quickly this morning while remaining humid and seasonal. Midday readings will already be tipping the mid 80s in spots with highs flirting with 90 degrees again this afternoon and early evening. Only an isolated shower or storm in the forecast today as we're still influenced by southerly flow as the Bermuda high pressure builds to our east. Similar conditions expected for Friday afternoon and nothing noticeable changes in the forecast. For Father's Day Weekend, we are tracking a better chance of shower and storm coverage in the afternoon as we tap more gulf moisture. Temperatures remain seasonal with temperatures near 90.
