Blow for Galway as Burke a major injury concern ahead of All-Ireland quarter-final
Burke is not expected to feature in TUS Gaelic Grounds after it was found his knee injury is worse than was originally feared.
The St Thomas's man hurt his knee minutes prior to the Leinster final and was replaced in the closing stages of the first half of the defeat to Kilkenny. He had damaged it prior to the Round 1 game against The Cats in April.
Speaking about the injury last week, 27-year-old Burke played down its significance.
'I got a small niggle in my knee. I have it, probably have it a few weeks now, and I just kind of hurt it in the warm-up.
'I thought I might run it off, but obviously when you're on a player of the likes of TJ [Reid] and Mossy Keoghan inside, it's hard enough to mark them when you're fully fit. So look I said it was time to go before any more damage was done.'
In 2019, Burke tore his cruciate in the All-Ireland senior club final defeat to Ballyhale Shamrocks. If he is unable to play, Darren Morrissey will be expected to replace him, having come on for him in Croke Park earlier this month.

Tommy Bowe has questioned the decision of a parent to bring their child to a tennis match after the child in question disrupted the players by crying. Bowe told actor Gerard Jordan, who was appearing on the show, that he wouldn't have brought his children to such an event, and in an imagined scenario where a babysitter fell through at the last minute, the ex-rugby star claimed that in that situation he would have simply stayed at home with the children. "As a parent, I would know that it would be too stressful for me to take my child in there to be put in that situation. So I'd decide, no, I don't think it's worth upsetting the other people who are watching it and me being put under the stress of doing it. I'll watch it on the telly," said Bowe. Gerard Jordan is just trying to inspire people to put themselves in someone else's shoes for two seconds but y'all can't even do that." Others have defended Bowe, and have suggested that in a sporting event like tennis where the crowd remains mostly silent, perhaps a young child isn't suited to such an environment. As for the match itself, Sabalenka won in three sets as she continues to build momentum ahead of next month's US Open, where Raducanu will team with Carlos Alcaraz in mixed doubles action.

Sharlene Mawdsley and GAA star boyfriend take big step in relationship
Sharlene Mawdsley appears to be primed to take a huge step in her relationship with her boyfriend, Tipperary hurling hero Mikey Breen. Sharlene and Mikey went public with their relationship earlier this summer, with the Olympian spotted at Croke Park cheering defender Breen on during the Premier County's run to the Liam MacCarthy Cup. Aoife Wafer still absent as Ireland go through paces for Japan World Cup opener
Ireland held their first full training session just outside Northampton today but injured back row Aoife Wafer did not take part. The 22-year-old flanker underwent knee surgery just over a month ago and has all but been ruled out of Ireland's opening two World Cup games, against Japan on Sunday and Spain on Sunday week. There are indications that the Wexford woman, the 2025 Six Nations player of the tournament, may return for the third Pool C game against New Zealand on 7 September. Co-captain Edel McMahon, who missed the two friendly games against Scotland and Canada with a knee injury, trained with the squad at Towcestrians Rugby Club but the back row warmed up separately. Ireland trained just outside Northampton, with Aoife Wafer not among the group.
