Rugby-All Black Lienert-Brown to miss remainder of Super season, Telea banned

(Reuters) - Waikato Chiefs centre Anton Lienert-Brown has been ruled out of the rest of the Super Rugby Pacific season with a collarbone injury while flyhalf Damian McKenzie is also expected to miss Saturday's crunch match against the Wellington Hurricanes.
All Blacks midfielder Lienert-Brown had only just returned from a month out with a leg injury when he suffered the break early in the Chiefs' commanding 56-22 win over Western Force on Friday.
"Footy doesn't always love you back, such is life," the 30-year-old posted on social media.
"Surgery & then a speedy recovery on way."
McKenzie missed the Force match with a hand injury and the All Blacks playmaker is unlikely to return until next week's away game against the Canterbury Crusaders.
"He can catch a ball and he could probably go out there (against the Hurricanes), but this close to the finals we're probably better off to take the precautionary route," coach Clayton McMillan told the Waikato Times.
The Chiefs are top of the table, level on 37 points with the second-placed Crusaders, ahead of the match against the resurgent Hurricanes, who jumped to fifth with an impressive away win over the ACT Brumbies.
With five rounds left in the regular season, the Auckland Blues saw their hopes of reaching the playoffs dealt another blow with a three-match ban for winger Mark Telea.
The All Blacks dynamo was cited for a dangerous tackle on Queensland Reds' outside back Tim Ryan during the defending champions' 35-21 loss in Brisbane at the weekend.
The Blues are ninth ahead of Friday's home match against the Force.

Brown was referring to Ferguson's method of verbal reprimand, which was famously called the ''hairdryer'' treatment. But the 45-year-old Brown said Ferguson was an iconic gaffer, and played a pivotal role in his career as a footballer from Manchester. 'For me, he was like a father figure. He's had so many great players who played before me, and to be in the first team for 12 years under him, he taught me so much. 'Ferguson made you understand what it means to win. It's not just about you, it's about your family, it's about every Manchester United fan. 'Even if you get paid and do the work hard enough, sometimes you can't win everything. So you just go again. 'Ferguson was a great leader to be around,' he said. Johor govt to give track cyclist Shah Firdaus all the support he needs to reach the top
JOHOR BARU: The Johor government is committed to supporting the development and training of national track cycling ace Muhammad Shah Firdaus Sahrom to ensure he brings glory to the state. Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said this includes providing a special allocation to make sure the Muar-born cyclist receives world-class training. "The state government will, insyaAllah, provide an appropriate allocation to make sure he gets the best, including in terms of development and training. "We also pray that he will be the first Malaysian to win an Olympic gold medal," Onn Hafiz said in his speech at the launch of the MADANI Rakyat Programme that was officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Toppen Shopping Centre here today. Also present were Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, the lead minister of the programme; Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar and other state government leaders. Meanwhile, Onn Hafiz said Shah Firdaus is expected to be named as the state's latest Sports Icon, joining an elite group of athletes that includes the likes of national badminton legend Datuk Lee Chong Wei, All Blacks rugby legend Sonny B Williams and former English Premier League footballer Tim Cahill of Everton.
