Matthew Perry Received 27 Shots of Ketamine Before Death, New Doc Claims
The actor was found unresponsive in a hot tub in his Los Angeles home on October 28, 2023, with his death at the age of 54 being attributed to the acute effects of ketamine, with drowning and coronary artery disease listed as other factors.
Now, the documentary "Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy", which explores the circumstances of his death and premiered in the US on Peacock on Tuesday, has included alarming comments from the attorney Martin Estrada, who oversaw the case up until January 2024.
He stated that in his three final days, Perry was administered 27 doses of ketamine outside of that which he had been prescribed as therapy for anxiety and depression. Estrada added that the people responsible for the large number of doses 'should have known much better'.
Five people were charged in connection with Perry's death in August 2024, including doctors Mark Chavez and Salvador Plasencia, the actor's assistant Kenneth Iwamasa, former rehab program director Erik Fleming, and the so-called 'ketamine queen' Jasveen Sangha.
Estrada claims that Plasencia was 'very clear' in text messages about Perry, saying 'he saw this as an opportunity to make a lot of money in a short amount of time, and he allegedly did just that'.
'In the past, we used to call these things overdose deaths and do more blaming of the victim,' Estrada added. 'We don't do that anymore. We blame the drug dealers, the drug sellers, for taking advantage of those addiction issues to cause death or serious injury, and that's why we bring these cases. The big takeaway from this case is that when people involved in reckless activity, whether that be drug dealing or other activity, cause the death of others, there needs to be accountability.'
Chavez, Fleming, and Iwamasa have all pleaded guilty to drug charges and are awaiting sentencing. Both Sangha and Plasencia have pleaded not guilty, with a trial set for March 4, 2025.

"Hostel" TV Series Finds Streaming Home
Yara Sameh The 'Hostel' TV series has found a home at Peacock. The TV extension of the horror film franchise is currently in development at the NBCUniversal streamer. The reimagining was previously reported to be in the works in June 2024, but no platform was attached at that time. As originally reported, Paul Giamatti is attached to star in the series, with 'Hostel' mastermind Eli Roth set to write, direct, and executive produce. Chris Briggs and Mike Fleiss, who have produced all the 'Hostel' films, are also executive producers. Fifth Season is the studio. Exact plot details are being kept under wraps. The first film was released in theaters in 2006, with Roth writing, directing, and producing. Roth also wrote, directed, and produced 'Hostel: Part II' in 2007. A third film was released direct to video in 2011, though Roth was not involved in the production. Collectively, the first two films in the franchise grossed nearly $120 million globally despite costing just $4.8 million and $10.2 million respectively to produce. Giamatti is one of the finest actors of his generation. He is a two-time Oscar nominee — first for 'Cinderella Man' and then for 'The Holdovers.' He is also a six-time Golden Globe nominee, winning the award for his work in the HBO series 'John Adams' as well as for the films 'Barney's Vision' and 'The Holdovers.' Matthew Perry's Doctor Pleads Guilty to Ketamine Distribution
Yara Sameh Matthew Perry's doctor, Salvador Plasencia, entered a guilty plea Wednesday to four counts of ketamine distribution, and will face sentencing on December 3. As part of the deal, Plasencia, 43, will surrender his medical license within the next 30-45 days, the U.S. Attorney's Office said. He will remain free on bond pending his sentencing. Plasencia took a plea deal in June in which he admitted to distributing ketamine without a legitimate medical purpose to the 'Friends' star, who died of an overdose in October 2023. In exchange, prosecutors dropped charges of falsifying medical records and additional counts of distribution. The lone remaining defendant in the case, Jasveen Sangha, nicknamed the 'Ketamine Queen,' is scheduled to face a trial next month. She is alleged to have maintained a stash house in North Hollywood for the illicit distribution of the drug. Plasencia faces a theoretical maximum of 40 years behind bars, but is likely to receive far less than that under federal sentencing guidelines. According to the Associated Press, prosecutors detailed the circumstances underlying the charges before the plea, and acknowledged that Plasencia did not sell Perry the fatal dose. Plasencia spoke only in response to questions from Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett. Three other defendants — Erik Fleming, Kenneth Iwamasa and Mark Chavez — previously agreed to plead guilty to a single count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine. Authorities previously alleged that Plasencia concocted a fake 'treatment plan' for Perry after his death, in a vain attempt to cover his tracks. Plasencia was also quoted in a text message to another doctor gloating about his arrangement with Perry, saying 'I wonder how much this moron will pay… Let's find out.' read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks
